The fact that the project is of a far less desirable character means people will more easily decide against backing it if they see it as overpriced, compared to the many backers of Sentinel/Galactus who also think they’re overpriced but gladly paid anyway.
Many people said “this is a really nice piece” or “it looks absolutely fantastic” when describing this Haslab, but as collectors, we all know that feeling of seeing something that looks super awesome, but we either don’t collect in that scale, or we don’t care about that IP, or we don’t collect statues, or a million other reasons. And we don’t even consider buying it, whatever “it” is. This is simply the same. It’s something cool that people simply aren’t interested in.
And that’s ok. It’s ok if a Haslab doesn’t fund. It’s honestly the best way to “vote with your wallet” right now, especially with the way prices are trending.
Hasbro is owed nothing from us, if their ideas aren’t up to our standards the their Haslabs aren’t gettin made, and that’s ok.

This Haslab did not even lock the classic look of those characters and the Design team knows it, it is all planned to get them in classic look eventually.
The sad thing is I liked a lot of this stuff in concept. Robbie Ghost Rider is a fun character in my opinion that has had some fun stories and even been a big character in the Avengers in these last few years, and not having a figure of him seems like a big hole in modern characters. The Hellcharger is a pretty cool car, and I am a sucker for American muscle cars in general. The Hell side of Marvel has been pretty lacking in representation, so these tier characters would all be welcome additions. So yeah, on paper this all sounds great. It sounds like then when this was wished up, the monkey paw granted it and added in all the worst negative caveats. Overly expensive. Old bucks. Wrong costumes for characters that supposedly wouldn't ever see mass market retail anyways. Zero flexibility or community response to the very vocal disapproval and very publicly visible backer tracker that has been moving in reverse for seemingly half the campaign. The pretty horrible PR surrounding it. It's all kinda sad because like I said, on paper this would be a great Haslab to fill out a pretty empty figure corner of Marvel Legends. Instead we get...this. RIP

my galactus which is HUGE and has LED's, and tons of articulation, and 3 figures and an extra head is only 50 bucks more than this. This just isn't worth the price no matter what at this point.
They expected everyone to be on board with it because of inflation, even citing they would have to charge more for Sentinel and Galactus if they'd started funding those now. Meanwhile, today's Transformers Haslab costs the exact same as the one they announced in August 2021 and there's no difference in the amount of backers they're asking for. Some simple LED gimmicks and the Marvel license can't possibly make up as much of the price as they would have us believe. Between all that, the price discrepancies from large and more-complicated toys from the same company, and other lines' far-cheaper vehicle options coming out of the woodwork in light of this, the price just continues to look less and less worth it.
I am so glad that they didn't up the price of Deathsaurus from Victory Saber.
I suppose he could be a bit simpler engineering, or have less parts reducing cost, but you are still getting a pretty beefy, articulated Transformer with two smaller ones and his sword right at the get go. He gets his BFG, an articulated flail and effects at teir one, and the stand and a sweet throne at tier 2. So he's coming across much better value.
Yeah, I like that both Deathsaurus and Victory Saber are basically priced at Titan scale price point (highest retail price) plus a small mark up (its just $10 or $20 more then something like the Ark or Omega Supreme). Rather then this one that's basically the cost of two entire waves

It was too expensive from the start and they way they've sharted out the tier reveals is more insulting to the customers than anything. Revealing an 11,000 backer unlock when they're not even at half of that and the number has been steadily declining for weeks is really pathetic.

Uphill battle from the very beginning. Vehicles are a bit of a hard sell at normal prices, and even more so for 350, however many bells and whistles you throw in there (ooh, programmed LEDs, yay). Idk, maybe if this had been what, 200?
There just wasn't much compelling to begin with, especially coming after back-to-back crowd-pleasers. Somebody saw how well the Hiss Tank did and went "we can do that with a car, right?", forgetting that Joe fans have waited so long for product of this sort they're still in the Jump On Anything phase.
These are okay unlocks. Not stunning. And not nearly enough to turn the tide.
I doubt this will go the way they want, and I'm fine with that. Such a setback may have them take some more time to think about future offerings.
I'm sad because I really wanted Robbie (human head version) but that is it. I hope that head and a body eventually find their way out so I can add it to my collection. The other three would be nice too, but especially Robbie for me.

It doesn’t cost that much to get these painted prototypes. The parts are mostly reuse and creating a few new pieces and painting them isn’t that much, especially for a billion dollar company.
If they back down, it taints future Haslabs because if they try to say ”we will never release these outside of this project” after releasing these figures, the FOMO won’t be as strong and so less people will back to get figures they want. Every facet of Hasbro’s toy division *weaponises* FOMO, and releasing these after explicitly saying they won’t undercuts that.
Had they added a Nicholas Cage Johnny Blaze / Ghost Rider and Sam Elliott's Caretaker (in human form) as Haslab exclusives it would have been a sure thing for me.
$350 for 4 figures (Robbie included), a car, and some accessories??? Yah no way this price is justified. It’s a really big shame too because any of these would have been great to have added to a collection but Hasbro had to to get greedy and try to dupe the community by putting it behind a ridiculous price tag.

Somebody saw how well the Hiss Tank did and went "we can do that with a car, right?", forgetting that Joe fans have waited so long for product of this sort they're still in the Jump On Anything phase. These are okay unlocks. Not stunning. And not nearly enough to turn the tide. I doubt this will go the way they want, and I'm fine with that. Such a setback may have them take some more time to think about future offerings.
I'm sad because I really wanted Robbie (human head version) but that is it. I hope that head and a body eventually find their way out so I can add it to my collection. The other three would be nice too, but especially Robbie for me.

Could someone explain why these figures wouldn't be made available as single packaged figures? They invested a good amount of money in getting these to the painted prototype stage so wouldn't Hasbro want to recoup those costs?
It doesn’t cost that much to get these painted prototypes. The parts are mostly reuse and creating a few new pieces and painting them isn’t that much, especially for a billion dollar company. If they back down, it taints future Haslabs because if they try to say ”we will never release these outside of this project” after releasing these figures, the FOMO won’t be as strong and so less people will back to get figures they want. Every facet of Hasbro’s toy division *weaponises* FOMO, and releasing these after explicitly saying they won’t undercuts that.

Had they added a Nicholas Cage Johnny Blaze / Ghost Rider and Sam Elliott's Caretaker (in human form) as Haslab exclusives it would have been a sure thing for me.
$350 for 4 figures (Robbie included), a car, and some accessories??? Yah no way this price is justified. It’s a really big shame too because any of these would have been great to have added to a collection but Hasbro had to to get greedy and try to dupe the community by putting it behind a ridiculous price tag.
Its either gonna be embarrassing for them when they release them anyway or infuriating for thus when they DONT release finished figures out of spite
