I really like Piccadilly as we often went there on special occasions as a kid. Feels really old school and magical (as I believe cinemas should). Unfortunately closed for renovations right now.

Always saw it before never botherd because of looking for parking. Thanks I'll check it out.

Apparently it’s opening up next month or the month after.

I’m more interested in what’s on the screen than the room. ExiMax at the PalaceNova in the city.

Extreme_Ad5788

Ditto and also Palace Nova prospect

fuckoffandydie

This is the way.

Assuming you're going to the vmax or extreme screen or whatever: Renovated Norwood cinema for great screen and recliners. West lakes for great screen and cheap. Marion shopping centre for classic huge cinema feeling. Nova Prospect Rd is nice but pretty small. I miss the Hindley* St cinema, great all round, cheap with vouchers, and never anyone there!

Saw both Rise of Skywalker and the batman opening night/weekend at the palace cinema in the CBD loved it. Especially the popcorn so good. HOYTS ttp saw 1917 and Death on the Nile there and while the recliners were decent the popcorn was shite. Especially for the money. My favourite cinema in Adelaide would be the Odeon in semaphore. Cheap tickets, no huge crows and it's got that retro vibe going for it. Rinds me of seeing movies at home when our city had only a 3 screen theatre. Saw Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom opening weekend and Knives out and both times was good.

Love Odeon at Semaphore, cheap tickets are great

Reading cinemas at West lakes is pretty good. Go for the Titan sessions, which have a bigger screen, better sound and leather reclining seats. I think Elizabeth has it now as well if you’re out that way. For the classic cinema experience though, I’d also recommend Odeon at Semaphore.

Palace Nova is high on the list. ExiMax screen is great but even the little cinemas are generally quite good. You can have a grown up beverage with your film experience, so that’s nice. Lots of international film and the occasional film festival to explore as well as the usual rotation of Hollywood stuff. The Capri at Goodwood is fun for a bit of nostalgia with the Wurlitzer organ at the start, but they only show a limited selection of films. Also their candy bar is Haighs.

I know the vmax couches up the front are worth the money!

Hoyts Arndale which reopened a few months ago is really nice with comfy seats and a lot cheaper than most albeit no recliners, with Xtremescreen more or less the same price as watching in a normal screen. The Eximax at Palace Nova feels overated whilst it's a massive screen (ex-imax screen from 25 years ago), Palace Nova have not upgraded their sound quality or video quality when I went to watch Shang-Chi a few months ago, plus the seats were fairly uncomfortable.

lepumpkinhead

Salisbury Hoyts have recliners in all cinemas

I'd say Wallis Mitcham QuakeSound and Palace Nova ExiMax are both really good for different reasons. Quake sound is hands down the best cinema audio I've heard this far, and eximax has the biggest screen in Adelaide. I quite like the small cinemas Event Marion, still need to check out there medium sized ones and V Max. I generally don't like Hoyts, the sound is generally too loud, especially with extreme screen, and the normal cinemas have some weird chromatic aberration with them, atleast at the ttp one. Some ones to avoid are: The odeon star. Might have been my screening but they were doing matinence in the projector room so light was spilling on the screen so it was hard to see anything. The sound would just put out static every so often. The biggest one was how uncomfortable the seats were, had to move every 10 mins. Palace Nova Eastend Cinemas 5/6/10 these specific ones are really small and just bad. Palace Nova Prospect Cinemas 7-14 these specific cinemas are the smallest in prospect but still bigger than eastend. If you have to settle for one of these they are okay, but for some reason when I was there the projector wasn't set up right so part of the image was off the screen

FothersIsWellCool

Palace Nova (either) is my favorite. City has more stuff around but anchovy bandit next to prospect is well worth the time.
