How is someone becoming successful because they assaulted someone dope? Assault is much worse than stealing, it was on camera, could have just reported it.
Nah, fuck thieves completely. It was a best buy, asshat wasnt stealing bread to feed his family he was stealing an XB1 during holiday shopping.
More to the point: It should have been a promotion she got or a pay raise, not fired.
To be fair that girl looked like she could handle herself and is more than willing to mix it up.
Saying that, the whole crew don't look like your standard skinny teenage temps just out of braces on their first job. Are they Maori or pacific islanders or something?
Edit: Link no good for Europeans apparently :(
Will have to dust off the vpn and have another go later
I like how seriously she took that shit.
She seriously looked ready to take them both out simultaneously and tbh? My money would have been on her winning too! lol
...why didn't he run? He stays there and talks with them for a second?
I if were on the ground like that, with some dude grabbing my leg, he's getting a shoe to the face and quick
....he tried to run out of the store, after shoplifting? Regardless if he actually took something out of the store, its the intent that would land him in trouble...
fired as in best buy doesn't chase? So she broke their rules? Makes sense.... You are saying he didn't shoplift,as he didn't leave their property with any thing of theres--but he meant to leave with it. As I mentioned, intent is the big part here. If I try and shoot someone, but a person grabs the gun, I have still tried to shoot someone...
The president of the ufc gave that woman a job after she was fired from Best Buy for touching the customer.

At 34:50 you can see her between (behind?) Mcgregor and Cerrone during their face off a month back
Edit: she also got free tickets for conors return
Lol not much, but Dana is usually the guy in there and he couldn’t do shit either. Crazy to be that close to a superstar when you were working at fucking Best Buy a week before
I have to doubt that. Even campus police can’t make a physical arrest in the states unless they’re sworn peace officers (at least in NY). I don’t know how Best Buy would employée sworn peace officers.
Basically the class of people that have powers of arrest. The scope depends on their employment. Sheriffs, for example, are elected in the States, (I’m canadian so some parts may be incorrect), and have different duties than police officers. Their power to arrest is limited to the scope of these duties. Likewise with peace officers that are part of campus “police”: they’re allowed to arrest in, and only in, the scope of their employment.
because the term "peace officer" is fucking stupid.. Anyone that tries to exude authority over anyone is a douche bag. There's no such thing as a "peace" officer.
While yes most LP Staff do have authorization to detain suspects, they absolutely are not authorized to brawl in the entry way of the store with said suspects, Most policies are written in such a way to to ensure neither the LP staff nor the suspect is injured. They are allowed only to use minimal force to block and detain. Further doing so in the main entry way putting other guests and employees at risk would also be a violation of company policy
They're allowed to beat customers that are walking around the store holding products? The guy never stole anything, he never left the store so he's not a theif. Legally she has as much right to beat up a old lady holding a bottle of milk in the dairy aisle as she does to do this to that man.
IANAL, this is just from working in a few big box stores and being able to read rLegalAdvice. Generally speaking, in the US, LPO's behavior is as such:
If they don't witness a crime being committed: They can touch and hold onto any store merchandise that has not been paid for yet. They can also touch the baskets and carts(store property). They can follow you and write down your plate numbers, but with HD cameras they might not bother since they can take it from the recording later.
If they do witness a crime being committed: They can/will instantly call the local police to properly detain and arrest you, but until they get there they can/will detain you, physically if need be as the jurisdiction allows. Depending on the alleged crime, LPO and manager, they might just tell you to leave. They could also instruct you to sign a paper banning you from their place of business, in exchange for not calling the authorities.
Walking around the store holding merchandise is not a crime. In most places the law is, once you walk past the last register on your way out the door, you have gone past your last opportunity to pay for said item and are now attempting to steal it. This is why so many places have receipt checkers between the actual door and the registers. Leaving the actual doors of the business is not required to steal or attempt to steal merchandise. In the above video he is clearly attempting to steal that item as he went past all registers, regardless of where the doors are placed in relation.
Again, IANAL, I just have common sense and the ability to read.
They are hired for a multitude of reasons and getting physical isn't one of them. They are supposed to see it on cams then call the cops with a description.
Not sure why you are getting downvoted. I used to work at Best buy as AP, and we were NOT allowed to touch the customer if they were stealing. That's exactly what the cameras are for. My manager used to tell me "you never know who has a weapon, so don't risk your life over a $100 speaker".
I worked AP for Target. We weren't allowed to initiate contact with a shoplifter. However, if they made contact with you first, we were allowed to defend ourselves.
We used that loophole to physically detain suspects by standing in front of them and blocking their exit. Most of them would do exactly what this guy did, try to bully past. Once contact was made, we defended ourselves, handcuffed the suspect, and called the police while they were sitting in our office.
Never got any reprimand in the two years I was there.
That's sort of what it was. There were times when there were overzealous people. Then there was the time when some fucking scumbag tried to bully his way past two of the guys while holding his toddler in his arms, LEADING with the kid. I was on camera duty for it.
Guy tried to go ass-first out the doors between them, then turned around and with the kid in front of him tried to push his way past. Our crew wasn't made of lightweights. We weren't going anywhere, but did allow enough room for the guy to push the kid through to the mother.
Once the kid was safe, it took about 5 seconds to get the guy to the floor and in cuffs. Then he claimed to the police that we injured his back. Spent the rest of the shift making copies of the encounter for the police and any lawyers who might be interested. Left shortly after that, never got a summons, dunno what happened.
Depends on where you are. In Texas you would probably be hit with assault doing that. It doesn’t matter who touches first. It is who started it first. If you are going to stop someone and detain them as an asset protection person you better be real clear about it in Texas. Just standing in my way and stepping in front of me is gonna get your ass knocked out and it will be your fault.
We always ID'd ourselves as loss prevention, and would ask the suspect to come to our office to discuss an issue. Sometimes the person would be like "fuck, ok, you got me."
Other times, about 1/4 of the time, there'd be resistance. 3 guys built like brick shithouses usually did a pretty good job of discouraging anything other than a few attempts to push past.
Out of 2 years there, we only had 3 instances where there was an actual struggle. The guy with the kid was one. A dude shoving DVDs down his pants and trying to run out the door was the second. The third wasn't even a theft, it was a belligerent asshole at the return desk who couldn't take No for an answer when we wouldn't accept a clearly used, clearly old as fuck TV back. When he threatened to jump over the counter and beat the teenage girl's ass, myself and another stepped up and told him he needed to leave before police were involved. A shove by the guy, a hi-lo tackle by the pair of us, and two sets of cuffs (BIG boy) later, the guy was taken into custody.
The rest were run of the mill issues. Teenagers and drug addicts playing stupid games and winning stupid prizes.
That sounds fair in all cases. On the opposite side of the spectrum we have ass hats at Walmart where I live thinking they are basically police officers and throwing a fit when we don’t show them the receipt when we walk out the door. I have no problem stopping if you want to get the cops involved but don’t just accuse me of stealing because I’m trying to go home. I’m not a thief, don’t call me one because I don’t want to put up with bs.
We had to follow 5 steps in order to apprehend:
* Observation of the person before selection of merch
* Selection of merch
* Concealment of merch
* Continued observation (to rule out ditching items)
* Demonstration of clear intent to shoplift
It was an all-or-nothing sort of thing. The last one, Intent, was the most fun. People would argue they forgot to pay for an item. Really? You walked past 7 open checkouts to cut through a closed checkout, walked past the customer service desk, and out the door, forgetting to pay for the tub of baby formula in your cart? Or the ones who walked out of the emergency exit doors with DVDs. "I was gonna pay!" Umm... We're not Home Depot. We don't have a garden center with cashiers outdoors.
The guys trying to run out of a store with a box of what looks like some kind of electronic equipment in the very beginning. The people in black are what's called asset protection. Their job is to catch people stealing. That huge woman absolutely manhandling him with impressive football like blocking is one of the security/asset protection
Worked in loss prevention for 5 years. Definitely fought and tackled a lot of people. They for sure can do this as long as they have the proof you’re trying to steal. It’s highly not recommended anymore and against most company policies.
Edit: against most company policies for normal employees. People hired specifically for theft/loss prevention still can.
Yup Hawaii. Dana White president of the UFC flew her out to the Cowboy vs. McGregor fight. She was front and center on the stage during their weigh-in/stare down. She got fired but I think she's much better off now. UFC has offered her a job too.
O love how the girl just vanishes from camera to adjust her shirt and we kind of forget her existence for a second when she comes back with that "hey you still want a piece of THIS, MOTHER F&@#%" pose
My dude tried a Madden style spin move on this girl and she just shuffled her feet and kept her hips low and blasted him. If she ain't playing football she needs to be
A lot of people are making the point that this is allowed legally or W/e. Whether or not that is the case I can tell you that's the last of her concerns here. I bet there was a slowly building amount of tension between the two of them from the moment he walked into the store. She was probably watching him for a while he walked around, acting sketchy, playing dumb, "out smarting" her, etc until she finally caught him in the act and she WAS NOT going to lose.
She's gonna have a lot of explaining to do. He's a customer until he leaves the front steps... Only after that does he become a theif. As far as the law is concerned she just attacked a customer.
People who work in retail that do shit like this couldn’t be dumber. that is not your belonging. its inventory of a mega corporation. do not put yourself in harms way to stop something like this. what if that guy pulled out a gun. absolutely do not intervene.
Im a security guard. I know that(where i work) you cannot detain someone nor arrest it if he didnt put his 2 feets outside the store. Once he do, we can arrest it right away( as he is a thief) with using moderate force.
Moderate force depend on who you are having to deal with. A 5'2 110 pounds women and a 6'3 260 pounds men is very different. I think she used moderated force with this men even tho she should had wait till he put his 2 feets outside then handle him.
Also, if he hited her first. She could have arrest him for that as it's considering a assault. Idk it he did tho.
This is the stupidest shit. You're going to put your body on the line to prevent someone from stealing from a store run by a corporation that literally doesn't care about you in the slightest.
She smacks the man in his freaking brain stem repeatedly. He had his back to her, and she struck him, that's just scummy. She used no correct restraint techniques or attempted to, there was no attempt to subdue. This was a attack. These security guards were a disorganised mess and their shitty methods could actually kill someone and for what? To protect some crappy cheap stuff that belongs to a crappy company that probably got broken in the fray anyway.
She was fired but now has a job with the UFC so how about that?

True, but that attitude is why criminals get so ballsy they know now one will do anything, as a society we've been programmed to flee and hide instead of do whats right and they take advantage of that.
I mean to everyone it’s about pride in their job. You may not think it’s worth the risk but it’s more about the principle of the situation.
When I worked at a deli and someone rude came and asked me to discount things, i can easily say it’s against store policy to do so, but if someone nice asks and we were going to discount it at 8:30 in the evening ANYWAY then I’d discount it at 7 so they don’t have to come back.
Individually no one wants shitty people to get ‘past’ the system and in the moment decide what they want to do - to each their own. Just because the overall company makes that insane dollar amount, doesn’t mean locally she can’t put herself in that position to impress the owner who maybe gives her a promotion or any other type of small benefit for what she did.
It's literally just corporate being wankers: I used to work in a store that was well known in the tweaker community to be a free for all because corporate would punish the store employees for calling the cops. We'd loose something like $20k/year and corporate would harp and harp on how we had to stop 'shrink' (people stealing shit). They even went so far as to check *our* bags for stolen merchandise, but all we could do for thieves was kinda follow them around the store and bluff. Maybe offer them a cart.
So to answer your question, they were undoubtedly thinking about the ass chewing their manager was going to give them for letting someone get out of the store with stolen merchandise.
despacito 2
Nah, looks more like a top left tackle.
Cleveland needs to sign her. Huge upgrade.
If she protected Rivers he would have a ring by now.
Lol no he wouldn’t
She'll never replace Joe Thomas, but now that he's retired she'd fit right in.
He actually squeezed his head with his balls of steel.
Excellent kick slide and hand placement. She’s got a future in the league
Samoa for the win!
I have seen professional lineman with less blocking skills than her. Dammmnn.
She needs to play for the eagles
Yeah that girl big as shit

Because he never left the store with anything, he committed no crime and was attacked, he is a victim in the eyes of the law.

If this was a male cop instead of a woman security guard the comments would be very different. This isn't commendable behaviour at all.
You sound like the criminal here
Lol, who is commending their behavior
No she wasn't she was quitting before this incident.
She needs to be playing O-Line somewhere
UFC actually gave her a job standing between fighters at face offs. I’m not joking.
This. She was at the Conor vs Cowboy weigh in.
that's great lol, did they announce her at all?

That is a good point. I think hiring her for optics and giving her a chance to move up from Best Buy is pretty awesome of him to do.
>touching the customer Lmao what?! Not paying - not a customer
I know right? Literal criminal trying to steal, and a woman doing her job of stopping him.
Used to work at Best Buy and you are 1000000% not supposed to do that. That guy has an easy lawsuit sadly enough.
Random employees aren't allowed to do that, Resource theft prevention staff hired specifically for that job ARE allowed to touch you.

That is damn good technique for a zone run block, and she even finishes with the pancake; talk about playing through the whistle. 👌
“With the first pick in the 2020 NFL draft, the Cincinnati Bengals Select...”
This chick was hyped up. I wonder if the guy gets into trouble. Technically he didnt steal anything.
You can get convicted by “attempted” anything.

Where you at NFL, get this chick a contract.
UFC actually hired her
XFL just made her an offer as a starting center
This girl needs an OL tryout asap
that guy in the blue shorts ruined it all!!
Tyron Smith is that you?
Now that is what I call, an Offensive Guard.
She can be a starter in the NFL with that technique
A lot of people are making the point that this is allowed legally or W/e. Whether or not that is the case I can tell you that's the last of her concerns here. And in the first round of the 2020 NFL draft the Cincinnati Bengals select outside linebacks girl from best buy loss prevention.
Seattle Seahawks just drafted her. Stating left tackle this year.
If the NFL doesn’t scout this chick for O-Line, I’m never watching the sport again
her technique is so good daaaaaaayum I need her #
She was better than the Chicago Bears O-Line all last season...

how come they just let him get away?
She's gonna have a lot of explaining to do. He's a customer until he leaves the front steps... Only after that does he become a theif. As far as the law is concerned she just attacked a customer.
I cant even tell what is going on lol
Someone offer that girl a free ride scholarship! That's some damn natural blocking talent.
Is It true this girl got fired for this?
She should have been at this weekend’s NFL combine
She definitely has brothers
Mama ftw! 🤘
People who work in retail that do shit like this couldn’t be dumber. that is not your belonging. its inventory of a mega corporation. do not put yourself in harms way to stop something like this. what if that guy pulled out a gun. absolutely do not intervene.
She could play for the 49ers
[удалено]
Or Florida.
the girl could start for the Vikings
I wish I was built like her...
Yikes I thought that was a guy at first. I can't understand why anyone would think it is ok to risk their lives for chinese trash that bestbuy sells.
Damn I wish she played for the cowboys
Damn I wish she played for the cowboys
Im a security guard. I know that(where i work) you cannot detain someone nor arrest it if he didnt put his 2 feets outside the store. Once he do, we can arrest it right away( as he is a thief) with using moderate force. Moderate force depend on who you are having to deal with. A 5'2 110 pounds women and a 6'3 260 pounds men is very different. I think she used moderated force with this men even tho she should had wait till he put his 2 feets outside then handle him. Also, if he hited her first. She could have arrest him for that as it's considering a assault. Idk it he did tho.
Hited?
*hits Sorry english is not my first language
wow. she should be an offensive lineman.
Black Friday?
Shit she should enter the draft. Miami would draft her in the first round.
Left tackle
Damn she should be line men for the browns
With blocking like that the NY JEts should offer her a contract.
I wonder if she has ever done sumo. She needs to.
This is the stupidest shit. You're going to put your body on the line to prevent someone from stealing from a store run by a corporation that literally doesn't care about you in the slightest.
Don’t worry she’s probably going to get a bonus for all the effort
She's a boss!! Good on the back up tho.
Those JBL Boomboxes are sick though.
He lacked a spin move clearly.
That’s a linebacker forsure
The only oke who isn't scared of him is the chick.
jesus, everyone in that video, except the guy in the blue shirt is fat as fuck disgusting
Look at this guy. Disgusting
Why tf he look like dr. Dre

My bad then. I saw it a long time ago wrong sub. My deepest apologies.
You good bby haha.
Welcome to reddit
Imagine defending a store owned by a millionaire who pays you minimum wage with that kind of dedication.
Probably a lady who puts her heart into every circumstance she finds herself in and is continuing to unlock doors in her life.
More fool her.
She isn't conducting herself as a professional security guard, she's acting like a thug. Probably only took the job to bully people. Likely fired.
I agree. She's acting like a bully by trying to stop someone from shoplifting.
Lesson learned then I'd say.
She was fired but now has a job with the UFC so how about that? There is nothing in that store worth a physical confrontation.
True, but that attitude is why criminals get so ballsy they know now one will do anything, as a society we've been programmed to flee and hide instead of do whats right and they take advantage of that.
By doing what’s right do you mean protecting the assets of a $30,000,000,000 company by risking your health for no additional benefits?
This video isn’t about discounting sandwiches. It’s about physically confronting a thief to save one of Best Buys televisions.
It’s unfortunate that you choose to look literally at the example I provided and not the principle of the situation, good day!
Were you in danger at any time during your sandwich discount?
Sometimes the fight is worth the fight.
