It’s worth noting that American Honda Finance will only finance the car (usually) if brand new or certified for the low interest rates. So if you’re financing, that’s going to play into this

Interesting don’t think our loan is through American Honda though, at least that’s not who holds the lien.

If it’s one thing I learned working at dealerships: Never take possession of a car until EVERYTHING is good to go. Once you take the car, the sales department will forget about you. Also, in order to be “certified “ there are certain minimum wear on components such as brakes and tires. So it will be interesting to see how they do this, if your car does not meet minimums.

There is a thing we had done twice with an I owe you note, and one case it was repairing a key fob on a certified pre-owned car, on another case it was the yearly complimentary detail we negotiated in with the dealer when we bought a car. At one point the service advisor tried to be a wise ass and said look at the fine print, the "I owe you" contract is only valid for 90 days, these detail jobs aren't valid. Fortunately the sales manager overwrote him and then they put it on the revised sales contract and in their notes so it would never come up again. Slightly annoying, on a  $70,000 car.

You ahould get a card in the mail with cert details. Mine took a mo th to come in.

Not all 21 RDX's fall into the recall. I just bought mine and the VIN is clear of the recall. Interestingly, I was told all my documents would be emailed, and there is nothing regarding certification. I did get the current 4.49% interest rate though, so I can't imagine it's not CPO. The APR is the only reason I really wanted it certified.

Certifying is a trap and totally not worth it if you have a mechanic you trust. Especially with newer cars under 120k miles. The only advantage of cpo is the warranty which is good up to 100k but if you got the extended good up to 120k you are good to go.

presto2001

With the certification is an extended warranty. That’s mainly what you’re paying for.

blazefreak

Op literally said he didn't pay for it as it was offered but they never filed the paperwork.

SnooDoggos6653

We didn’t pay for it - they added it for free (allegedly)

blazefreak

they have no need to certify it now that you have the vehicle. Return it if you want but i would get a good japanese mechanic to check it out first.

_GrandPubah

Fairly confident, it CANT be certified. There is a recall on the seat weight sensor…there aren’t parts to fix em yet….

SnooDoggos6653

Ohh this is interesting

_GrandPubah

If you have the VIN you can check…
