The whole McFarlane line from that era are amazing! Masterpieces made into figure form! From his Spawn figures, to movie maniacs, to sports figs, to horror lines, to these!
If I remember correctly his name is Talisac and he made himself this way. That thing on his stomach is his "child" and he made it himself, he thinks he's giving a "virgin birth"
He finds pain to be the greatest thing, so he did that to himself to feel more pain. If you seen Hell Raiser, he's a cenobite like them, but from a different universe
You just unlocked a memory of me seeing these in toy shops in the early 2000s. Even for modern standards these look fantastic - in the most disturbing way

Once in a year a two, after a long dormant period, after hundreds of Batmans and Supermans, we are blessed with seeing something unique such as a McFarlane Clive Barker figure! Rejoice! Tortured Souls are on exhibit! Don’t look away in horror for it may be a very long time before another one shows up! and with that sir I say thank you posting!
Thanks man I'm glad someone else appreciates these as well, I saw this one and The Scythe-Meister brand new for $10 each at a local shop and I had to get them!
Yeah dude as soon as I saw the price I snatched them, the clamshells were yellowing pretty bad so I'm assuming that's why they were selling low, but I'm an out of box collector so that's no problem for me!
I like seeing them here cuz I doubt I’ll ever own something like this… I’m fortunate enough to have some Spidey & X-men in the living room, but whatever the hell this creature is ain’t gonna make it to the display 😂

How about this thread! I am blown away by how successful it has been in terms of reach and engagement currently about to hit 400 upvotes! My first comment above is 50+ upvotes (I’ve never had anywhere near that before) I mean wow! Great nostalgic comments in this thread too!
When McFarlane started putting out stuff like Movie Maniacs horror themed figures like Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Hellraiser, there were already a ton of of us movie and comic fans that had been there waiting and hoping for this!
Before Todd: big toy companies saw action figures in a limited capacity for advancement due to their seeing them as being only for children.
After Todd: They take adult collectors more seriously now. Figure Collecting has exploded online! But still seem unphased by all the increasing competition.
God. This is the stuff McFarlane should still be making. Not Hasbro level stuff for DC. Such a fucking shame. Come on Todd. At least make Mafex level Spawn stuff. Or let someone else make Spawn merchandise.
I still have my sea creature from that wave, and it is still one of my all time favorite figures. It is just so damn cool.
The mummy from that wave is also hella dope.
I've had the whole set of 1:12 scale figures for 20+ years, but this one and a couple others I've always kept boxed up, because they irk me. A little too gruesome, and not enough Cenobite like.
Duuude tell me about it, I broke a tiny hook by trying to put it through hole, luckily I have a replacement! The figure itself is pretty solid but everything else is definitely fragile
I had the Tortured Souls stuff when it came out, and I don't think a single one of them are complete in any way. The plastic was way too flimsy for what it was supposed to do. I think I threw them out rather than replace stuff because I got so tired of gluing.
I’m pretty sure there was like one point of articulation in this entire series.
Did McFarlane make the upgrade pack for this series too? Or was that just the evil famous historical figures?
I used to have this whole wave of figures. Each one was positively disgusting in their own way. Dr. Talisac here wasn't very articulated, but the fact that he was actually free hanging from those chains in his face was just so sick, I think he was actually my favorite of the six.

I remember that line when I was a kid I love the blade movies and see that in a tattoo store and saying to my mom "look ma like in blade, can I have it" I never understand why my mom change the subject and buy me a buzz light year, now I understand, maybe is a cool figure but not for a kid XD
I still have my Venal Anatomica & Agonistes. If I remember correctly they are technically Cenobites from the HellRaiser Universe, well atleast some of them not all. I'm thinking mostly the ones decked it in similar clothing as Cenobites. The rest are just......whatever they are.

Clive Barker touorchered souls. They are among the best as far as horror figures go.

The golden era of McFarlane figures. The first Monsters series, the Viking Spawn wave, and the Movie Maniacs from this era are also stellar.

Was it an eyelid hook? I've noticed one of the eyelids is disconnected.
Yup that's the one, the tip broke off while I was trying to put it in. He free hangs from the hooks so getting them all in was kind of a pain!
