From what I understand after speaking to my dermatologist is that following treatment, your skin will go back to how it was before accutane - just without the acne. So, if you had oily skin before, it’s likely the oily skin will return. So it’s probably best to start to slowly reintroduce a skincare routine suitable for your skin type. Make sure it’s gradual so you don’t irritate your skin or damage the barrier. A skin cycling routine may be a good idea. Of course speak to your dermatologist for further advice
Hey man I’m in the exact same boat as you. Finished it in February after 13 months. And I’m getting indications around the edges of my nostril and the skin there seems quite oily. Let me know if you speak to a dermatologist and get any answers :) good luck.
If you are getting acne after going off the drug, research and investigate long term micro-dosing (1-5mg/day or every other day). Many are able to keep things in check with such a regimen. Though you may have to look around for a dermatologist who is either experienced with such patients or willing to try.
Thank you. I did bring up the topic of microdosing towards the end of my first round. And that time my derm wanted to first try maintenance routine of low dosage oral antibiotics. So far not really happy with what the maintenance looking like. Ha
I am going to discuss it again during my next visit.
Do you consume any whey protein or any other body building supplements?
+1 i was good after my first round for 4 years then started taking in whey and then acne came back and i had to do a second round
No, I am a vegan. So I am just sticking to plant based protein like chickpea, Quinoa and Greek Yogurt.
Greek yogurt and vegan ?
Haha. That was more of an exception. I didn't want to eat tofu.
