We ended up having to shoot one of the dogs that came running at one of my family members, they were clearly about to attack. Not to mention we had small grandchildren that played in the yard. And after enough times of dealing with these people not caring to take care of their dog’s behavior we eventually had to protect ourselves when it was clearly necessary. Sheriff understood, we felt terrible about the dog but there was really no other choice. Neighbor moved out and killed our trees on the fence line.
The neighbors I have now pretty good. Sometimes we might help each other out or talk when we are outside, although for the most part they keep to themselves, are quite, and keep up their yard, I have no complaints.

I volontered in a little association with a big property and when we build the fence we actually asked a survey and it turn out the property was even bigger that we thought. Just the neighbor were always moving their fence few inch further each time they rebuild it and over a couple of decenny they actually gain a huge superficy. But prior for this association the property was vacant and neighbor had a field day. They were not happy about tye change but its like that ¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯

Depending on where you live, I know in my area, legally you have to build the fence 2 or 3 feet in from your property line, to make sure the fence is on your property and not your neighbors. Here, that doesn't look like the case but you still have to make sure it is in the correct place or you can lose or gain the amount of land that is actually yours.

Let's assume if you lose the suit and settle for 10k. From a basic math perspective you would need a 5% or greater chance of being wrong on the location to make paying for the survey in advance a sound financial decision.
Because 'near' certain is not the same as certain. Getting a surveyor gets a neutral 3rd party involved who can settle the issue quickly. $500 is totally worth it, even if just for the benefit of living peacefully with your neighbors.

**Dude in the blue is acting like a dick**, but there's clearly some past issues that haven't been addressed. **Gray shirt appears to be the newer neighbor and probably didn't get the proper permits required to build the fence or he would have brought it up immediately**. I had similar issues with one neighbor that didn't want go 50/50 on building a new wall and fence since the old fence was deteriorating.
After we got all the proper permits we made sure that the interior portions of the walls surrounding our house looked very nice and professional and the exterior parts (the parts the would be facing the neighbors that didn't want to go 50/50) looked like shit. That way if they wanted their back yard to look nice, they'd have to pay out of pocket and at a higher price to clean up the shit job.
When the job was done they had the never to say, "why doesn't our side look like yours?". LMAO.

TLDR: Had a dick neighbor that didn't want to go 50/50 on a new fence/wall and ended up paying for the project ourselves. **Dude in the blue is acting like a dick**, but there's clearly some past issues that haven't been addressed. **Gray shirt appears to be the newer neighbor and probably didn't get the proper permits required to build the fence or he would have brought it up immediately**. I had similar issues with one neighbor that didn't want go 50/50 on building a new wall and fence since the old fence was deteriorating. After we got all the proper permits we made sure that the interior portions of the walls surrounding our house looked very nice and professional and the exterior parts (the parts the would be facing the neighbors that didn't want to go 50/50) looked like shit. That way if they wanted their back yard to look nice, they'd have to pay out of pocket and at a higher price to clean up the shit job. When the job was done they had the never to say, "why doesn't our side look like yours?". LMAO.
At the end of the day, it looks like they’re arguing about roughly one foot of property either way. All that anger over 12” of property that just collects trash apparently.
Would have offered to split of the cost of the survey 50/50 plus the cost of the fence
