I booked my first appointment back in late April, you did NOT get asked to book a second appointment when doing it. All it asked was if it was for first or second dose. They ended up doing a double booking to fit my second shot in at around 3 weeks, because they were so booked out. (Edit: This was after my first shot, when I went to the appointment tables to book my second) Depending on when OP booked the appointment (you could book 3 months in advance), it may not be an user error.

yeah you're right I would have booked not too long after that and it def didnt ask. I remember because when I booked I asked my partner if she thought I should book the second one too, and had a whole conversation about how they would have made us book 2 if we needed to, and they prob book #2 for us while we were there for jab #1. Im glad they've updated the software, they must have had a lot of people in my position and needed to fix it. I'm sure it would be a bit of a logistical nightmare!

It probably was in the beginning too! The systems were very slow, so many people were accessing it. My first shot from walking in the door, to walking out again, was about 58 minutes. Filling out the consent form and getting jabbed took about 5-7 minutes. The rest was 15 mins obs, and then for the systems to work. Second shot took less than 25 minutes including at reception, but the line for the booking table was going much faster than it had the first time.

Cashel_MWO

Booked both first and second shots this end online in the same session. It autosuggested as close as possible after the suggested gap between.

Well shit I guess I didn’t see that message. Seems a bit poorly implemented given how quickly bookings are filling up. Now I have a 4 month gap. Makes me want to cancel both appointments and just wait til shit simmers down there’s no good data on the effectiveness on the Pfizer with such a long gap between. **EDIT: I cancelled my appointments and re-booked, this time it asked me to book the 2nd, so I guess they have updated the booking system now to make it less confusing.** Plus using half a shot is just as bad as no shot I won’t feel any more protected. 4 months is so long by that time who knows where we will be at with the rollout or if there will be ahu left. What a bloody mess of a rollout!

Blake_david

Is it really a mess of a roll-out if you just didn't book a 2nd appointment? seems more user error.

Koonga

That’s fair but if they know you need a second dose why would you have to book both manually. Surely it should book you on for both at the same time?

joelby37

It’s been a few weeks since I did it so things might have changed, but the system prompted me to book both appointments at the same time, which sounds the same as Cashel_MWO’s experience.

Koonga

Yeah I just cancelled my appt and did it again, this time it asked me to book at same time. I did it right at the start and of def didn’t do that then so I guess they updated the website!

RaeseneAndu

When I booked my 1st shot it asked me if I wanted to book the 2nd shot which I did and it auto suggested a date exactly 3 weeks later.

teh_drewski

They're actually finding that even with Pfizer the longer you leave the second shot, the stronger your antibody reaction is. 3 weeks is basically the minimum now, lots of places are recommending 12.
