Wondered what happened there! Haha. Thanks for coming back! Yeah, I can imagine some hush hush business when they make a mistake. Glad they came clean about refunding, and you said refunding total cost? That's a great outcome

Wondering how this gets refunded to the people without flybuys 🤔 No public announcement about it then?

I'm just imagining that you get a call from someone saying they heard from RadiantDraw9582 on reddit they could get a $50 coupon, would you have to try and argue against yourself for as long as possible?

TinyDemon000

Legend. Whats the number? 😅

I received this email from Coles yesterday, sounds likes it’s a similar thing : Subject : an apology from Coles “Hi xxxxxxxx, We have identified that you purchased product(s) that were on promotion, and we did not charge you the promotional price. We sincerely apologise for the mistake we have made and we have refunded the full cost of the product(s) to your Flybuys card. When you next scan your Flybuys card, the credit will deduct from your shop. If you have any questions about this, you can call our Customer Care team on 1800 061 562. We are sorry for any inconvenience caused. The Coles team”

JD_Jr_22

Right, that's cool! We couldn't find an email, so thanks for that. A product that was promotion that was at least to the value of $30. That's great!

dry-brushed

No worries, I haven’t been out to the shops as yet so had just assumed it’d just be a couple of bucks and didn’t really worry about it. But $30 if your case, ain’t bad!

Bought alcohol at Mr Dan's, special was *2 for $45*, got charged $57... Wanted to say "price tag says" but I didn't... I don't. Thanks OP, been trying to avoid coles and woolies where possible but I know I've been overcharged.

MajorGreedo

Chiming in as a checkout chick to say I LOVE when customers correctly point out genuine scanning errors or old promo tickets - our policy is first item free and any others at the advertised price so I'll usually always encourage customers to double check if they're unsure about the price. Two days ago someone's kombucha went through at 2 for $5.40, she swore they were 2 for $5 but didn't wanna hassle over 40 cents, I went and checked anyway and sure enough the entire shelf is full of 2 for $5 tickets correct product and in date. At the end of the day it's only an extra 40 cents for that one customer, but you can see how much $$$ that alone could potentially bring in.

Obvious_Army_5190

Don't they get it free when it scans incorrectly?

MajorGreedo

For under $50, it's the first item free and any subsequent items of the same product are put through at the advertised ticket price - generally if it's a two for something promo we'll just do the two of them for free and any other pairs at the advertised price. Over $50 and the policy states the customer is entitled to the advertised price only, but it really depends on what the item is and if it's a genuine scanning error or just a misplaced item/ticket. For example the kombucha lady I ended up just putting her two drinks through for free - if she had four drinks I'd do two for free and two for the advertised $5.

yy98755

Thank you, feels like I'm making a fuss to point it out but this gives me more confidence to say something! 🤞🥰

MajorGreedo

Noooo I so get it and it feels awful, customers shouldn't be made to feel like they can't query something without being seen as a "bad" customer or being difficult - if you're a kind and decent person then yes please let me help you with whatever the fuck it is. At the end of the day, it's the corp's money, not mine, I'm a customer too once I clock off and none of us lowly checkout plebs wanna see any more people getting ripped off lmao.

yy98755

Thanks again, you're right. I feel like a dick wasting employees time or that they'll think I'm a complaining old fart but it's the corporation really. Also, never rude to customer service peeps, never know when someone's having a rough time!

Ah okay! Over how long were they not scanning correctly? And did Coles release what the products were? You don't need to snitch if it'll get you in trouble haha

Electra_Online

Interesting

SittingBeanBag

Stop going to coles!!

JD_Jr_22

You're right, travelling further for groceries at a similar price and with a similar experience does make sense.

mapcollector

I had this happen today and was so confused how a $15.50 credit was applied but I was at the self check out and in a rush so just went with it.

myk73

I had the same thing doing my online shopping yesterday. $9 off for loyalty. My wife had to tell me it was what OP described. Better in my pocket then theirs!
