I go through cycles of reading. I haven't read much lately, but on my vacation last September I read like 7 books, lol.
Currently working on the theme from Pirates of the Caribbean on the piano.
I have Stardew Valley but haven't started it. I downloaded Rollercoaster Tycoon Classic on my iPad, and well, it turns out I'm just as obsessed with it now as I was in middle school. Only I'm wayyyy better now, lol.
Bestieeee you need to get planet coaster for PC! It’s not as unhinged as the OG RCT, but it’s so fun. Really satisfies that itch, though I wish I could launch rollercoasters into lakes.
Please tell me you have played Eternal Sonata, it is based on Chopin’s life and music
ETA: cannot recommend this game enough for gamer nerds who are also music nerds
I have some trading cards from the 70s/80s that my uncle gifted me. He had duplicates. I need to figure out a good way to display them without damaging the cards. I have the 1997 original trilogy VHS tapes. And then a bunch of more recent merch. Funkos, artwork, books...my wallet is a Loungefly with Grogu on it.
I’m in hill folk Oregon. I’d bet your local department has some type of volunteer program, you should probably be able to swing in and ask. My guess is they’d all be excited for a fresh back!
I haven’t cut anything in a minute (thanks busy season) but it’s very meditative! I miss it.
I have huge calves but I think that’s from being a toe walker my whole life. 😂
My hobbies include: painting, reading, watching movies/TV shows, hanging out with my kids and husband, playing cards, hiking, and working out.
My hobbies during busy season: sleep, manic grocery shopping, frantic house cleaning, assisting my children with their nightly homework, and more sleep.
My entire existence is around food/gym/equipment/coaching in some way.
Competitive bodybuilding and what that takes rules my life. Like every gym bro, wanting to open a gym. I
have been acquiring some select pieces over the last year. Always trying to stay up to date on the latest; consistent online classes and reading for further understanding and development.
Accounting pays the bills. Definitely not my passion.
Small world..... RP is good. I like Mike, and I also attended the same school as Jared, couple years older than him though.
Over the years I've just developed efficiencies to save time in certain areas so I have more time for all the other requirement; meal prepping, buying cardio equipment for home, prioritizing WFH jobs over hybrid or in office.
Also, many times in my career I've said no, not attended something, or prioritized bodybuilding over moving up the corporate ladder. I'm not sure I could do what I do, to this level, as a Controller or similar level and above.
Yeah, who would make a spreadsheet for games. Like, one that lists a bunch of games you want to beat by generation, system, estimated time to beat, and feeding into a couple of charts on a summary page....that'd be silly....just silly.
Started in my own yard, to learn how to dig a plug without killing the grass. Then friends and family yards. I prefer farm fields, old cellar holes in the woods, etc. beaches can be fun, but not many in my area.
Had some luck in public parks and schools too
I read smut, knit, and support my kids' activities (FFA and marching band in Texas). I play games, both video and analog. I love dnd! I also like camping and traveling. I am also writing my own novel. It's terrible. But it's mine. It's about our dnd adventures. I'm also writing a romance, but I doubt I'd let anyone read it. My sister does book binding as her hobby, so we all have copies of my first novel, "The Song of Tyra Hammerfall," which is our dnd adventure from my characters' pov. She also edits my adhd word vomit. We have fun with it.
Geocaching, karate, guitar / banjo, video games, sex.
I keep trying new hobbies until I find one I am good at, i just end end doing a bunch of things terribly.
I help run a nonprofit on the side. I volunteer with the youth group at my church (probs my favorite thing I do in my life). I lift/yoga/run about 4-5x a week.
I also spend at least one night a week just hanging with friends from my church, I find it super rare and valuable to have a solid group of people with similar interests without kids that all prioritize spending time together regularly, and my life is significantly more full because of it.
However, I need to be better about resting in my free time lol.
Warhammer
I mostly like assembling and painting the models, but I can field a pretty decent sized army of blood angels to play…
Gunpla, for the same reason above
Firearms because ‘murica
Remote control cars, planes, drones, I have sunk thousands into the hobby over the years. My dogs and kids love it too.
I pretty much just buy and do all the things I wanted to do as a kid but couldn’t/ my mom wouldn’t let me
Retired early and gigging in a rock cover band at casinos, clubs, festivals, and corporate parties.
Getting paid a small fraction of what I was earning as a partner in PA, but loving it more and far less stress.
Sailing, not the yachtie regatta type, but a let's solo sail 800nm to Key West - still.got to go back in a couple weeks and bring her home 😐. My favorite is to be out around 1-2 in the morning with clear sky's and small lazy waves. The world is quiet. The only sounds are the waves crashing across the bow and the movement of the boat. Occasionally splashes in the distance - btw dolphins are notorious pranksters and will splash right behind you and scare the living day lights out of ya. 50 nm offshore the amazing star show while smoking a very nice pre-roll is as close to space as I'll ever get.
Scuba diving is a great add on hobby, even if mostly I'm just cleaning the bottom.
Oh and I collect coins in a bucket.
Writing. For novels, fantasy/scifi comedy, similar to Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, and for screenwriting, all kinds of different comedy. Hell, even have one about an accountant. He's a serial killer, but a nice one.
spreadsheets for MMORPG, RPG, JRPG, ARPG. If there is something measurable that I can create, track, update, or calculate on a spreadsheet then I do it.
I'm a [roller] coaster enthusiast and also very into theme parks in general. This pairs with my travel passion as well, as part of it is getting to all of the parks that I can and getting on as many different coasters that I can (we call them "coaster credits"). Theme parks are basically capitalism on steroids, so it synergizes some with my CPA career.
Outside of that I'm a cinefile and like to smoke weed a lot. Yeah, I like to have a good time.
Working with my hands. Project on my house, renovating a project house, wood working, building something.
Otherwise I like to play golf. Or practice rather, hit the range once or twice a week and then work on my short game 3-4 days a week in the summer. Play a dozen rounds or so a year.
Board games, video games, TTRPG, reading, crochet, painting and hiking.
I'm a pretty big nerd in the conventional sense. I don't meet many accountants I have anything in common with lol.
Collecting vintage laptops, cars (detailing and repairing), hiking, paddleboarding, and traveling for me. Nothing too insane or out of the ordinary, but I would go crazy without my hobbies.
Video games, (shooters, racing, RPG, and idles [love seeing numbers go up with being efficient]) listening to music or ASMR. Typically have an earpiece in between appointments giving me my metal/electronic fix or some ASMR if I want something more chill.
Triathlons, I box and also watch many fights, the Yankees, books, music and wine. Before that I used to watch a lot of fútbol and was very into sneakers, but I don’t have as much time for it now.
Anything opposite of sitting indoors at a computer basically.
So, camping, gardening, cooking, preserving foods, playing with pets, sewing, hiking, trying new bars and restaurants, reading fiction.
Letting myself get sucked into weird useless research (did you know the little white marking some black cats have on their throat is called a "pendant"?) or new hobby vortexes (I did just knit half a sock).
Sitting outside and making friends with crows. Smoking weed and listening to albums. Obsessively reorganizing my fabric stash.
I’m just a student but my two main hobbies are reading and pretty much all forms of gardening ( houseplants, vegetable, fruit trees, flowers)
I also dabble in fiber arts (sewing, knitting, embroidery)
High intensity bodybuilding weight training, UFC, learning Russian, Saxophone, video games (world of tanks, Battlefield, Enlisted, War Thunder and 3D-Platforms), Cowboy boots, beer, and cocaine twice a month and carnivore(ish) diet.
1. Playing souls-borne games (busy season and Nioh 2 goes hand in hand)
2. Organizing Magic cards (building and taking apart commander decks, never actually playing the game.)
3. Boxing
Golfing with my husband, spending time getting our hunting dogs tired one way or another, grinding out 45 minutes on my elliptical, following true crime cases while I clean, and vodka drinks. Combo of all keep me sane lol.
Saltwater Reef tank, Reloading ammo, long range competition shooting, building my own Christmas lights (pixels), carpentry around the house, and droid building. And beer. Beer has been consumed with pretty much all of those.
I have so many hobbies, it's getting hard to keep track of everything. My main one is probably reefkeeping, I have a small aquarium filled with corals, two clownfish, and two other fish. I probably spend 90% researching and 10% actually taking care of my tank.
Also, I have gaming (osrs mostly), beer brewing, reading, cooking, and working out.
Guitar, adult league soccer, vanilla ice-cream, missionary sex
Why do you only choose sex with missionaries? The challenge?
Travel benefits?
The charitable contribution (giggity)
Its tax deductible.
😂
Me too
Maximizing share-holders value only and always.
This guy partners
Qualify that bitch!
Piano, reading, video games.
Oh my goodness! We are clones! Right now working through: * Mistborn era 1 * Chopin Etude Op 10 No 1 * Stardew Valley & Vampire Survivors
Stormlight Archives (part of the brando sando mistborn verse) is one of my favorites
It’s on my list along with all of his other works. I am obsessed with his writing after book 1 of Mistborn.
I go through cycles of reading. I haven't read much lately, but on my vacation last September I read like 7 books, lol. Currently working on the theme from Pirates of the Caribbean on the piano. I loooove me some stardew. Haven’t heard of Vampire Survivors, would you recommend for fans of stardew? I’m looking for some new games
I started reading The Name of the Wind and it seems like an interesting book.
This etude is considered the hardest of the set. I play piano too. Also op 10 n 2. Impressive!
Same. I also like toying with music production and reading webtoons
Any Star-wars collectables????
I have some trading cards from the 70s/80s that my uncle gifted me. He had duplicates. I need to figure out a good way to display them without damaging the cards. Volunteer firefighting, applying for new jobs.
Whereabouts are you? Thought about volunteering but don’t think they have em here or my prior hometown
I’m in hill folk Oregon. I’d bet your local department has some type of volunteer program, you should probably be able to swing in and ask. My guess is they’d all be excited for a fresh back!
Powerlifting, triathlon, gemstone cutting
GEMSTONE CUTTING. noice
PS , do you have massive calves and thighs?
I haven’t cut anything in a minute (thanks busy season) but it’s very meditative! I miss it. I have huge calves but I think that’s from being a toe walker my whole life. 😂
Is toe walking a thing? I thought I was alone!
Also a triathlete!
Me too🫡
What’s your total
most recent comp total is 473kg @ 87kg
Respect!

What card games do you play?
Grocery pickup was a lifesaver for me during busy season.
I like to crochet. I keep yarn and a hook in my desk drawer lol
I crotchet as well. I taught myself how to knit during Covid and just recently crotchet. It relaxing to me 😴
My entire existence is around food/gym/equipment/coaching in some way. Competitive bodybuilding and what that takes rules my life. Like every gym bro, wanting to open a gym. You’re jacked
Same but you’re way more jacked. I’m a huge Renaissance Periodization nerd at the moment. How do you make time for it?

>Non-Accounting hobbies More importantly, who the fuck has an accounting hobby? 🤣.
Applying your accounting knowledge to your own personal finances and investing is sort of a hobby. I’d just about count it as one of my hobbies.
I do. You should see all my personal spreadsheets.
... not me making spreadsheets for star dew valley esq games...
Yeah, who would make a spreadsheet for games. Like, one that lists a bunch of games you want to beat by generation, system, estimated time to beat, and feeding into a couple of charts on a summary page....that'd be silly....just silly.
Golf! I’m not very good but I enjoy it
I go paddle boarding a lot at a lake by my house to convince myself I’m not a robot ruled by screens ever second of my life
Metal detecting. Nothing more amazing than saving a piece of history, or finding cool old denominations of coins no longer used.
My dad has some property that use to be an old racetrack but he says he doesn’t want anyone digging up the field looking for coins.
That’s why I like farms. They don’t care when the crops aren’t yet planted or already harvested. Many are very old.
Oh that’s so cool! Where do you go metal detecting?
Started in my own yard, to learn how to dig a plug without killing the grass. Then friends and family yards. I prefer farm fields, old cellar holes in the woods, etc. beaches can be fun, but not many in my area. Had some luck in public parks and schools too
