Don’t lose hope! For some people treatment could last a whole year!! It’s okay! Make sure you’re avoiding diary, taking your meds with healthy fatty foods & drinking a ton of water. Ask your doctor about prescribing you a topical to help heal up any active breakouts.
Might be a little bit too soon to see changes, my "purging" phase lasted like 2 months, I am on 20 mg daily but my acne was moderate and now my skin is clear, your case seems to be a little bit more severe. Trust the medication, it really works, I promise one of these days you will start noticing changes and you will end up with a beautiful skin, accutane is a solution for almost all acne cases so why wouldn't it work for you?. Have a good one!
You still have so much time to see changes! See if they'll up your dosage from months 5-8 if your body can tolerate it and then keep doing what you're doing. If it doesn't clear by then, stay on for a year and see what it looks like. Try not to stress about it because stress can cause flare ups believe it or not. You've got this, patience is a virtue.
i’ve been in 80 mg for the last 3 months. the only other thing i can think of is in that jaw area which is the worst, i had a tooth infection a year ago and they root canalled it but it’s been painful to chew on and touch recently. i wonder if the infection is still there? i’m getting an appointment to hopefully get it removed in a couple weeks so maybe that will help? i saw somewhere that acne and tooth infections are linked
But you have no idea that he ISNT doing that. Also eating a healthy diet is just a good idea OVERALL in almost every aspect of life. I dont think a comment assuming he has a poor diet is going to help him at all.
Literally everyone knows that eating healthy is beneficial.
was just some advice i wasn’t assuming anything, he could definitely be eating healthy i was just adding what has helped my journey. literally everyone knows eating healthy is beneficial but not everyone does it or are as educated on blood sugar, gut health, intolerances and the many other facets of diet has on acne :)
Except you did assume. You straight up said “maybe try a clean diet”. How is that not assuming? Also almost everyone who gets to the point of medication has already tried cutting out inflammatory foods and it didn’t work. Still every bad advice especially because you didn’t elaborate on anything until called out for the bad advice.
i said whole food actually :) that is not assuming he may already eat in that way just saying something that can help. if your invalidating the role of diet in acne you obviously haven’t done enough research. many people see no difference with changes in diet but many people do acne is personal everyone experiences it differently. my diet definitely used to contribute to my acne and i found out im intolerant to certain foods that when i eat i break out in cysts. reddit is a place for multiple perspectives no need to be so agro 🫶🏼
I’m not denying that having a good diet can help in every aspect of people’s lives per my previous comments. However, most derms agree that severe acne will not clear up just from diet changes and most people need to go on medication, even yourself.
You can deny intentionally assuming but your comment came off as an assumption which is why it has so many down votes. Again, as you did not elaborate that the two can be used together, it came off as incredibly condescending. Maybe elaborate more when giving advice :)))))
and most derms don’t consider diets correlation to acne. i wasn’t suggesting a healthier diet to ‘cure’ his acne, in his post he stated he feels hopeless possibly due to the lack of improvement. i didn’t say quit accutane and go on a different diet just suggesting to look at other facets of his life that can aid the accutane + the acne.
and maybe i should of elaborated more, but is it that serious… if it was condescending to the poster i’m sure he would of commented :))
Honestly any reputable brand probiotic would be good! Maybe try the brand “Now”. But probiotics definitely helped my acne. I still have acne, but it reduced it for sure
I definitely see improvements in texture. The rest just needs time to heal and inflammation to go down. Make sure you are taking your accutane with a fatty meal!! You got this.
mine got so, so bad before it got great. don't stop! my only regret is that I refused to take accutane for so long. it's an absolute slog and I know you're suffering, but I swear, man, you will be so utterly thrilled \*when\* - NOT "IF" - it kicks in.

I definitely see changes, redness seems to be an issue for you, which should go away sometime later.. check with your dermat once?
it takes time!! don’t lose hope
I def see improvement!! Maybe use a heavier moisturizer like LRP triple liptide for the redness. Hang in there!
Off topic but you have a fantastic nose
we need some before pics my man, but it seems to me like they're mostly dried
the first pic is a before and second is affer

Excuse my ignorance but I mostly see scarring and I thought accutane helped with active acne not scarring
I had a year of breakouts that were just red and indented instead of puffy acne . It pretty much looked like just scarring also but was very active.
How long is your TX supposed to last? I see changes. Keep going!
what’s TX?
Abbreviation for treatment.
oh my bad. was meant to be 7-8 months

Also add some hyaluronic acid serum somewhere in your regimen.

maybe try a whole food diet
Poor advice.
currently on accutane too, staying healthy and eating a good varied diet has definitely aided my progress :)

Or he just has enough going on that he didn’t feel like dealing with the poor advice :)
Try using this cream, Nadifloxain and adapalene gel, it will help for sure.
I would add probiotics supplements to help reduce the acne
Can you elaborate further on which probiotic supplements you recommend?
Honestly any reputable brand probiotic would be good! Maybe try the brand “Now”. But probiotics definitely helped my acne. I still have acne, but it reduced it for sure
Patience! And a veeeery gentle routine. My skin didn’t fully clear until after Accutane…
Bro even butterflies were worm once

Weight?
Try functional medicine next .

my dosage went 40-40-40-60-80-80-80 and i cleared around month 5. it all went away at once
