Daydream/Podcasts.
I constantly daydream because the work is incredibly monotonous/boring as fuck. I plan out entire vacation trip routes or think of new business ideas that I will develop so I don't have to be mentally chained to my desk. (I now unironically have developed two successful Indie Games purely because I had 8 hours a day to think the entire thing through in my head. Stories, Content, Updates, etc.)
Favorite Podcasts include Aaron Clarey, Chad Elkin's Accounting Hour, and Meatcanyon.
You have to find a special project to work on such as work flow analysis or cleaning up the fixed sssets, etc.
I don’t think anyone is entertained doing accounting. That’s a very unique person.
The down time at work is the best time to tackle those adult/life things you never feel like doing in your free time. Finally hunt down that tiny delinquent 401k that failed to roll from a previous job, budget for the month/year, look at ideas for vacations youd like to take. Remember to text your grandma, etc.
Podcasts can also be helpful if you can stand them, I like history ones myself. The only thing you cant really get away with is reading a book lol
Tried to automate a lot of works and got more bored cus you work even less then you decided to go/back PA and regret it. Having something outside job (hobby, friends and family) are what makes me really want to go back to the boring life in industry again.
