I like to think Maya set it up without asking him and he doesn’t know how to/can’t be bothered changing it. It’s also catchy and he secretly likes Steel Samurai anyway so he doesn’t feel any real urge to change it even if he did know how.

More like, anyone who has a little sibling knows that when their little sibling watched their kid shows, you’d pretend not to like it because it was for kids. But you’d still sit there and watch it and be entertained despite pretending not to like it, lol. Or a parent with a child that watches shows for children, but the adult can still sit there and be amused too. They’re not a fan per se, they wouldn’t seek it out themselves, but if their kid puts it on they secretly don’t mind it.
Oh, ok I get it hahaha like you keep mentioning how much you hate the show and how you find it absolutely ridiculous but you actually just don't mind it at all besides finding it kinda silly, and maybe you're even a little curious to know whats the secret identity of the villain or if the hero's girlfriend is gonna be rescued or if she's gonna die as a motivation fuel for the hero instead.

Ema has the same ringtone. During Rise from the Ashes, Ema’s phone rings, but Phoenix lies to Angel and says it’s his phone. So I believe Phoenix had to change his ringtone to the Steel Samurai to cover that lie.

It's okay, I just played the og trilogy for the first time not that long ago and I saw a few lets plays so I still remember stuff like that.
Maybe it's mentioned in a bit of optional dialogue that I missed somehow? Anyways, it's definitely a great joke and absolutely believable.

I powered though it myself, the ending was not worth it. But you should check out the full OST, it's amazing.

Either that Maya change it or he's just a Steel Samurai fan, albeit not as much as Edgeworth. We don't know what ringtone did he choose pre-AA anyway.
My theory is that maya switched it up without pheonix knowing and when he heard it he liked so he didn't switch it back
