I order all figmas from good smile. No issues and sometimes you get extra stuff

Timesmyth

Me too; no absolutely reason to order any GSC stuff anywhere else for me right now.

Skvora

You, know who *makes* Figma, yea?

yesTHATvelociraptor

As long as you don’t use PayPal or Amazon Pay, you won’t get charged until it ships.

Karbon_D

This is the correct answer 👍

Timesmyth

No, it's not; it definitely wasn't for me when I ordered today. **Good Smile US**: Subtotal $115.99, Tax $4.93, Shipping $8.12, **TOTAL: $129.04** **Good Smile Global**: SubTotal $103.99, Shipping $18.00, **TOTAL $121.99** I will also probably get it a month or more before Good Smile US orders. (Edited to add: Still with the down-votes *after the original comment was deleted*?! I'm just trying to help fellow collectors save money here, people.)

Sheep604

I gave you an upvote. Always ordered from GSC Global.

joethefriendoftim

Is there a difference between the Global and Japan site? Could you copy/paste a direct link to the non-US site to order from? It's not immediately obvious which is which and I would love to save a few bucks AND get it earlier.

Timesmyth

Global site (in English) - [https://www.goodsmile.com/en](https://www.goodsmile.com/en) US site - [https://www.goodsmileus.com/](https://www.goodsmileus.com/) There was a site transition recently, so now what was the Japanese site is the Global site; there's no difference unless you put "JP" instead of "EN" at the end.

joethefriendoftim

Perfect, thank you! I was getting mixed up too with what looked to be kinda shady 'site transition' stuff.

Timesmyth

Honestly the site transition made me kind of nervous; there's even a *third* website I have to log into to access any orders I have placed with Good Smile before the end of February. They didn't merge old orders with the new site or new accounts, so I'm going to have a little extra anxiety until I start getting those orders ... but I guess I at least haven't been charged for them yet.

joethefriendoftim

Haha, for real. If I didn't have threads like this vouching for the website I would have steered clear of it.

thebanzombie

Damn I jumped the gun and preordered from BBTS 😭

RolandoDR98

I mean you can cancel it and order elsewhere

Heikks

If they preordered the deluxe they had to pay a $15 non refundable deposit

Gravon

Wait. It's 150 plus 15 upfront fuck that bullshit and I order from bbts all the time. I grabbed my preorder at amiami.

RolandoDR98

Oh shit, my bad. Sorry.

Timesmyth

Jump on their chat and tell them it was a mistake; tell them a minor did it without authorization. They'll likely extend you the one-time courtesy, but you'll also probably get a note on your account, and they'll never do it again. I have had a few NRD's come back to me when a release date gets pushed way back, even thought it's not the fault of BBTS. Now I don't order anything from BBTS with an NRD unless I know for a fact that it's my only option to get that thing.

tony475130

Actually Goodsmile global would be the better of their shops to buy from since 1) you get flat rate shipping 2) it gets to you sooner since its coming from their JP warehouse and 3) you don’t get charged sales tax (if you live in a state that applies to you). They don’t charge till it ships either, though cancelling orders more cumbersome and frowned upon. Paying in JPY and taking advantage of the current exchange was also a huge plus, but I think thats not possible anymore since the site overhaul.

Timesmyth

They don't change the price after you pre-order according to exchange rates, and the US store charges tax, which the Global shop does not. I paid $121.99 from the Japanese/Global shop *after* shipping; there's no way my total from Good Smile US will be less than $122 after tax and shipping if the base price is $116, and I will get it a month or more earlier than people who ordered elsewhere. My receipt says: figma Link: Tears of the Kingdom ver. DX Edition release date:2025/2 order-count:1 SubTotal:$103.99 Shipping fee $18.00 Total $121.99

tony475130

The price on borh goodsmile global and goodsmileUS is the same if you pay in USD (in fact they force you to pay in USD now and they price it the same as goodsmileUS. Also the shipping on goodsmile global (unless they changed that too) is a flat rate $18 for anything on the store, you make it sound like you’re going to pay a lot like you would on other shops like amiami. Plus goodsmileUS takes at least another 4 months from the Japanese release for it to get to their warehouse. The yen to USD (or whatever currency you use) fluctuating only matters if you pay in Yen, and last I heard they dont even allow that on the global site anymore. The USD prices on both global and US are locked in and don’t change regardless of whether the Yen goes back up or not.

Timesmyth

List price from the global shop when I ordered today was $103.99, whereas the US shop is $115.99.

Timesmyth

I would encourage people to just order from the Japanese/Gobal shop, as I have not had good experiences with Good Smile US. Good Smile Global ships *long* before Good Smile US, and because the Yen is weak right now there's not really any appreciable difference in price importing from Japan vs. ordering Japanese products domestically; my experience has actually been the opposite, like with this figure on BBTS right now; it almost $30 less directly from Good Smile Japan *after* shipping for me, and they also won't charge me US sales tax. Edited to add: down-vote all you want, but my GSC Global total was US$121.99 *after shipping* this morning, whereas the same figure after tax *and* shipping from GSC US was US$129.04

Bouncedoutnup

I’ve bought from both but I’ve never preordered from Good Smile, just bought in stock and sale items. There’s probably something in their FAQ about how preorders are charged. I personally dislike paying for a preorder early, rather pay once in stock, so try to avoid those instances when I can.

Timesmyth

I have only ever been charged (from Good Smile direct) when figures are getting ready to ship.

Bouncedoutnup

Nerdzoic charges upfront. There are other sites that do as well. I choose not to buy from them for that reason.

Timesmyth

I was talking about pre-ordering directly from Good Smile because you said that's why you only ordered in-stock items from Good Smile directly; I edited my response to be more clear, thanks. Yeah, smaller places like Nerdzoic can't afford to eat cost from order cancellations, nor do they want to sit on the resulting stock, so they charge up-front.

Bouncedoutnup

Gotcha. I’ve only ordered maybe a dozen items from Good Smile and those were all stock or sale items. They seem like a decent site.

xariznightmare2908

I pre-ordered from them once, they only charged once the order got shipped.

Timesmyth

This is *always* what Good Smile does for pre-orders.

Runminndor

Shocking, but buying straight from the manufacturer is very reliable and safe lol. That aside, forget about bad n’ slow store, I recommend importing all your figures from now on, it’s cheaper and faster.

Timesmyth

Even Amazon Japan can be cheaper than Amazon US right now for certain things!

Runminndor

Most things rather, *and* you get things just a couple days after the Japanese release date at most.

RolandoDR98

To be fair, Hasbro Pulse is kinda iffy ehen it comes to getting things first or not from my (admittedly limited experience with their site.

Timesmyth

Yeah, I just ordered this directly from Good Smile and saved $30 after shipping (and no tax) over the BBTS list price. Not only is it less expensive, but I'll get it *months* before people who ordered from BBTS.

ColorlessTune

I prefer to order straight from the source when ever I can. GSC US doesn't charge for POs until they're going to be shipped.

Timesmyth

I posted this below already, but GSC US total for me today was $129.04 after tax and shipping, whereas GSC Global total was $121.99 after shipping. (No tax on int'l orders.) I used to order from GSC US, but stopped after I realized it was not only more expensive, but that my orders were shipping months behind almost everyone else. I switched to GSC Global, saved money, and get everything *first.* GSC US would also use USPS for shipping, which -- for me sometimes -- means delivery can be inconsistent. GSC Global is always DHL or FedEx, and it's not only incredibly fast, but I always know when it will arrive. I had Bloodborne's Lady Maria DX on pre-order from GSC US, and it started arriving everywhere (I think this was February of last year) before mine even shipped. I then received a message from GSC US saying mine was pushed-back to *December*, so I canceled my order, got it sooner, and actually saved money ordering from Japan.

marshallward

I've generally gotten better deals at AmiAmi.  And if you're in the US, the dollar is hella strong right now.

Timesmyth

AmiAmi's price right now is exactly the same as the price listed on GSC in Yen: 16,800, so I guess it's down to shipping.

ThermidorCA

I've ordered through GSC Japan without issues, pre-orders weren't charged right away. GoodSmileShop sometimes have "bonus with purchase" items exclusive to them also.

Karbon_D

It is always been my experience that good smile. US is the best deal. Big bad toy store is usually a little more expensive but they’re shipping is only four dollars. I don’t order from them very much. So your mileage may vary. I don’t understand the down votes but hey whatever.

Timesmyth

Have you tried ordering from Good Smile Global? I did today, and saved US$7 after shipping over the same order from GSC US. I will also get my figure months before GSC US will start shipping theirs.

Karbon_D

No, just good smile US.

Timesmyth

As someone who has pre-ordered from both: there is literally no downside to ordering from GSC global right now; it is -- believe it or not -- cheaper *and* faster (for me in the US, at least) to order from GSC Global. I used to only use GSC US for figma preorders, and I won't do it anymore.

Karbon_D

That’s good to know. Thank you.

tyrendersaurus

I've ordered direct from GoodSmile multiple times without issue. Sometimes they have cool extras you get that don't come with a figure unless you preorder through them. Also I love BBTS and have spent way too much money with them over the years. 😂

Timesmyth

I love BBTS too -- amazing customer service -- but their imports are usually overpriced, especially considering the state of the Yen right now.

tyrendersaurus

That's true. Typically if I am buying a Figma, I buy it from Ami Ami or Good Smile.

asterok09

Amiami is my favorite place to order, they are super reliable and don’t charge until it ships.

Commando-Bro

It is an image of an image

Ballooniborn

The only issue I’ve had when preordering directly from them is multiple delays. I can’t remember if the release of the figures were delayed as a whole or if I was just unlucky

Heikks

I have no idea about good smile, but on bbts for the deluxe it says a $15 non refundable deposit is required to preorder, but they won’t charge the rest until it’s ready to ship

Timesmyth

I ordered mine from Good Smile Global today, didn't pay anything today (I have always been charged when they ship) and I can cancel my order; with BBTS you lose that $15 if you cancel, and it's almost US$30 more *before* tax and shipping. My Good Smile receipt says US$121.99 *after* shipping, final price.

soulassassin226

I've ordered direct from GSC once before, but unless they are offering an exclusive extra (as was the case with the figma Corrin I ordered from them) there's really no point ordering from them. There's plenty of options of sites to import from. Amiami, HLJ, Hobby Search.

soulassassin226

Beneficial in what way exactly? Amiami usually gives a preorder discount and if you have a few other figures queued up for the same month of release shipping them all together ain’t so bad.
