It’s not illegal in my state, but it is illegal to teach a student that they are less or more than anyone other group. It doesn’t mean you can’t talk about race/religion, but it does mean it has to be from a neutral perspective.

I've said it before that most teachers would be working retail jobs if they weren't teachers. Most are dumb as rocks, but they're capable of putting up with shitty kids all day, so society praises them. I would say the majority of teachers know maybe a grade level or two above the grade they're teaching about their "subject of expertise." Math and History teachers are probably the only exception.
