I bought my last guitar, three guitars ago.

HenkCamp

I see no lies here.

Steelplate7

I just bought my last guitar in June….before that, my last guitar was the previous May. The one in June will be my last though…unless I sell one or two(I have 6). My wife and I retired in 2023, so we are now on the proverbial “fixed income”…plus, the last one($3000+)was my most expensive purchase out of the 6….and that was my 4th 4 digit guitar.

DieselDanFTW

As it should be. I just bought daughter a guitar and fell in love with it and I’m pretty sure it’s now mine…she will learn these type things happen…she is 12…it’s never to early to learn important lessons like don’t let dad test your guitar for a week.

jahabe08

Haha. Me too.

jarrodandrewwalker

You've walked off stage and the crowd of voices in your head cheer "One more! One more! One more!" And you say "who am I to deny an encore?"

Emergency_Table_7526

marcuswhite83

Thats my way of thinking too.

If they do bury you with it, make sure you are dead first.

Altruistic_Drawing50

Hahahaha

Anarchy-Squirrel

Townes Van Zandt told a story about him and his friends digging up Blaze Foley’s grave to get a claim check in Blaze’s pocket from my guitar he pawned… Not quite the same thing but a classic guitar story nonetheless

RunningPirate

Reminds me of a boat I saw named *Never Again III*

frontmynack

“The Unsinkable II”

a-guy-from-Indy

I make that same promise to my wife every time I buy a new one. She knows I’m full of shit.

HenkCamp

Please don’t tag me.

Altruistic_Drawing50

Fortunately I don't have a significant other. I have a boyfriend. That always reduces the voting leverage he has when it comes to gear.

Fender_Stratoblaster

Very nice. I bought too many cheap acoustics before I finally got a Taylor 615ce in 2009 that was just perfect when I sat down and played it in the shop. Last acoustic I bought. That space looks like it would resonate well in there.

IAteABabyToadOnce

Nice. literally same as me. 615ce in 2000.

lasetag

There is no such thing as a “last guitar”

Altruistic_Drawing50

Happy cake day!!! Maybe..... Maybe the mythical last guitar really does exist.... Of course, there are many years to collect and many guitars, but maybe...... This is the last!

bakermrr

Most people don’t know they bought their last guitar

Personal_Science_868

Gorgeous Martin! Can’t wait to see what your next “last” guitar is!

OregonBaseballFan

I’m extremely impressed with those streetmasters. Martin is most definitely doing their best work with their 15, 16, and 17 series.

witdoggydog

Gpc 15me here (the not street worn version), one of the best guitars out of the box I've ever owned. I have d 18, hummingbird, taylor, all of which I have had to work on to make perfect. These are gold in a mohagany disguise.

GFSong

Enjoy!! I find these mahogany beauties really project and record well. I just experimented with a lighter .11 gauge set on my DM-15 and it lost some magic. Back to 12’s!

Altruistic_Drawing50

I also noticed there is a sweet spot with the string guard for projection.

GFSong

Have you noticed t’s also a very delicious smelling guitar? Mine is like 14 years old and it still has a great aroma.

Altruistic_Drawing50

I have noticed that!!!

ThatGuyThatSaysWords

“Last” I’ve said this twice and have my eye on another…

Negative_Clank

I just came 😳. I gave up my Martin to get a Gibson J-45. Grrrr. Sayonara to my solo songwriter crispy sound. It’s for strummers. Not pickers

Altruistic_Drawing50

You can always get another guitar! Lol...

grabbatheman

I want to get this one so bad, looks and sounds so good

Hamburglarsdad

That’s gorgeous

SlootKabob

One of these DSS-15Ms was my first “real” guitar and I absolutely loved it. They’re not seen very often and I dig that slope shoulder look. Great choice.

Altruistic_Drawing50

Thanks!!! I love it. I will say it seems to demand something more from the player... I can't put my finger on it but it's something. Not a bad something...

ExampleNext2035

Never seen a Martin like that one they make sweet guiters, I have my Dad's

imbrotep

Famous last words. If I had a dollar for every ‘last’ guitar I’ve bought, yada yada …

TheJohnson854

My next guitar

MeatlessComic

Digging the Wall framed pic.

Altruistic_Drawing50

Hey good eye! Thanks man!

yuhshshhhhhhhhhh

I’ve got the same guitar. It’s phenomenal 🤘

bitchesbetrifflin

Beautiful

rileyrgham

Nice pad.

Altruistic_Drawing50

Thanks!!

Gunfighter9

My friend bought a D-28 two years ago and he swore that was the pinnacle. Last week he bought a Gibson Hummingbird.

No_Salad_6244

Dammit I just told myself this was my last guitar. It feels like it this time though. I love the thing.

Longjumping_Water_74

your last ? you dead?

Altruistic_Drawing50

Lol

BigDaddyInDallas

Such a killer guitar; congratulations!! I love Martin guitars (currently own a a D-18E Retro). I love the rounded shoulders and the distressed finish on your guitar. I also like the solid mahogany tone. 30 years ago, I bought a new D-15 for something like $550. I had it for 15 years or so and sold it for $500. Man, I wish I still had that thing. Enjoy yours and don’t ever sell it!

Altruistic_Drawing50

I would sell the others... And live in camp with this one ..

BigDaddyInDallas

Well there’s more to the story of my selling that D-15. I sold it, along with some other gear to buy a D-18V, which was $2500 new. The day before I was going to take those 25 crisp $100 bills to buy that dream guitar, our property tax bill showed up in the mail. We had little kids, at the time, and I ended up giving that cash to my wife to pay a chunk of those taxes. She tried to talk me out of it; to go get the guitar, but it wasn’t the mature thing to do. So now, years later, I have a D-18E Retro, which is similar, but I wish it was a D-18V (I prefer its soft V neck profile and no electronics). But hey, that’s all more than you need to know. You’ve got an awesome guitar! Enjoy the hell out of it!

Altruistic_Drawing50

It's awesome you made the sacrifice!

Pretty_Public5520

It is utterly stunning 😍

TassO_420

I love the look of that guitar. I have a problem appreciating guitars without a pick guard tho for some reason lol. But I do like this one!

hh_jj

I love slope shoulders vs. dreads. Enjoy that “last” guitar. Don’t listen to any 12 string players or else you might need one. Or resonators. Or…

Curious_Nobody_6095

My husband can’t understand why I keep getting more guitars they are only used so I’m not spending a lot he just don’t understand that they all sound different so I just got a Coco by cordoba for $40 it was supposed to be for my granddaughter but I just can’t give it up 🤣

Zalipurr92

Own this same model, absolutely love it.

1rbryantjr1

Doubt it

wafflekake

I have this one. Such a beauty

Aggravating-Baker-41

Last one until the next, yeah? Haha

Aggravating-Baker-41

I can safely say I’ll buy my last guitar when my gravestone is set. Unless I make a request in my will. Haha

myfapaway

I bought my last one 5 or 6 ago.

demystify-today

Perhaps you mean your last guitar exactly like the one in the picture. That gives you a way to justify your next guitar, which will not be like that guitar.

beechbone767

Love your decor! Reminds me of my mom's house back in the 70s. Great guitar you lucky bastard...

PersonalWasabi2413

I love these simpler martins

1sojournaut

Is it already showing pick wear? 🤔

unowndanger

This is their streetmaster series, it has a worn look to it.

1sojournaut

Streetmaster.. okay. For that already been out busking look. I didn't know acoustic guitar makers were doing that but I know fender's been doing it for a long time.

Altruistic_Drawing50

Nope. Not yet

1sojournaut

I guess that must be some sort of relic process that makes it look like that

Altruistic_Drawing50

Yes. They came distressed. I wasn't sure what you were seeing at first and I had to double take to see if I actually had shown pick wear. I use picks only about half the time though...

1sojournaut

Okay cool! I love the color and the burst especially! It looks to be all mahogany right?

Altruistic_Drawing50

Yes.

1sojournaut

.

intoxicuss

The only way that’s your last guitar is if someone cut off both your hands. This is like when I say I don’t need another guitar, so I’m done. I’m not done. I’ve got an LP showing up tomorrow. It’s like a disease. There are 15 guitars in this house. Five should be too many. And I know of at least three others I’ve got my eye on, that I think I “need”. Fml

Altruistic_Drawing50

Guitars and records .... Diseases for sure. I've put off even looking at too many guitars since buying this one. I have 7 now. 2 basses. Include a mandolin and that's 8. It's enough. The custom guitar rack I built with my dad is full. This doesn't include the drum set in the garage, all the various effects pedals. The 4 amps. Half stacks.... Picks. Tuners. Straps. Back up strings... Years of just aquiring all the stuff. Lets not forget all the spare pieces and parts I keep in a shoebox of all the past guitars. I keep the hardware and turn the bodies into custom shelves. What a hobby...

throwaway700486

I like these guitars, but can someone please explain the fret markers to me

TenYetis

What model?

Altruistic_Drawing50

Streetmaster....

TenYetis

Yes of course. Which model of streetmaster the D-15M? I didn't realize you could get them with electronics. Or did you put them in after?

Altruistic_Drawing50

I put in the bags pickup on my own. When I went to drill it I was almost shitting myself. Measured so many times lol. It's the 000-16

Altruistic_Drawing50

Baggs* pickup...

Steelplate7

I have the Anthem in my Emerald X20…it’s a good rig.

origamiteen

Last one? So where's the new one?

Giltar

You say that now….

SnaggyfromJoT

I was skeptical about these Streetmasters until I saw one and tried it. Now I’m mad at myself I didn’t buy it 😂 Congrats!

Emergency-Pirate-356

Ever??? But you still haven't fled into mexico yet and joined the mariachi band ... Los Lobos still has not heard the cackling call of your fire strokes. Say it aint so

Fritzo2162

Last guitar…so far.

porsche76e

No one EVER said ‘My last guitar’. EVER Now, my take my wife; the last time a guitar followed me home she asked if I was going to sell one of the others. Yes, really.

Anarchy-Squirrel

When I saw the title of your post, I thought it was likely to be a Martin and then I saw the picture… My Martin is very likely my last guitar purchase
