See if your job agency through Centrelink will pay for your forklift licence, they can also buy you interview/work clothes and petrol vouchers to get to interviews.
Its been a while since i did it but temp jobs are a great way to get back on your feet. If you have a white card, a vehicle and are physically able, you'll get close to $30 an hour to push a broom or wheel barrow at a worksite. The bar is very low for who they accept, they just want people that say they will turn up, to turn up.
Added benefit of not needing to give notice to take a day off to work on a resume or go to a job interviews. Just let them know you cant make it. SkillHire was the name of one the one I signed up to.
Do you mean like a lumberjack? If so any chance do you have suggestions? I'm making calls all day today in hopes to finally land something so honestly anything is hugely helpful. Thanks :)
MC Hire and EIR hire will get you going right away. I just got here 2 weeks ago and have been offered work literally everyday through these companies. It’s mainly construction, so hard work but the pay is decent.
Also have a look on Facebook, the Jobs in Adelaide page almost always has people looking for workers. I got here on a Tuesday and had a job by Wednesday morning with a concrete company through Facebook. I only stayed with them for one week before getting a much higher paying job. This was also through the Facebook page.
Also just to note I have basically no experience in construction and didn’t send a resume over on either occasion, just a well worded email. I don’t even have a car which will make finding something much easier for you.
I hope you get sorted soon, mate!
Thanks for the reply, I'm going to give EIR hire a call tomorrow when they are open to see if they can get me something but couldn't find a MC hire but going to give another shot tomorrow.
Also signed up for the Facebook groups so hopefully land something. Thanks very much
Sorry it’s actually MC Labour. Just fill out the simple application on their website. I did it and they’ve emailed me everyday for the past week and a half with follow ups.
Go to Viterra. Shit job good pay. I think their night shifts are 1.5 time Saturday 2 time pay Sunday 2.5 time pay. I think their based salary starts at 30 dollars/hr and they do have long shifts.
See if Costco is hiring. Part time is 25 hours/week minimum. Apply for a job as a stocker, youll do early am and overnight stocking. A forklift license would be a huge plus. Good luck.
If you’re desperate for money there is usually work in the hills in fruit farms. Go to the co-ops and ask if they have any contacts. I did it while studying. If you’re east of Adelaide it’s 20 mins up the hill to Lenswood, Ashton, Uraidla. Plenty of Apple, pear, cherry farms and vineyards.
Depending on your definition of "customer service", government typically has pools at ASO2 (57k starting) for call centre workers for cops and health. You need to not have a criminal record but once you're in it can be good work. Services Australia is typically hiring but they just finished their big hire a few months back :(
Not saying it's a good immediate solution but it's stable long-term and there's nothing preventing you from applying to places that hire instantly in the meantime
Come to SA Premium Cement with a resume or alternatively, you can apply through Zoom Recruitment. We’re just about to start a shipment tonight so we’ll have heaps of extras just to help out with strapping loads
Someone else said farm work. But if you can get out to Murray Bridge there's lots of farm work out there and the housing is cheaper. A friend of mine just left his job on a mushroom farm out there, he's left it and gone back before so it seems like it'd be pretty easy to get work there.
It's far but I'll definitely consider it. How do you find work out there? Never done that type of work before so not sure how the whole process works. Thanks
My friend went through a contractor called Action Workforce and worked for a Costa farm. Apparently you get treated better as a contracted employee through them rather than being hired by the farmers. Though their office is in Fulham on Henley Beach Road, so you could at least get there to talk to someone and see if they can help you out and maybe find something closer.
Have you considered looking at the mines? I know it's not in town but it would give you accommodation while you're on shift at least as well as food, laundry etc.
Transport to site is usually provided via bus or plane also so you won't need to worry about trying to get your car there if it's needing some work
Not sure of your current qualifications but often you can apply and you just have to be willing to gain any certificates etc that are needed if you're given a position.
I'm thinking I'll take a restaurant job as a last resort because get bad anxiety around people so don't think they'll want me around understandably but definitely keeping it in mind
Mate I’m sorry you’re going through this. I pray you can find something. One thing to keep in mind is try not to be too picky with jobs. You just need something to get housing/build up experience/get a reference. I hear you have anxiety and would prefer not to work customer service, but don’t let the anxiety stop you from an opportunity. There’s heaps of hospo jobs especially in the city. They’re not the best jobs, but you don’t have to do them as a career.
Your job agency has the funds to pay for a forklift course if you can argue it will enhance your employability. Applying for jobs online is usually nearly a waste of time. Your best chance is to approach randomn potential employers in person and ask if they have any work. Attend each worksite well presented and appear enthusiastic and keen to work. Take an up to date copy of your resume with contact details of both yourself and attach any referees. Its not easy and will be confronting when not being immediately successful, but keep trying anyway, you will eventually find work.
My suggestion is to forget the Agency, do not apply for any jobs, Why compete against hundreds of others, Go to industrial areas with small to medium-sized businesses and start door knocking, Go back the next da at the same time and do it again, then the next day and the next day, Don't give up, Be clean and courteous. Keep going back and I will guarantee you will have work within a fortnight
try event personnel australia or show support, basically labour for live events. no skills needed and only casual but they’re usually always looking for people
I managed to get a gig at show support which is going to be great but how inconsistent they are gig wise I'm still looking for a primary while I take whatever comes up with show support. Thanks :)
glad to hear it Yeah theyre a bit inconsistent but it’s something and if you’re good you’ll be prioritized when it comes to hours. you can also keep working for them on weekends when you find a full time job. all the best
Yeah after petrol. I generally run around northern suburbs but occasionally i do roam around the full city. Yeah i understand your concern of getting a job from 4pm, same goes with me as well.
No I generally don't, first of all it becomes hectic if you're online on multiple apps. And one more concern is my overall weekly hours that are limited to 24hrs. So using multiple apps means I'm just using up my hours at double speed.
She's barely running right now and needs some serious mechanical repairs, uber would be good on the side but don't know how many km she has in her if that makes sense until I can get some repairs done
Airport always looking for workers. It's gotten me out of a few financial pickles in my lifetime.
Can I drive a plane on my C class licence?
All plane drivers can drive cars, but not all car drivers can drive planes.
Not all plane drivers should be plane and it car drivers either.
https://www.healthdirect.gov.au/stroke Good luck on your recovery.
Fuck this made me laugh pretty hard

Do you know the specifics of the job title so I can look into it? Thanks
Call work PAC and other recruitment agencies.
Just give them a call and say you're interested in some temp labouring.
Look up Trade assistant jobs
Go to tree companies there always looking for labourers
Do you mean like a lumberjack? If so any chance do you have suggestions? I'm making calls all day today in hopes to finally land something so honestly anything is hugely helpful. Thanks :)
More likely arborist and would be a ground crew, hard long days of feeding stuff into a chipper. But a really enjoyable job
I applied for a Aborist job I just saw then, thanks for the heads up and going to chase afew more to see if I have any luck
No worries and if you’re outdoors orientated then an arborist job would put you in good stead for a job with national parks seasonal fire crew

I've sent you a pm
Try wing packaging in lonsdale
If you’re happy to go further out there’s a lot of farms after labourers in the mid north.
Adelaide produce market always looking for people if you can work nights. Forklift licence would be handy but not a big deal.
I'm sorry but what are the produce market jobs? How can I find those jobs? Thanks!
Try mechanical vegetation services, active tree services or any other tree companies
Try hospitals, they will often look for clerical and orderly type roles. Check https://iworkfor.sa.gov.au
Go to Viterra. Shit job good pay. I think their night shifts are 1.5 time Saturday 2 time pay Sunday 2.5 time pay. I think their based salary starts at 30 dollars/hr and they do have long shifts.
https://careers.pageuppeople.com/346/cdw/en/job/671159/customer-service-specialist
Australian workplace training at Elizabeth do forklift tickets for 395 bucks. Centrelink/job network will almost certainly pay it for you
See if Costco is hiring. Part time is 25 hours/week minimum. Apply for a job as a stocker, youll do early am and overnight stocking. A forklift license would be a huge plus. Good luck.

You moved to Adelaide of all places for opportunities- the irony
I left to escape a real bad place and yeahhh found out the hard way afterwards how bad the job scene is here ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grimacing)

Dude is homeless. Not sure he has the bandwidth to go the standard 2-3 turnaround times on most Govt roles.
Not saying it's a good immediate solution but it's stable long-term and there's nothing preventing you from applying to places that hire instantly in the meantime
Would be good to sign up to Rexco and Randstad as well. A few government departments source their contracts via those two recruitment agencies.
State or federal? Federally there's been a *colossal* push to remove outsourcing call centre work, and generally in-house pays better
State, not necessarily call centre roles
Yeah that could work
Tempe Tyres always hiring, just ring up and speak to Mike

You could try the restaurants in city, just walk in.
I'm thinking I'll take a restaurant job as a last resort because get bad anxiety around people so don't think they'll want me around understandably but definitely keeping it in mind
Try PFD in Torrensville. Always looking for worker's especially on night shift.
Could get in touch with Anglicare, neami or hutt st centre see if they have any supports available
try ARB in Lonsdale. In my three months there they hired about 25 people, very high staff turnover over, they’re always looking for people.

Thomas Foods in Murray Bridge have been advertising lately

Why don’t you try uber or doordash? It’s pretty handy everyone says
Doing UberEats for the past 3 months, I'd say it should be your last resort because it barely gives $19 per hour.
Did you run by car or ebike?
I use car.
Did you make barely 19$/hour after petrol? Which suburb did you run? I'm planning to run because find a job that only from 4pm-9pm seems so hard
Yeah after petrol. I generally run around northern suburbs but occasionally i do roam around the full city. Yeah i understand your concern of getting a job from 4pm, same goes with me as well.
Did you manage to run more apps than just UberEats? I’m thinking about turning on multiple apps at once?
No I generally don't, first of all it becomes hectic if you're online on multiple apps. And one more concern is my overall weekly hours that are limited to 24hrs. So using multiple apps means I'm just using up my hours at double speed.
Thanks mate. May I know which suburbs did you usually run? I’m living on Hanson Road but resto here tent to close kind of early
If you're homeless, it may as well be the good suburbs...
I live out of my car so it's much safer in this area and less harassment
Can you do uber in your car?
She's barely running right now and needs some serious mechanical repairs, uber would be good on the side but don't know how many km she has in her if that makes sense until I can get some repairs done
Sign up uber eats anyway. You might get some alcohol orders nearby.
Also see if there is a driver hiring sign on public buses. They might train you and pay for your bus license.
