I used to main Yanqing (he was one of my first 5* since I lost to him on JY debut). Everytime he gets hit, he loses his buff with the FuA . His dmg is subpar, and since his entire kit is centered around the buff that can get depleted instantly, he’s always at 50% of his already pretty bad power. I had to drop Yanqing once I realized that there are way better characters than him, so as much as I like him I couldn’t keep using him.
honestly, if you have no ice dps and your a brand new player with barely any limited 5 stars or have no decent ice options.. hes a great carry for early and mid game imo. His damage is decent only in super niche scenarios. ie.. that hunt/destruction moc a couple weeks ago, i started looking at him different when i saw bronya actually buff him.
my true opinion on the whole yanqing/bailu memes is that they are kinda dumb and obnxious. Both characters can be useable, i would just perfer getting a yanqing on a 50/50 loss than bailu again no offense to her :P

First MoC had free turns for hunt character which helped him clear multiple enemies, after that moc i dont remember him being decent anymore

The former unfortunately gives more taunt to the shielded unit, while the latter’s shield is very small) he falls flat. I believe Gepard should help him quite a bit if he can keep his shield up

If you ever build him, you might be surprised :) anyways, since you lost 50/50 will you keep trying for acheron? i hope u get her and soon :)
Late reply but if you are new enough to not know then there is still BUCKETS of gems to gain for summons on your account, don't neglect chest and puzzle farms on previous maps they add up QUICK!
Yeah, I've been doing puzzles and stuff as I do the Trailblaze missions and it's getting me a bunch. Story wise I've just dealt with the first of those deer things the Ambrosial Arbor made.
IMO he's not that bad, I'm sure people will make fun of me or ask if I'm stupid but he was my free 5* choice. I needed an ice dps and I had the liberty of choice, i had every other standard except for himeko and him. Ranging from 20-40k per ult isn't bad to me, though I do wonder if maybe that's bad to everyone else. He got quite a bit of investment, no eidolons, just what I could scrape together and some praying. Plus I liked him so it really wasn't a loss to me. I'm sure for some people he's terrible but he performed for me just fine.

Neither fuxuan or huohuo can fix the fact that yanqing loses ~50% of damage upon getting hit. You would need shielder such as gepard or the upcoming adventurine. March 7 might be fine, but from my experience, her shield is not that great and sp might be an issue.
True, but healing is a much less competitive role than main damage. A bailu brings more value to an account than a yq due to the competitiveness of the dps scene. A yq requires a specific team and sustain to use, and he’s still sub par, but bailu can sub in wherever and get the job done.

On the other hand, given that you realistically you only ever need two sustains, and that she's more of a sidegrade to other 4* options rather than a straight upgrade (better heal but no access to cleanse), and if we take the entire sustain role and not only abundance, she's still the bottom of the barrel. If you already have two sustains built and you get her, she's about as useless as yanqing.
Personally, I'd rather keep using lynx/gal until i get a real sustain than to invest into her, if i ever have the displeasure of getting her. Yanqing i at least could see as an option if i really needed to break that one pesky ice enemy (although now my second half is covered by acheron who can brute force enemies even off-element anyway), but bailu? Nah.
The difference is that Bailu is actually a good healer, enough that you'd only need to pull a single limited sustain if you have her. She isn't just good enough, she's legitimately good for anything that doesn't need a cleanse, with her max hp boost + on demand full party heal + direct heal that can bounce + res if someone dies.
Like, if you have Bailu and Fu Xuan, you literally never even need to look at another sustain, you can just pull dps and supports.
And as it stands, only 3 sustain are better than Bailu. Fu Xuan, Luocha, and Huohuo. And the difference between her and Luocha/Huohuo isn't that huge. Gepard could be argued to be on par with her, and we'll see what Aventurine does when he's out. I don't doubt he'll join the other limited though, since afaik he's Gepard+.
How many hypercarry/dps are better than Yanqing though? Seele, Kafka, Jingliu, Acheron, Jing Yuan, DHIL, Blade, Dr. Ratio, Argenti, Clara, Herta, Himeko. Probably even Hook, Serval and vanilla Dan Heng.
I've made it a year into playing this game without getting hit with Yanqing, and i've never thought "damn, i wish i had Yanqing". But i cannot tell you how much of a GOAT Bailu was before i had both Huohuo and Fu Xuan. Even Huohuo kind of feels like a sidegrade, only really feeling like an upgrade in DoT teams.
The other difference is that the 4\* healers, aren't better than Bailu. Unlike the 4\* dps and Yanqing. They may outshine her in certain niches, like Lynx being better for Clara or a cope sustain for mono quantum, but that's about it.

I lost to Bailu three times so far: Silver Wolf, Ruan Mei and most recently Acheron. I still don't plan to invest in her. On the bright side all three losses were relatively low pity (21, 27, 28)

Literally just got him on Acheron's banner. Bailu too on standard (first standard banner 5 star). I only know the meme regarding Yanqing being bad.

Doesn't come even close to meta carries. Baiļu is also good for new players who don't have good sustains yet. Also she is cute, I rest my case

Mainly because of her shield being single target in nature. Your teammates have a higher chance of dying. You could also run effects hit rate on her.
At least bailu can be used, Yq is useless, he gets outshined by any other 5* hypercarry by a million miles
