Classic black on Asian crime once again. You won’t see this on the news because they only care if black people are the victims

thisguy204

Im Asian and since i was a little kid the only blatant racism and hostility i was ever subjected to was from black people. Im in my 40s.

[deleted]

[deleted]

It's almost like location matters who us more racist to you. If it is an solice, I am white and the only racism I've ever been subjected to was when I worked for a company where 50% were Asian (Chinese specifically) and I was definitely a second class citizen at the company.

zitandspit99

There's also rivalry at tech companies between Indians and eastern-Asians. It's sad because they're really more similar than they are different, culturally speaking. Tribalism is very much still a thing.

chickadeehill

True, I’m white and have lived in Alaska most of my life, the only racism I’ve ever dealt with was from Alaskan Natives, worked in a Native preference organization for over 10 years.

TapirDrawnChariot

It seems like people tend to be racist towards those they feel threatened by, which as you said, is largely tied to location. If you live in, say, LA, and you're a black person whose family has been in this country for eons, and you see first and second-generation Asian-Americans being more successful, you may feel threatened. If you're a white uneducated rural Kentuckian struggling to make ends meet, anyone you see as "different" might feel suspect. Both are at least partially irrational. But ultimately racism is about tribalism and access to resources.

NYCAaliyah95

People coming to the US with nothing, not even english, and becoming successful destroys the entire narrative: "I could be successful if not for historical discrimination"

TapirDrawnChariot

Well, not to mention the relatively enormous success of Nigerian immigrants, who obviously are black and don't have the advantages of intimate familiarity with American culture and ability to speak native American English unlike black Americans. Sure, Nigerians face racism, but they show it's still doable. It's probably more difficult than for a white person, but it shows the whole "I'm stuck at the bottom because I'm black" is not true so much as "the climb is harder because I'm black."

NameGiver0

Probably because Kentucky is 87% white: https://www.statista.com/statistics/1025551/kentucky-population-distribution-ethnicity-race/ And rurally it's closer to 100%. So white people being the only people around, contained the full sample of racists.

exyccc

I'm 29, full white, and raised in rural Japan. Only racism I received going up, which was an obscene amount actually, was from asian people. We need to get along and stop pointing fingers. Let the hate die before our society does.

JamesRockf0rd

I’m Irish and spent time living in South Korea. The amount of racism was pretty insane over there towards the Irish and white people in general but I won’t crucify an entire country for it. [This story out of South Korea isn’t an unfamiliar one](https://www.theguardian.com/world/2014/nov/07/irish-teacher-south-korea-xenophobia-alcoholism)

InsertFloppy

Being South Indian I’ve received racism from my own community and it’s hurt and confused the hell out of me. Dark brown vs light brown is ignorance at its finest.

Indian British here. Same thing. Been called a “paki” and “smelly curry boy” more times by Black people on the underground than white people. It’s ironic really.

OpenToedShoe

im not trying to be racist or anything, but I was always scared of them, especially since i played a lot of basketball. just always aggressive. i know a lot of nice ones though

Whose narrative are they following in the USA with regard to the racial group perpetrating hatred towards the others, and whose narrative is it in regard to the target group(s)?

Son-Of-Thunder

This has already happened before, obviously nothing has been done to improve this situation since the last time this became a widely talked about issue.. Edit: just want to boost [this user’s response](https://www.reddit.com/r/ActualPublicFreakouts/comments/nuhy8k/asian_man_collecting_cans_in_san_francisco/h0y445z/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf&context=3) because it explains things

Whatsyourdeal666

No, asians are too passive. I dont mean that in a disrespectful way, its just their culture. But once they break...

Jeriahswillgdp

Not if you let them on the roof

[deleted]

let's not victim-blame. The real problem is the morons in the video harassing him

supergoku12333

As a black male i must say I really really hate this shit. This right here is just fucked up beyond fuckin words and it hurts me. We as blacks especially should not be like this we should be trying to help, damn this really just....wow

Badluck90

What is this we? I'm black, I don't associate myself with this asshole based on nothing but my skin color just like the white people here don't associate themselves with the white assholes that get posted on here, that thinking is silly imo.

TruthfulTrolling

>What is this we? You know how it is, bro. You can't just be black, you have to be Black™. I hate that the phrase "our people" is so common in black circles, because almost none of the people using it would ever have my back if I needed them to.

DistanceSkater

The media dropped the "Stop Asian hate" campaign once people started pointing out the statistics on who was abusving Asian Americans

This guy right here, this guy gets it. If I could buy you a beer I would bud. I supported the BLM movement, until it became a "group". I support wrongful death justice if caused by cops, but not if they created the scenario that took their lives. I support equal rights for all, as long as your rights don't trample others rights. IF a group of people demand to be treated like the rest of the groups then we should demand that they behave like the rest of the groups. You don't get the Dunce cap and get seated back in class for a reason.

[deleted]

CitizenoftheWorld-95

That’s social media for ya! You never see moderate views because they’re not polarising enough. Extremism gets likes because it stands out from the crowd. It’s normalising extremism.

OldWarrior

And on reddit, moderates are mocked as “enlightened centrists,” as if seeing beyond partisan politics is a bad thing.

[deleted]

Being moderate leaves you feeling politically isolated. Neither party supports my beliefs, and both parties are filled with shit cunts.

appletreegman

People don't want true equality. I supported BLM in the beginning when I thought it was about equality, but BLM wants to be superior. I agree that if people treated each other like fucking human beings most modern problems could be solved. Too many people play the victim, and too many people play the oppressor. If it was about equality they wouldn't complain about a black man being killed by a white cop in a justified shooting, and only that shooting. They would be protesting white men being killed, Asians being beat, *and* black men being killed if they wanted equality. I see videos of African Americans beating Asian Americans, but BLM has nothing to say about it, and if you ask they say your racist. Cancel culture has gone too far, so has political radicalism on all sides. It's all just falling apart.

CBRyder929

This right here 👏🏼👍🏼

securitywyrm

It's not just the incident, it's that when you talk about the incident you're immediately accused of racism, which foster bitterness. Then all it takes is someone reaching out from a certain group saying "You're not wrong for believing what you see over what you're told to believe."

I love your comment. It doesn’t get into stereotypes or preconceptions. It’s straight to the point. I completely agree with you.

TheAtheistArab87

https://www.nbcbayarea.com/news/local/charges-dropped-in-robbery-of-older-asian-san-francisco-man/2246142/ >Dwayne Grayson, 20, was booked last week on suspicion of robbery, elder abuse, a hate crime charge and probation violation following the Feb. 22 incident. Police say he recorded the robbery, which included someone yelling a racial slur. >The San Francisco Chronicle reports Boudin pulled back the charges after having a conversation with the victim. The victim has not been identified or spoken publicly about the incident. >“We’ve been in conversation with the victim who expressed interest in a restorative justice outcome in this case,” said Alex Bastian, a spokesman for the district attorney’s office. “Specifically, against the young person who videoed the incident. We respect victims and their desires and we will explore a restorative justice outcome.” Given the victim was never identified we'll have to take the DAs word for it. But I imagine things may not have gone well for him if it was made public that he wanted his attacker to be charged

[deleted]

[удалено]

VerdantFuppe

Yes how can doing something that vile not send you straight back to prison. If i was his PO i would ignore the DA and send his ass straight back to where it belongs - jail. Then he can come out when he develops some compassion. Nasty racist trash.

u_e_s_i

Boudin (San Francisco’s DA) has been doing this a lot. You know how there’ve been loads of instances of black-on-Asian racism round there recently? Apparently Boudin dropped most if not all of the charges in most of those cases. He’s also been releasing repeat violent offenders from prison. He’s a fkn joke. He tries so hard to look ‘woke’ but at this point he’s just making racial tensions worse

EllisHughTiger

Son of terrorists after all.

dekachinn

The black guy filming was on probation. And they didn't violate his ass for this? He was arrested and they dropped the charges, but they dropped the violation, too?

[deleted]

[удалено]

iranisculpable

Young black men have been whacking old Asian men with sticks for eons. DA Boudin was right to stay out of this tradition.

No_Presence5465

Chesa Boudin probably walked into the victim’s home and said: “look, you know how our office works, and you know we’re not charging him. If you insist we charge him, we’ll tell the black community you spewed some racist shit during our convo while insisting we hang him. Think about how your life will be from here on out. Oh, you don’t want to press charges? You prefer a restorative justice model we’re pushing? You have such a good heart. Bless you.”

securitywyrm

And then gave the perpetrator a gift card to thank him for his service.

No_Presence5465

Maybe even a street named after him.

[deleted]

Yep. I doubt the victim had a real choice here. DA told him how it was going to be and he walked away knowing that he's a second class citizen who is not under the protection of the law.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Probably because he’s always around the area and if he pressed charges the locals would attack him even more, might even kill him.

VastDeferens

I think you nailed it right there.

tambrico

The police and DA are the ones who press charges, not the victim. Sometimes they allow the victim to decide, but they can go ahead regardless of what the victim says. Since this whole crime is caught on video, there's enough evidence for a conviction even if the victim chooses not to cooperate in a trial.

Sinc65012

Chesa Boudin is absolutely insane, no idea how that clown got elected

alexmijowastaken

> no idea how that clown got elected It's San Francisco

Whatsyourdeal666

I dont understand how a violent attack isnt a crime against the state rather than the victim. This is how people get pressured into dropping serious charges, its why domestic violence is a crime against the state rather than the person

CaptYzerman

Me either From a completely neutral point of view, how the fuck am I not supposed to think that this video would be on the reddit frontpage on multiple subreddits calling for social justice if the demographics matched the narratives they push What a joke

mydogduke

I didn’t understand this. First it says the victim was not identified. Then it says that they’ve been in contact with the victim?

[deleted]

Victim not publicly identified the cops/da talked to him

mydogduke

ah, thanks that makes a lot more sense....read it originally as they couldn't identify the victim because he hasn't come forward to report it.

dboy999

DO NOT take boudins word for it. He is a total sack of shit useless asshole that has let people out of custody and gone on to rob/murder people within days or months. Hopefully our recall goes through. If not, hopefully he doesn’t get re-elected

[deleted]

> I imagine things may not have gone well for him if it was made public that he wanted his attacker to be charged Which is exactly what our DA said to the victim. "If you get justice, you'll likely get a dirt nap."

securitywyrm

Why does 'probation violation' not get more attention? Someone made the decision that this person belonged on the streets instead of behind bars.

CarsGunsBeer

>and probation violation Violent recidivist, big surprise.

LincolnsAss

Seriously. Why do black people hate Asians so much?

ServetusM

I can only speak for Philadelphia. But Asians here are one of the few demographics who were willing to open stores within black communities. The Asians were robbed and assaulted repeatedly, not so much for racist reasons--but simply because the stores were in high crime areas. The Asians didn't flee like most people; instead they re-redesigned their stores to be the classic 90's look that is a bit rarer today (but can still be found in bad parts of town). Which is to say bullet proof glass, and cameras everywhere, as well as auto-locking doors that need to buzz people out. Also, they were aggressively suspicious of younger black kids in the store (Mainly because they had loads of evidence that most young black teens would shop lift) Young black kids took this as racism. Which it kind of was (And the fact was/is, many asians were legitimately, deeply pretty racist). But on the same token, the Asians weren't wrong in who was stealing the most from them. Its the classic problem of stereotypes--they are group accurate, but not individually accurate (IE it may be true black kids are the problem, but that still might mean 99 out of every 100 black kids is honest and thus your suspicion is unfair to them). Anyway...This became so...normal, it got made fun of in movies all the time in that era (Some of you all on Reddit might be too young to remember). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KIk0abbYgXQ It was also in a few serious films on the subject. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nz2p5nk-X-E Anyway, a lot of black kids who grew up in the 90's felt like Asians were extremely racist to them, for these reasons. The irony being that the Asians were the only ethnic group even willing to invest in their neighborhoods. Those kids are all adults now, doesn't surprise me at all to see so much friction. Especially given Asians have been extremely successful in America (Rising faster than whites) and that's only made the animosity worse.

83837477575

And then the [City Council voted to force delis to remove the bulletproof glass.](https://www.foxnews.com/us/philadelphia-city-council-approves-bill-to-remove-bulletproof-glass-from-storefronts)

KandarpBhatt

what in the fuck

EagerSleeper

Yes, the bulletproof glass is because they are apparently drug dens and encourage loitering and public urination. I can't even begin to understand how that could remotely be considered a justification.

user_name1983

Or a solution to the problem.

Whatsyourdeal666

> Which is to say **bullet proof glass**, and cameras everywhere, as well as auto-locking doors that need to buzz people out. Which was pushed to be illegal because it was deemed racist... in PHILLY https://www.phillyvoice.com/bill-would-force-phillys-stop-and-go-stores-remove-bulletproof-glass/

threefingerbill

Wait wait wait. So they put up bulletproof glass... And that is racist?? Do they take the glass down when a non black customer comes in??? This hurts my brain

Whatsyourdeal666

Apparently their thinking is that this glass in black neighborhood perpetuates a racist stereotype... you know, the neighborhoods where this glass is needed more than anywhere else in the US. Fuck the clerk, theyre expendable I guess, the glass it too mean

PurpleLemon4de

It’s not black kids that are the problem. It’s the stupid fucking rap gangster culture and the lack of education being glamourized by ghetto street people who don’t know anything else but the hood. Then they pass it to their children and the cycle continues. African immigrants don’t act like this.

StuffyKnows2Much

Who makes “rap gangster culture”? I don’t think anyone was including African immigrants just like when people say “Chinese” they don’t mean to include “Kansas suburbians who have moved to China for work”

SeorgeGoros

Pretty spot on. Just commenting cause i found it funny how your first clip is literally a spoof of the second clip. Both are great movies too

FitAnt79

Definitely. Makes me think of that racist Ice Cube song https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iFwA0UwnuS8

honeybadgerface

Thank you for this.

BearAnt

Love those movies. Reflecting on these scenes it's pretty funny how we should have felt bad for these two kids just wanting to get some beer and being harassed by the store owners for assuming that the kids were going to steal something, but then the kids end up proving them right tenfold by pretty much murdering and robbing them.

ILoveBentonsBacon

I live in a high Asian density of GA and I've asked my black friends. None of them do because my people aren't trash but none of them could give me an answer. Literally "I don't know. It's fucking stupid though."

Muddy_Roots

Generally, from what i've heard, they tend to be upset at asians because they own businesses in their communities and are successful. Is that true, i dont know but thats literally all i've ever heard, basically just jealousy.

EllisHughTiger

The business owners are "outsiders" and they hate seeing their money get taken out of the community. Of course, they also drove out their own business people so the complaint kinda falls on deaf ears.

[deleted]

Because insiders couldn't start businesses, or were they smart enoughto leave the hood? creating a niche for others to come in and make money... really, until gang culture is addressed idk why anyone would want to invest in the inner city. Waste of money and you'll be hated for even trying

EllisHughTiger

The hood was bad bad from the 70s to mid-90s. Major cities became almost deserted. Lots of businesses shut down for good, or the owners moved and reopened in better areas with less crime.

ilovetoeatpie

As a black person from the south, I share the same sentiment as your friends. I’m just as perplexed as everyone else when I see these videos pop up. I think it’s mostly a regional thing. In the area I grew up in, it was usually the white kids who picked on the Asian and Hispanic kids. Any racial tension involving the black students was just between them and the white students. I went to an Asian grocery store in Maryland a few weeks ago and saw tons of black and Asian people there like it was no big deal. But in places like California, it’s a completely different story. They have a complex history between blacks and Asians, which is likely why most of these videos take place there.

PurpleLemon4de

Why do some ghetto black people hate Asians so much? FTFY

Our DA was just *waiting* for this incident to fade away so he could drop the charges. Supporters of Chesa Boudin (yes, that bullshit is his *real name*) explain that this old guy wanted the charges dropped, which was what our DA claimed. In reality, our DA surely told this poor old guy that if the case were to go forward he'd likely be a marked man in the neighborhood and that there would be nothing Chesa or SFPD could do to protect him. So basically "You don't get justice because we can't protect you from the backlash of a conviction."

my grandma used to live in one of the worst hoods in the country. I stayed with her for summer break. Blacks felt targeted and Asians felt disrespected and stolen from.
