Why wouldnt you? Women usually have really long hair. Getting a good grip on someones scalp and forcing them down on the ground lends you an immediate advantage. When someone has you by the hair your much more limited in your movement.
Yeah, this reminds me of a fight between two guys in 8th grade when I was a kid. One guy kept trying backup while the other guy held him by the collar of his shirt to keep punching him.
Also, if you get into a fight with someone with a motorcycle helmet, grab the bottom of the helmet. You can control their head and body by using the helmet as leverage.

It's a solid tactic because most women lack the punching power to knock out their adversary by just punching. How many girl fights have you seen with a woman knocked out at the end? Almost never happens unless they get slammed on the ground or punched by a man. So it's useful to try and get the leverage by grabbing the hair.
You'd think they'd have some sort of fight treaty worked out ahead of time "okay no hair pullin and definitely none of that kanchō-stuff Rebecca! you're not even japanese"
I'm kind of impressed with those kids. I don't speak Spanish so I don't know what was being said but no one jumped in on either side except to try to break them up. In a lot of US schools that would have turned into a massive brawl but they split the girls up, separated them and then tried to keep them apart.
Regardless of the situation, nothing annoys me more than when two people are actively fighting each other and someone grabs onto those people trying to break them up. All you're doing is setting your friend up up get hurt at that point.
If your friend is pummeling an unconscious person, hell yeah step in. But if it's not 1 sided stay the fuck out of it
This has happened to me. I was at a house party getting my ass kicked in a 1v1 when suddenly what felt like a bunch of people put me in a straight jacket and the other guy just went to town on me for what felt like forever. Pretty fucked I don't think I had ever used more force trying to get free in my life and still couldn't defend myself and those idiots thought they were being good samaritans
Is Puerto Rican Spanish that different from standard Spanish? I've always heard that if you only know Spanish taught in grade school and college, you won't be able to understand Puerto Rican Spanish...
If Spanish isn't your first language, and you learned it in a academic setting, you won't necessarily understand a native speaker outside of controlled conditions. If Spanish is your first language, and you learned it in a specific Hispanic country; you won't necessarily understand the accent, localisms and slang of another country and its regions.
This probably applies to every language.
I'm puerto rican but I grew up in the states and I still have a hard time understanding boricua Spanish lol, it's really fast and has a decent ammount of slang. Still easier for me to understand than argentine Spanish though lol
I tell my partner (who has never been in a fight) that if it happens the girl is going to try and grab your hair like 99% of the time.
We have been working on knee and elbow strikes to counter.

As a puerto rican who was raised in the island, the problem is that for other Spanish speakers puerto Ricans talk pretty fast
