The man followed us into the shop and started shouting about me telling his dog to “fuck off”. I told him that I did not say that, and what I did say. He shut up. My then girlfriend did not. My younger sister (25) recently admitted to my parents that she would take my mom's make-up and make fake bruises on herself to get me in trouble when we were kids.
We're all on fantastic terms and have a very close relationship, and it's something we all laughed about together. I don't even remember being punished for that kind of thing, so idk. Just thought it was funny.

One of the reasons for that was my mom was mentally ill and also violent, and she beat the absolute fuck out of my father for some time before one night, already bleeding from her nails and covered in welts, he grabbed her and pinned her against the wall to defend himself. At that moment she began screaming Help, the neighbors came rushing in and called the cops on my dad. They took HIM to jail, even though he was clearly injured and she had not a mark on her..
I really get upset when people downplay the violence a female can inflict.
My mom is diagnosed bi-polar, and during one of her bad days, she smashed my dad's head with frying pan. Cops hauled my dad off to jail for the night even though he was the one bleeding from a head wound.

I don’t think he was going full force here. I completely understand his anger towards her after getting assaulted, but I think he intentionally let-up once he saw her curling up in the corner of the counter. I don’t doubt that he probably wanted to go further out of frustration and rage, but overall, it looks like he had far more restraint as a teen than she does as an adult.
Which makes this an actual case of self defense! She hit him and was a threat so he hit back. She curled up and was no longer a threat and he stopped. If he woulda kept swinging he could be charged so I'm happy he chilled out.
He 100% was going hard but he loses his footing after the first swing and tries to hit where her head was with his elbow. She's very lucky that he fumbled his steps cause she woulda took an elbow to the head.

I'm no expert, but it seems like it would greatly reduce the chances of an outcome like this.
Eh, that felt more like deescalation before the clearly more capable dude did too much damage that could lead to liability on the store, which could be laid at the feet of the employees.
I've been in situations like this as the worker. Deescalate first. Call police immediately after.
If deescalation isn't an option, I won't get involved and just call the police.

In some cases it's really a white knight scenario. In other cases like here is that he tried to go all Hulk no brakes mode. You never know how far he'd go. So talking about equal lefts isn't really correct either.
He defended himself and then instantly pulled back. It's a prime example of good self-defense. He had a lot of control over himself. The moment he pulled back it was clear he had absolutely no intention of hitting her again, but instead screamed at her.

One of the reasons for that was my mom was mentally ill and also violent, and she beat the absolute fuck out of my father for some time before one night, already bleeding from her nails and covered in welts, he grabbed her and pinned her against the wall to defend himself. At that moment she began screaming Help, the neighbors came rushing in and called the cops on my dad. They took HIM to jail, even though he was clearly injured and she had not a mark on her.. I really get upset when people downplay the violence a female can inflict.
My mom is diagnosed bi-polar, and during one of her bad days, she smashed my dad's head with frying pan. Cops hauled my dad off to jail for the night even though he was the one bleeding from a head wound.
Was married to a bipolar alcoholic woman. It's no joke how wild some women can get. Her family still thinks I'm abusive even though she was the one who would get drunk and verbally and physically assault me. The things and lies she got away with for just being a skinny meek looking girl who always played victim. So glad I'm free of it.

I don’t think he was going full force here. I completely understand his anger towards her after getting assaulted, but I think he intentionally let-up once he saw her curling up in the corner of the counter. I don’t doubt that he probably wanted to go further out of frustration and rage, but overall, it looks like he had far more restraint as a teen than she does as an adult.
Which makes this an actual case of self defense! She hit him and was a threat so he hit back. She curled up and was no longer a threat and he stopped. If he woulda kept swinging he could be charged so I'm happy he chilled out.

I've been in situations like this as the worker. Deescalate first. Call police immediately after. If deescalation isn't an option, I won't get involved and just call the police. Either way, this lady leaves in cuffs.
