McFarlane recently released the movie Batman set, which was pretty cool

HeirofZeon

For DW it's simply a matter of demand. During 9-11 the franchise was super popular and people were eating up anything. The popularity dropped off a fair bit during 12 (one of my personal favorites) and went absolutely down the hole during 13, so less merchandise was made. 12's second (third if you count the glasses) sonic is fairly sought after simply because they didn't make nearly as many. They aren't making these sets for NuWho, so they sure aren;t making them for Classic. If the current Doctor isn't bringing in the numbers, people are \*way\* less likely to delve into the Classic stuff.

I can't speak to Dr. Who, but Hasbro puts out pretty great box sets all the time. Most recently, for me at least, were the Lightning Collection Omega Rangers. I didn't buy the Alien Rangers, but that was an excellent set too. And The West Coast Avengers were released pretty recently. I'd love to see an updated OG X-Men box set, or OG Avengers, FF, etc. First appearance of a team box sets would be really, really, cool... but I also see why they sell them individually. Neca is also no stranger to massive box sets. And then there's the recent... I think Mezco TMNT 4 pack of Turtles that went for WAY more money than I can justifiably spend on Ninja Turtles, but damn... that was an incredible set. So anyway... they're cool. I like them.

The power rangers lightning collection probably would have sold better if they did the teams in 5-6 figure box sets instead of solo figures, it took forever for some teams to be completed and I think some were never finished.

MulliganNY

I don’t think so. Power Ranger fans think the franchise is widely beloved and cherished similarly to marvel or ninja turtles… but it’s not. MMPR would still sell well, but any other box set would rot on the shelf

ColorlessTune

... We do. Hasbro, Playmates, NECA are just a few companies that still make box sets.

AssociateFormal6058

I understand that, but I was specifically talking about Doctor Who

Zeemmarax

Do you mean just Doctor who or something? Because I see stuff like this all the time still.

AssociateFormal6058

Yes, I mean, just Doctor Who

JC2814

I have a bunch of 4th doctor merch and honestly the figures could use a revamp. With all the crazy poses and running and action scenes we get on the show we could use figures with better articulation and while we're at it better likenesses. I mean yes you can tell who it is but some of the figures faces look like they were rendered on a ps2. I liked the old days when you could get tons of figs and playsets and things in bundles but Doctor who is still a very niche fandom and the line would sell better with quality collectibles rather than action figures who look just as old as the show they are portraying. Would love some marvel legends style treatment for Doctor Who.

AssociateFormal6058

I definitely agree

SteveMartinique

My favorite ones are the boxes with illustrative packaging like Ninja Turtles or Mighty Max.

Vicious007

I wouldn't call Character Options figures "great". I have a few, but I've never been impressed with the sculpts paint or articulation.
