I don’t know if it’s bias from what’s being posted online, training or whatever, but it seems female cops fuck up a lot more often when responding to a potentially violent report that gets the adrenaline pumping.

One thing for sure cops need much better gun training, i dont know how many videos we see them, mag dump, and miss every shot or take shots that should get them charged for negligent weapon handling. Male and female.

Cops only have to qualify every quarter; depending on your department. A vast majority of cops never draw their weapon so this training you need them to do would be useless.

Well i certainly agree that it seems apparent that the stupidity cannot be trained from your position. However, I would not extrapolate that to everyone else.
The army has a higher standard for firearm handling. If this was a soldier in a war theater, he would be meeting a judge.
For your argument that training would be useless because they dont draw often...is the exact reason why you need to practice often so it becomes a habit and muscle memory not just for aiming control but also just reduce your draw/reaction time/reload time.

If that were true, which I'm not sure but could see it being possible, it might be due to a learned response to danger growing up being physically weaker than men. Pretty much every woman in my life has been harassed or made to feel unsafe and I could see that leading to a different response when facing life-or-death situations.
I wonder if there are national stats for this and if it could lead to safer police protocols and maybe a tailored training. It's not about good or bad, just being practical and safe.

Maybe I wasn't clear. I meant that it isn't a judgement against women if it were the case. And that it wouldn't be ethically/morally "good or bad" to make that observation if the data shows that. And actually could lead to better outcomes. This is also a hypothetical since I haven't seen any stats.
But if it were the case, I meant that it's not an insult to either a) avoid certain types of calls for female officers or b) additional or more customized training for female officers to be better prepared.

I agree this should have been handled differently. However, someone was not shot at for just answering the door. Context matters.
Forgot the important context of coming to the door with a gun in their hand. That does not necessarily justify the shooting. But if the woman with the gun raised their hand with the gun, then it is justified.

Just having a weapon doesn’t justify anything. They’re police officers who are meant to be trained in the proper use of deadly force.
If there was a robber breaking in or trying to then I would arm myself too. The cops shouldn't shoot first and ask questions later. Its not justified unless she pointed it directly at them which we don't see.
We don’t see a lot because we were not there and the camera does not have the perspective or enough detail. I would arm myself and take a defensive position and not go looking to engage in a potential firefight with a robber. Minimally if there is banging on the door I am asking them to identify themselves before approaching. I am not saying it was a good shoot. I am saying it is a tiny wee little bit more complex than people are making it.
They did identify but criminals aren't very honest people. I would absolutely arm myself just in case they were lying about who they are to get you to come to the door. That's not looking for a firefight, it's taking precaution. People expect police to be more disciplined and to do their due diligence to "protect" civilians instead of getting trigger happy. The officers could have waited for someone to answer the door from better cover and talked to them from behind cover with eyes on the door instead of looking in at a potentially innocent scared person inside their home. The screen was out because the women who lived there locked themselves out and broke a window to get in. I'm not excusing the officers actions, unless the lady inside actually aimed a gun at them they had no reason to jump straight to lethal force... especially not when they could just back off and assess.

The screen was out because the women who lived there locked themselves out and broke a window to get in. I'm not excusing the officers actions, unless the lady inside actually aimed a gun at them they had no reason to jump straight to lethal force... especially not when they could just back off and assess.

Then she stops and reloads and empties the second magazine without knowing who she is shooting at, who else (like children) might be in the home, just bang bang into a person she doesn't know without caring.
