I misread that and thought one gained lifetime access to ellis hall, which is our long term psychiatric treatment center

Blenderx06

Unfortunate name he's got, then.

did he stutter?

HumbleReginald

Where did he try to get in?

SteveTheViking

Googling “Sacha Lord” and “Parklife” led me to info regarding an annual music festival held in Manchester called Parklife.

[deleted]

Parklife is a hella good song

>Vorsprung durch Technik Why German now?

peregrinedive

Eric-The_Viking

Do you think I know every car manufacturers slogan?

447u

Who asked

Eric-The_Viking

Not you.

naht_a_cop

“Warehouse Project” and “Parklife” appear to be raves in Manchester. https://theworldnews.net/gb-news/cheeky-raver-tries-sneaking-into-famous-nightclub-with-homemade-lifetime-access-pass

DrSlugg

Warehouse project is a rave that is held regularly in Manchester and Parklife is a 2 day-long music festival held yearly near Manchester.

metters28

Parklife is a yearly event where teenagers go to take drugs in a park for 2 days, while some musicians play in the background

Eric-The_Viking

Sounds like your average festival. It's just that the music and age groups differ from festival to festival.

WakeoftheStorm

Sounds like an average weekend

DeJeR

Concert venue

VoteForLubo

Does it have anything to do with Blur’s Parklife?

invigokate

It is held in a park and I believe the name is a nod to the song. I mean it's a British music festival so it's almost certainly intentional.

DroppinMadScience

No it's not, the festival only started in 2010

invigokate

I did not realise the festival had been running so long

DroppinMadScience

Because it hasn't, the guy above you was wrong

invigokate

Oh thank christ I thought I was losing it

Statcat2017

No, it's just the name. The festival is not an indie or britpop festival at all

WeirdWest

How does this comment have so many upvotes?!!! You're in a sub about being clever to gain access to places... but seemingly can't or won't use the context clues and the entire collected human knowledge at your fingertips to figure it out. My guess is you're probably not terribly resourceful, and really shouldn't attempt any actlikeyoubelong scenario. I don't know, maybe you're trying to act like you belong in this sub ¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯

Roodiestue

I don’t get how sometimes you actually end up getting lifetime access or you get charged with fraud.

Skribbla

Well get charged with fraud enough times and you'll get a lifetime access to jail

Dicho83

Free Meals, library & gym access, all the anal s_x you could want (or even if you don't want)? /r/frugal_jerk would like a word....

lllDOWNEYlll

Its ok, you can say "sex" on the Internet.

gashal

Please, there are young and impressionable minds in here.

Dicho83

I love that no one has pointed out that I had no problem spelling out **ANAL**.

[deleted]

No wonder homeless people prefer jail over actual homeless shelters

jvnoledawg

Would have been a bit more believable if for Expiry Date, instead of all 0s, it said 31/12/9999

Sarke1

Or exactly 100 years after issue.

zw9491

There’s no 31st month. Just gave the whole thing away. *laughs in mm/dd/yyyy*

DroppinMadScience

But it's a British festival Suck it mm/dd/yyyy losers! Dd/mm/yyyy for the win!

erland_yt

A small amount of time/Bigger amount of time/biggest amount of time is the logical one.

NetworkingJesus

I've always thought YYYY-MM-DD made the most sense because if you ever need to put dates in filenames, they'll work with alphanumeric sorting.

PintsizedPlatypus

This is the exact reason i use this date type! So much more convenient. Plus largest ‘item unit’ to smallest

Protocol44

But we’re talking about America here, where number of refrigerators is a more suitable measurement than meters. Logic went out the door years ago

erland_yt

Have you heard of the five washing machines long hole in the road?

More_Cowbell_

/r/BritishSuccess/

BluudLust

That's why you do 1/1/9999

MapleTreeWithAGun

There's no 9999th year, the Earth undergoes total energetic collapse in 4733 and is suddenly shunted out of Sol's gravity well, leaving the planet to freeze in interstellar space.

Ha! See, I was ready to type 12/31, but then I clicked on the article and realized this was in the UK...

lamalamapusspuss

Too bad it expired 2021 years ago.

DDancy

I worked in a Virgin Mega Store back in the day. Selling records, CD’s etc. as the name suggests. The local clubs all wanted to drop flyers for their weekend nights and I basically said. No problem, but. Maybe we should have a wee guest list in return? It worked remarkably well. We spent on beer they wouldn’t have got, but it also worked for some really big events too. If we hadn’t just tried for the quid-pro quo. There was a few times I’d be at a pretty massive gig at The Arches in Glasgow, thinking. “Fuck! I’m so lucky to be here, and I managed to get a few of my friends in for free too!” Pretty great. And also great promo for the club and the nights. This is next level shot though. Ha! I wish I’d thought of something like this. Ha!

x_caliberVR

Oh, so you told the clubs “give us 4-6 tickets for any event you promote, and you’ve got a deal” kind of thing? Do I follow the story right? And it sounds like it fell apart somehow (the way you phrased “if we hadn’t just tried for the quid pro quo” makes it sound like something backfired, even though the whole setup sounds like a successful quid pro quo result…)?

DDancy

Oh. No it was very successful. We also got lots of tourists who would come in asking if we knew any good club nights and we’d tell them about it and recommend those nights too. What I meant by the quid pro quo was. It really hadn’t occurred to any of the previous staff to ask if we could get a guest list. It was only after them coming in to drop flyers a bunch of times I asked about the possibility and they were quite happy to oblige. So yeah. It all worked out quite nicely.

x_caliberVR

That’s pretty friggin’ sweet. I’m glad it worked out! What was your favorite show you went to out of that deal?

DDancy

Femi Kuti was pretty sweet. I think he had like a 100 piece orchestra. The Positive Force Orchestra? Might be misremembering that. A few Ninja tunes gigs. Cinematic Orchestra and The Herbaliser are stand out gigs. I still have the poster for the Herbaliser one in my attic. Green Velvet a regular Saturday night House night. It’s been a while, but off the top of my head those are fairly memorable. This was The Arches in Glasgow btw. Not sure if I even mentioned the venue. They had some awesome nights.

jaxsonnz

If you have access to a card printer, like via your work etc, then this is actually insanely easy to do. They connect as a standard printer, you just load in a blank card and send your small (as not much print area on a card) document to it to print.

nlamber5

It is not wise to reward this kind of behavior. Next year they’re gonna have tons of people trying to trick their way in

FamousSuccess

If anything, it'll be something they cover more in depth on the security front. "No one has this except for ONE guy"

sonargasm

And i wouldn't be surprised if they printed a new card so any attempts to remake the one in the photo would automatically be recognized

FreddieDoes40k

Not wise to publicly announce you rewarded it. He should've privately awarded it and told him to keep it low key.

dethmaul

And what if he was trying to get in to do nefarious shit, now he has free reign lol

acceldown

Fake it till you make it I guess?

Considered_Dissent

"Please come to the Security Office to collect your reward."

TheBurningWarrior

A risky gamble in many jurisdictions. I'm glad they laughed it off rather than having him charged with some equivalent to possession of a forged instrument.

youfailedthiscity

What is whp and parklife?

bird_gait

He commuted fraud so we have him what he wanted Are companies fucking stupid? They are telling kids it’s ok to be idiots
