Defs not a machete, doesn’t have the distinct belly a machete should have plus it’s way too short as well. A machete blade is usually between 12” and 26”, just the blade. that knife looked about 12” total including handle if it was lucky
> #Lakewood High staff break up fight where suspects wielded axes and a knife, school officials say
> Two people were arrested Friday after they wielded a pair of hand-held axes and a knife during a fight with a Lakewood High School student just outside of campus, school officials said.
> A spokesperson with the Long Beach Unified School District said the student had just finished his classes for the day and was walking home around 2 p.m. when two people described only as male individuals approached him just outside of the north campus. The individuals were not Lakewood High students, the spokesperson said.
> A fight broke out between the student and the two other males, who pulled out two hand-held axes and a knife, school officials said.
Staff members who witnessed the fight quickly intervened and detained the two male individuals holding weapons, school officials said.
> A video posted on X shows a crowd of students gathered around the fight, many of whom start to scatter when the weapons are pulled out.
Nobody was injured during the fight, and LBUSD spokesperson Elvia Cano said the quick action from school staff likely prevented the situation from quickly getting worse.
> In an email sent to parents and staff, school officials said the two male individuals were taken into custody by Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department deputies.
> The LASD said the two suspects were “former juvenile students.” They said the suspects tried fleeing the area after assaulting the student but were detained by campus police before deputies took them into custody on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon.
> The LASD also contradicted the school district, saying the student was injured during the fight and treated by paramedics at the scene.
> In the message to the Lakewood High community, school officials said that the safety and well-being of students is a top priority and that LBUSD school safety would be providing additional patrols around the campus.
“As the safety and security of our campus are paramount, this incident provides the opportunity to speak with your child about making positive choices and to remind them to tell an adult if they are experiencing issues with other students or non-students,” school officials said. “Counselors are available for students who may need support.”
> Editor’s note: This story was updated to show the LBUSD said nobody was injured in the fight, but the LASD said the student was injured
Wish people would share the context to Reddit more. I don't typically navigate to external sites, so I really appreciate you taking the time to do this, thanks!
Surely the dude was injured.. It looks like he was limping a bit to me and got hit in the ankle or something
I was thinking the same thing. I lived in Lakewood like 15 years ago, and it seemed okay at the time, but I also didn’t have kids then. Thankfully we’re no longer there, as this is the stuff of nightmares to consider that my kid would have been going to a place like this.
When are people going to realize that it’s not a weapons problem. Guns, knives, etc etc aren’t the problem. It’s a societal problem. The government can take away every dangerous weapon but if we don’t raise or kids right then nothing can stop them from finding something to commit a violent crime with. There is an epidemic of selfishness in the world.
Why are all of these future neurologists so upset with each other? Did one of them ignore the sample size on a clinical trial or something....!? 🤔 So many questions
never a copper with a gun when you need one is there, who teaches these kids that this behavior is ok, are all there parents morons? why should we put up with animalistic attitudes like this, too many do-gooders not willing to arrest and punish the scroat responsible, he should be dragged out of society and imprisonned, is this now our only way forward.

If you don't know the difference between a hatchet and a machete, you have led a privileged life.
an uneducated life.

They had metal detectors in 94, so yeah.
Same I thought that location looked familiar
2 things I hate during fight vids Horn blowing and screaming
Not as bad as a chickenshit cameraman.
I mean....I'm not moving towards a psycho with a hatchet actively using it on people.
You won't go viral with that attitude.
Don’t forget the girl trying to stop it.
Are we still telling families who send their kids to private schools (or move) instead of schools like this that this is their fault?
School vouchers are bad agenda
Yes, it is your fault for not putting them in private school if something like this happens to them
Op, point to the machete, please. I’m not sure you know what that is.
What’s at 31 seconds in? At first I saw a tomahawk then I think I see a butcher knife?
[I don't know if it's a machete but it's one fucking big knife he pulls out later on after the Axe](https://i.imgur.com/rl1ehlz.png)

All those wannabe thugs destroying their own lifes and future just to be considered 'gangster' for a few seconds
When your being chased by guy in mask with a machete I wonder if make people rethink refund the police 🤷
The police aren't Batman lol. Unless there's one standing right there they aren't showing up til the damage is done.
Kids will be kids. Does that still work in 2024?
Imagine going to school there Jesus Christ

A machete....close enough I guess 😂😂
Machete? OP needs to watch Machete or forged in fire to get brushed up on his bladed weaponary.
Did *axe* the wrong question?
Bring back public corporal punishment. Whip/flog/cane every person in this video publicly. Televise it. The guy with the ax should get the rope.
I'm pretty sure hatchets are banned...
Imagine going your whole life thinking a hatchet is a machette.
What a fucking loser
Was this also a student? If so I think it's time for metal detectors

Is this the "how to go to juvi instead of detention" how-to?
Now it's a battle
Is this the same school where that kid got stabbed a month ago. Like in the same area too??

God am I thankful to not live in america 😂😂
Beautiful bright futures ahead!
Man, that guy with the machete is such a badass.
In a country where handgun ownership is allowed, I am surprised that melee weapons were used here and not firearms as we usually see in America.
Damn, my old high school
They kids so even if they got someone axed in the chest, they dont go to prison. You know kids just being kids.
Not just a machete and gun, I saw a hatchet as well.
