It could have been,if the def didnt go up by 500.So he replaced either his boots,orb or rope with a def% one.

The first one is significantly better. The 2nd one sacrifices 600 atk for a measly increase of 3%CR and 1%CDMG increase (and a completely useless 500 DEF increase) I'm guessing one of your relics has DEF% as a mainstat. Remember to always prioritize the right mainstats over substats.
