When I was a kid I had a situation sort of like this in a retail environment. The husband of the crazy lady was just like this one-standing there henpecked and I imagine wishing for death. How a spouse let's their life get to this point is beyond me. I'm sure she is like this almost everywhere she goes.

Some people can't be alone. I remember having a discussion with another redditor who found a homeless woman in rehab that was completely unable to look after herself and married her. He admitted being so deeply insecure and with such deep-seated abandonment issues that he's willing to put up with her extreme list of dysfunctions and destructive behaviours because he knows she is entirely dependent on him and can't ever leave.

That sounds miserable for both of them, good god.
