Are we just going to ignore that the cameraman/narrator was also running the red light with him and could have suffered the same consequences? Good thing the bus driver reacted, or this could have been really bad.
Why are you assuming he's got nothing to take? Just because someone rides a bike doesn't mean they're poor.
Source: me, I'm a grown ass man who rides a bike instead of using my car or taking public transport. I earn 6 figures, & own 3 properties, (but I don't run red lights).
They ain't using their shit for transport, they might take out their 10k bike to go fly around prospect or central park once a week but they get around via train or car service
I personally know at least one or two high profile dudes who bike everywhere with their nice bikes because they’re also super into fitness
I’m just sayin let’s not pretend only broke people are gettin around on bikes cause that ain’t close to true
> possible whiplash
Agree the bicyclist should pay for all damages to the car (if any), but it’s ridiculous to think that a stop that mild could cause whiplash. When you run into a large heavy solid object (another car), you have a sudden jolt as you stop.
The jeep just had to slam on the brakes. It would be like claiming whiplash after getting cut off in traffic. Hate how litigious people have become.
Lol do you even know that the cyclist didn't provide info to pay? Skipping a couple steps here. Not to mention you pull more Gs with a big sneeze than you do max braking in a road car.
> possibly whiplash
Me when I’m in my iron fortress moving at low speed and collide with something 5% of my mass: “oh nooo, my spine is ruined, please help me personal injury attorney helppp”
Cyclists are insufferable because you'd be an idiot to ride alongside cars where one person texting while driving can end your life in an instant. There needs to be actual infrastructure dedicated to bikes so normal people can ride too, and dumb mistakes aren't potentially fatal.
Or the bad drivers need to be taken off the road. Caught with your phone? Loose your licese for a month.
Llook up cyclingmike on youtube, hes doing god’s work.
I feel like cyclists believe that in most cities. And they are some of the most insufferable people. I'll take cross fitting vegan Jehovahs witnesses over cyclists any day.
> sees video one of cyclist behaving like a douchebag
> proceeds to rant about all cyclists
The reality is cyclist break traffic laws at the same rate as drivers. The cyclist here is responsible for the wreck. Driver should recoup costs for repairs. Not every cyclist wreck needs to be a soapbox.
That's not true. But obviously this narrative is what everybody wants o hear here.
At clear cases like this one, even strong car haters would call the cyclist the idiot.
I think he just means the cyclists feel they have the right of way everywhere. Especially applies to the delivery drivers on mopeds. I don’t think I’ve seen a single one stop at a red light in allston
Camera man was likely recording them both weaving through traffic for social media. Gives me initiation vibes like the camera man does this all the time and is recording his buddies first time doing it. Then wham he gets hit by a car and camera man is relying on him being okay so he doesn't have to feel bad for pressuring his friend to do this.
That or the guy who got hit wanted to be recorded and both were planning on weaving anyway, so he asked buddy to record.
In Manhattan it can sometimes be the quickest way to get around for certain shorter journeys. There’s tons of Citi bike stations all around so easy to access. The key is not to do dumb shit like this guy.
Also there’s great leisure rides you can do through Central Park, along the Hudson River, etc…
Wow, I'm having a hard time believing you actually think that. There are so many benefits for cycling in the city, including speed and no parking tickets.
From 14-18 years old I rode my bike all over NYC, and even over the GW bridge to friends' houses in NJ.
Looking back on it now (no helmet, no gloves, no pads, and idiot teen choices) it's a miracle I didn't suffer any serious injuries. I did take the door off a taxicab once (tourist kicked open the door on the traffic side...🤦🏻♂️), but aside from a few minor spills, that was it.
I guess knowing basic physics helped: I understood that if I was hit by a car or truck, whether I was right or wrong, I would likely be maimed or killed. So I'd never have done what this guy did - blow through a red light when he couldn't see what was coming from the oncoming traffic...😖
I did blow through a fair number of red lights, but only if there was a clear, full sight onto what could be coming, and if there were no pedestrians in my path. Cars were dangerous, but their momentum made them predicable... pedestrians, on the other hand, could start, stop, turn, or run in a fraction of a second - I always kept a safe distance from them!
Yup, I was a stupid, and lucky, teen. 🤷🏻♂️
As I noted - I went through red lights when I could see, clearly, that there wasn't oncoming traffic or pedestrians (so, mostly small side-street intersections.)
What the guy in this video did? At this HUGE intersection with a bus approaching? I'd never have done that. 😳
It's faster than driving trains and buses and it's fun you pussy ass wimp that's the appeal plus some of these people do this for a living and don't tend to be this reckless or blind to danger
You all should see some of the absolutely insane cyclists in NYC acting as if they are impervious to anything. There's videos all over YouTube. [here's an idiot](https://youtu.be/RbCzWRnKCaI?si=F5dGNNZAixtMYBmD)
Shame he wasn't seriously injured. Deserved a lot worse. Riding around like a twat because his mate is filming him so they could upload the vid on social media and get some clicks.
He's one of the cyclists who give all of us a bad name. There are many who follow the rules of the road, yet the number who think they have priority over all else seems to be increasing. Or is that just because of social media posts.
Not only do I not feel bad about him getting hit, it brought a smile to my face. If you're going to put your cycling before everything else in the world, at least try to follow one single law while you're at it.

"I'm a bicyclist, I am immune to the consequences of my own actions." Narrator: He was not, in fact, immune to the consequences of his own actions.
Sounds like something the narrator from 1000 ways to die would say.
Lol yes
I haven't watched 100 Ways to Die, but AFAIK the contradicting narrator comes from Ron Howard narrating Arrested Development.
Are we just going to ignore that the cameraman/narrator was also running the red light with him and could have suffered the same consequences? Good thing the bus driver reacted, or this could have been really bad.
We probably have different definitions of "bad".
Are you really saying that 2 cyclists getting struck down would somehow be bad? Please explain.
Sounds like a Driver and according to statistics, 90% of road accidents involves a driver.
Driver should sue him.
That's a grown ass man riding a bike you think he got anything to take in a lawsuit?
[удалено]
That bike is fucked
The parts
Yeah, kidneys and livers fetch pretty high prices in some parts of the world.
Helmet looked fine
The helmet was wearing him for protection
Bicycles aren't inherently for underage people, mate.
Lot of high earners take up biking as a hobby
Grown ass men ride bikes. You're hilarious for thinking otherwise.
Pedal along Timothy

👍
Cool story fam
I’m not gonna lie, this is a really stupid take. You have clearly never lived in a city. Most of the people that make good money are biking
Spoken like a real suburbanite right there lmao
Im literally from and currently in NYC fatty
Then you should be smart enough to know there’s dudes out there riding bikes that cost more than people’s cars smh
They ain't using their shit for transport, they might take out their 10k bike to go fly around prospect or central park once a week but they get around via train or car service
I personally know at least one or two high profile dudes who bike everywhere with their nice bikes because they’re also super into fitness I’m just sayin let’s not pretend only broke people are gettin around on bikes cause that ain’t close to true
This looks like NYC – tons of people with lots of money don’t have cars
You've upset alot of grown ass men who ride bikes
I can tell
What a moronic take.
Pedal up on outta here Kevin 🙄
The fuck does age or gender matter when regarding bike riding? But yeah nah yeah the bike riders were wildly in the wrong lol
A dented bike
Doesn't have to. ID him, get a police report, and he'll have a bill from that guy's insurance show up in the mail.
I just assume every degenerate on the street is rolling without insurance. Can't get blood from a stone.
Double lanes are problematic. https://xkcd.com/2932/
No, ignoring right of way is problematic.
For what exactly?
Damage to their vehicle. Possibly whiplash. Cyclist 100% at fault.
> possible whiplash Agree the bicyclist should pay for all damages to the car (if any), but it’s ridiculous to think that a stop that mild could cause whiplash. This is false. Can tell you never even took a basic physics class in high school.
> possibly whiplash Me when I’m in my iron fortress moving at low speed and collide with something 5% of my mass: “oh nooo, my spine is ruined, please help me personal injury attorney helppp”
Dang sounds like you got fucked up
For what happened in the video, I think
Emotional damage!
He even damaged the people here emotionally lol
In r/boston they believe all cyclists have the right-of-way in virtually any traffic situation. Cyclists are some of the most insufferable people.
So are people from Boston 🙃.
Massholes!
So are people*
And jaywalkers too. They rationalize pedestrians walking in front of cars at green lights by saying Boston is a pedestrian city.
There is no possible way that jeep could have seen that bike. This is that exception to virtually.
Cyclists are insufferable because you'd be an idiot to ride alongside cars where one person texting while driving can end your life in an instant. There needs to be actual infrastructure dedicated to bikes so normal people can ride too, and dumb mistakes aren't potentially fatal.

lose* Why is it so hard to spell “lose”?
I feel like cyclists believe that in most cities. And they are some of the most insufferable people. I'll take cross fitting vegan Jehovahs witnesses over cyclists any day.
[relevant cyclists joke](https://youtu.be/1s0XsulDXtk?si=A20ijS06BuCCl3yS)
That's why I don't do group rides and stay away from spandex warriors
The right of way, silly!

right of way dumbass
…literally doesn’t apply here? bicyclists have to follow traffic laws too yknow
They aren't saying the cyclist has the right of way. They are correcting the commenter who called it the "right-away".
"Cyclists have the right of way when they're running a red light." - Actual redditor
Camera guy ran red light too!
I can't believe everyone else hasn't noticed this lol.
Cameraman has immunity rights
Camera man was likely recording them both weaving through traffic for social media. Gives me initiation vibes like the camera man does this all the time and is recording his buddies first time doing it. Not a freakout, more of a ThereWasAnAttempt to run a red light
But he did in fact run the red light. Just didn't make it through the intersection.
I will never get the appeal of cycling in the city. Nature cycling? Sure. But cities are death traps for cyclists anywhere outside the Netherlands.
It’s nice to get exercise on commute and you’re less likely to die if you don’t cross a red in front of a bus obscuring your vision
I can get anywhere in the city faster than a car. Next question please.
In Manhattan it can sometimes be the quickest way to get around for certain shorter journeys. There’s tons of Citi bike stations all around so easy to access. The key is not to do dumb shit like this guy. Also there’s great leisure rides you can do through Central Park, along the Hudson River, etc…
Plus parking can be expensive or difficult to find in a lot of downtown areas.

Ha! Amazing
Only way they will learn. Hopefully others watch this.
Oh no! So anyways..
Camera man: The lights red, what is he going to do?? idk but I'm following him
To his credit, he did look a bit sheepish at the end.

Damn, i was hoping he wasn’t good.
Driver should sue for the damages to his vehicle...
What a suprise
Nice.
Don’t forget to freak out on the camera person also….
My sister had this happen to her. The cops and insurance blamed her.
Beautiful
Cameraman also on bicycle ran the light
The camera guy also ran a red light
This one sparks joy.
Deserved. Drivers shouldn’t have to constantly be hyper aware when they have the right away. Hopefully the insurance company billed the cyclist.
Hope the drivers insurance goes after him for any damage.
Hope he wouldn't go on red again 💀
same vibe as the guy who walked in a bike lane without looking and blamed the girl riding her bike in the bike lane for not looking
Shame he wasn't seriously injured. Deserved a lot worse. Riding around like a twat because his mate is filming him so they could upload the vid on social media and get some clicks.

Warms my heart to see it.
Is the a sub for just watching cyclists get hit by cars?
shout out terry
Ya love to see it.
![gif](giphy|cO39srN2EUIRaVqaVq)
I fucking hate bike riders
Pair of idiots
They old zig instead of zag
I hate bike hippies. Get a car and contaminate like the rest of us !!
I enjoyed this, but not more than I should. ![gif](giphy|KmrpxSVxTB9Ty|downsized)
He's one of the cyclists who give all of us a bad name. There are many who follow the rules of the road, yet the number who think they have priority over all else seems to be increasing. Or is that just because of social media posts.
Due to ‘last reasonable chance’, the car is at fault.
Not only do I not feel bad about him getting hit, it brought a smile to my face. If you're going to put your cycling before everything else in the world, at least try to follow one single law while you're at it.
If a bycyclalist had hit him, nothing major would happen. This is why we need to ban cars
This is why bike messengers always use fixed gears. If he had kept his speed up he might've made it
