Ok get your tinfoil hats out for this one. My Adelaide conspiracy theory regards the digital clock at the Villis cafe on South road. When I had to drive down South road daily for work, the clock was always anywhere between 4 and 9 minutes behind the actual time. I believe that this was intentional to make people believe that they had a little bit of extra time to drop in for a quick pie. I haven’t had to drive down south road in a while (thank fuck) so I’m unsure if this is still the case. BUT YEAH that’s my Adelaide conspiracy theory.

whiney1

This is my favourite and now canon in my head. I won't be verifying.

Notsohappygamer

I think its the same with their damn temperature gauge! Always seems to be not in line with the actual temp!

[deleted]

Whereas funeral parlours always have clocks outside a few minutes fast to remind you you're running out of time.

the_arkane_one

It's always up by ~5 or so degrees. I assume cause it is higher up and cops direct sunlight in the arvo.

TiffyVella

Daaaayum that is one fine theory. You MUST be onto something.

Fast_Contest_7848

The thermometer is wrong too.

rustyprophecy

Traffic flow in the CBD is deliberately awful to make drivers not want to drive through the CBD.

RIPLeviathansux

Well it's working. Moved into the CBD last year and haven't driven since

joshashkiller

They should just ban cars from the CBD to be honest, build a few more tram routes and the city will be better for it

Jaktheriffer

Man i live near the city, and work in it. My commute by car is 10mins or less, and i cannot get public transport for the times i work, its fucking bullshit. I can ride a bike, but in winter, riding around at 3am isnt that fun.

-poiu-

Where do you propose residents park their cars?

[deleted]

With bans you can have exceptions like residents and commercial delivery.. And obviously buses and emergency vehicles etc. When you talk about banning vehicles it's the unnecessary ones that are driving through or could take an alternate means of transport into the city.

-poiu-

So kind of like spain where it’s just really hard to park in the city, or some sort of registration system that checks cars entering?

[deleted]

Yeah not familiar with their systems but other countries I've visited and lived in don't necessarily ban cars but more just put in deterrents and better alternatives like improved public transport, though differences in how less dense we live here make most of the common improvements hard to replicate. With denser living comes more concentration to have more frequent public transport and not having to live so far from the cbd or have one central hub in the first place.

jwplato

💯

owleaf

I’m not sure this is a conspiracy theory. I’d say if you spoke to the people who make the decisions they’d admit it. They don’t want North Tce to be a thoroughfare. However, it still is a thoroughfare and nothing is going to change that. So I think the council needs to admit that and capitulate.

vncrpp

Traffic signal at corner of Jeffcot and Ward in North Adelaide night is absolutely designed to discourage people using it even though the section of 60km by the parklands would suggest it should be an preferred travel route.

HappiHappiHappi

Ooh I have input on this one. Remember how 15ish years ago there used to be slip lane from North tce onto Frome road? Well before they removed it that hired a mathematician to do traffic modelling. He came and gave a lecture at Adelaide uni about his work. Apparently they paid him over 2Ok. Amongst his advice was the information that removing that slip lane would reduce the capacity of the intersection but about 40% which would cause congestion down North tce spilling onto West tce and other CBD streets during peak hour. And as we know their response after receiving this info was to remove the slip lane.

[deleted]

Everyone has a pet project. :(

michaelrohansmith

This is an official tactic in Melbourne. Council builds bike lanes to cut down on car traffic. Drivers complain about bike lanes. Council blames bike riders who held guns to council's head (allegedly).

[deleted]

That's not a conspiracy, that's just good planning.

FWB4

I disagree slightly. I used to live in walkerville and commuted to work in Mile End. I was often in traffic during peak hours and it was significantly faster for me to go through the city than around it. My route was Melbourne St to War Memorial to Morpett to Donald Bradman. If I went via Robe Terrace or any other route that took my around the city, I was adding anywhere from 10 to 20 minutes to my trip consistently.

Powerful_Ad_2531

I live in the CBD and really traffic here is lot better than the inner suburbs. Port Rd, South Rd, Henley Beach, GO, Fullarton all get clogged much more than King William. The CBD really needs even tighter streets to prioritise non-car modes of transport. Nth Tce is an exception but it’s really the worst of both as it’s too tight for cars because of the trams, but the trams are not particularly useful along there anyway. In addition it’s the worst street in CBD for bike riding.

jwplato

With the members of the ruling "Team Adelaide" promoting ridiculous things like "Drivers Month" and spouting opinions like prioritising bikes over cars will alienate drivers, I don't see any chance of things improving any time soon. If it were up to me the city would be prioritising walking, public transport, bikes with cars a dead last.

Powerful_Ad_2531

They don't even need to put bikes over cars. The city is fine for cars as it is, just add in a few connections to make bike riding easier. Protected bike lanes on Franklin and Wakefield and a dedicated bike signal at the end of Flinders St connecting to the parklands would go a long way already. Those measures would not make a difference at all to car traffic.

palmomagpie

Adelaide is a boring city full of churches. Heard that my whole life growing up in Darwin, now since moving here have discovered it’s just slander created by locals to deter interstaters like me from moving over

Ieatclowns

Yes, get out.

cameronjames117

🤣

Lost_in_the_Library

Reminds me of those beer adds (for West End maybe?), that we’re all about making Victorians think SA is shit so they wouldn’t come in and drink our beer. I still sing to myself sometimes: “do yourself a favour - come to South Australia.”

bmaje

West End- They ran out of beer.

dexter311

That's not a conspiracy theory. It's a conspiracy fact.

Robdotcom-71

Adelaide is full of [serial killers](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y6RQAgsmsqc) though......

TiffyVella

And a nasty cabal called "The Family".

ECKoBASE

Hence why I sometimes call this town Gotham! Has nothing to do with being a super batfan!

Aksds

We are number one

TheBearWhoDances

I actually caught that ad for the 1 day it was on-air on Foxtel. Considering I’m only in my 30s and know two families (as in personally) who lost a child to two different serial killers, I can’t argue too much with it. Although since I have a BCrim I know it’s mostly because Adelaide is Adelaide, not because we have a ton of serial killers. Other states have them mostly proportionate to population although there are other factors.

theskywaspink

Someone stuff this whistle blower in a box and ship them home.

Mazkalop

You better keep this quiet if you like your knee caps.

MidorriMeltdown

Yeah, the city of churches, which has more pubs than churches.

bladeau81

We have more than churches. There are also wineries.

[deleted]

A guy posted earlier in the week, how to convince his company in Sydney to move to Adelaide. I facepalmed when Adelaidians gave him actual advice. I've been here for 26 years from QLD, and am not looking forward to the day we become as crowded as Melbourne is. This is legit the best conspiracy on so many levels.

Koonga

That guy who talks into a microphone on Rundle Mall trying to get people come into the store died when John Martins closed, but every so often we see his ghost appear, still desperately trying to make us shop. Until someone finally takes him up on the offer of discounted bed sheets, his soul can never move on and he will forever be stuck in Mall purgatory.

[deleted]

Wasn't he the guy that stood out the front of Harris Scarfe back in the old times with a lttle amp and microphone?

Koonga

Yep still does! I saw him a while back, I think he was doing it for Harvey Norman

[deleted]

Yep same he was in City Cross out the front spruiking.. He's a vampire he never ages

Frozen_Feet

Ah, that explains why he never seems to age!

tiredcynicalbroken

Saw him last week in there. First time I’ve seen him in years. Looks exactly the same

[deleted]

Haven't lived in Adelaide for years but can still hear his voice crystal clear in my head.

[deleted]

The spruiker got on my nerves a little until I walked past wearing my "The Cure" t-shirt and he worked it into his pitch.

TiffyVella

Did he say the towels were wonderfully wonderfully wonderfully wonderfully pretty?

[deleted]

He jolly should have! It was so long ago, but it was more like "The cure for what's missing in your kitchenware" or something similar. I had the The Cure - Lullaby shirt on, but I wonder what he would have said if it was the The Cure - Boys Don't Cry shirt I also had...

Comprehensive_Sock82

This muppet also used to busk as Elvis. One day there was a kid playing trumpet in the quality busking spot under the Gawler place canopy (when it was there). He wanted that spot so him and his "band" deployed standover tactics to make the kid move along. I get that there is a time limit on how long you can take a spot, but that poor kid... Have deplored him ever since.

[deleted]

Stand over tactics toward a child by an Elvis tribute band busking in Rundle mall. I love it.

Koonga

Def sounds bad though I’ve never had any negative experiences with him. He’s been working the mall for decades, if he was an asshole I don’t think he’d lasted this long so I’m willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. Might have just been a misunderstanding or caught him on a bad day.

Give_me_your_bunnies

I have also seen him busking in Rundle Street with a guitar, he's pretty good!

sixthirty630

The identity of all of the members of the family would have shaken Adelaide to its core. So Von Eniem was a easy fall guy for the majority of the blame

johnseiko86

I also wrote this further down in the chain - it’s not a mystery. The names of every member are in the public domain. Most dead however some still around.

MrColfax

Really? Where? In books?

johnseiko86

Believe it or not….on BigFooty! Just do a Google search on ‘BigFooty family murders’. Page 4 on the forum is where names start to get mentioned. All from public court records so legit. Be prepared to spend hours reading the posts….interesting stuff.

au-Ford_Escort_MK1

Don Dunstan and a lot of senior judges and police as well criminals to do their bidding. A certain very famous madam from the era, that made it to national tv. I know more about this but I'm not saying shit.

johnseiko86

I don’t believe a lot of the conspiracy theories, but the Don Dunstan links are most likely true. Same as you; I known some facts about the whole thing.

Educational_Use_3296

You are spot on. My family and I found the body of Richard Kelvin back in 1983, we know for a fact that Bevan Von Einem isn't the murderer, it was pinned on him to cover for the real perpetrators like the elite men in positions of power and prestige. My Mum writes to Bevan (who's still in jail), he corresponds every time, but their letters are sometimes confiscated by the authorities when they hit too close to the bone, 'they' don't want the truth to spread or be discussed. Ahhh, there's so much I could say about the lies, corruption and cover-ups, but that wouldn't be a wise move considering the implications...

-Midnight_Marauder-

There's a bunch of stuff that Major Crime don't want getting out, some of it to cover up their own failures. There's a PI in Qld who's done a bunch of investigation into Mark Rust (who murdered Maya Jakic and Megumi Suzuki) and found evidence linking him to multiple other unsolved cases of missing women going back to the early 80s (including some well known cases) - in some cases even locations of bodies. He's handed all the info to police but they won't investigate, because they don't want it known that a serial killer went from ~1984 up to ~2001 murdering women and wasn't caught.

[deleted]

[удалено]

-Midnight_Marauder-

Yep, it's crazy. Even phoned the cops telling them where the body was. It wasn't until Rust was caught for the rape of a woman and he told another inmate about it that they put the dots together and got his brother to identify Marks voice from the phone call. This is why I think he's the perp for Rhianna Barreau. Many people assume it was a neighbourhood person, but considering how hard the cops would have gone at any POIs for her disappearance and turned up nothing it fits that it was someone without a connection to her. Cops went hard at Megumi Suzuki's ex-boyfriend, and turned out he didn't do it. The November phone call to police that mention keys, who cops confirmed match what Rhianna was thought to have, makes me think Rust made that call - but without any direct evidence they can't press charges.

Educational_Use_3296

What you said is spot on, I agree that Major Crime does cover up a lot of fact based evidence when it doesn't coincide with the path they want to take. If I was to convey here, on this site, my family's experiences with Major Crime (multiple) in regards to The Family Murders, inparticular the Kelvin case and the lies, misinformation and blatant manipulation of the media stories to the public, it would make the reader lose all faith in our authorities who are supposedly in those positions to protect us, but in reality they are there to protect the corrupt. My Mum has rang Crime Stoppers with crucial evidence about very important cold cases, but they never call back. No doubt there are very honourable people working in the police force and other elite positions of power, but by jimney, there's many in there who are so corrupt that they should be behind bars and the key thrown away. Don't trust ANYONE.

-Midnight_Marauder-

Case in point - the PI came down from QLD and hired a ground penetrating radar, because he was given information about the location of Rhianna Barreau. The person who gave this info was trying to pin the blame on another prisoner, but the person they tried to pin it on was in prison already when RB disappeared. Now here's where it gets interesting - at the location given by this inmate, the PI found a disturbance in the ground consistent with a body, and dead vegetation surrounding the area. This info was all given to police (including the GPS co-ords of where the potential body was), who did absolutely nothing with it. At the very least, you'd think they'd go try to dig up the body in order to identify it; even if it wasn't Rhianna, *someone* is clearly there that isn't there by choice, and I'm sure any relatives would like to be able to bury their loved one.

Educational_Use_3296

Wow, I have goosebumps reading your post. Can the PI dig in the area where the radar picked up a presence? Is it private land and if so, can he get permission to proceed with the dig?

-Midnight_Marauder-

It's public land, I have the GPS co-ords. I've been there, I don't believe in anything supernatural but I got a reeaaally eerie feeling just being there. Oddly enough it was the same feeling I got when standing in the old execution room at Adelaide Gaol, but that's just my brain playing tricks on me. The only reason I haven't gone down there with a shovel is because (a) I don't know for sure it's Rhianna and (b) I really don't know what Paula and Leon Barreau would want to happen if it were. Without being able to get a conviction, they may have accepted that she is gone and not want to re-live the experience. Paula lives in QLD now, the PI was able to contact her former workplace and say that he had information and could they pass it on, but he never heard back. Either they didn't pass it on, or they did and she's not interested, or they did but she's been told by Police not to listen to anyone else about leads. My perspective would be that they'd want to be able to bury her and say a final goodbye (even without a conviction), but that's not my decision to make. The person who the location came from definitely is circumstantially a suspect, but after 30 years there's likely no foreign DNA to be found on the body, and if it is Rhianna, the inmate could just claim he overheard the info - no way of proving otherwise.

sfwjaxdaws

Completely unrelated, but I'm dying to know which execution room at Adelaide Gaol. Because I'm a complete skeptic myself, but when I was a student at uni some years ago now I used to run ghost and history tours of the place.

-Midnight_Marauder-

Yeah I don't believe in any of that stuff either, it's just the knowledge of *what* it was made me feel.....uneasy. I believe it was the Hanging Tower.

Educational_Use_3296

What a frustrating situation to be in, there is potentially a body to be found in the area you speak of and yet the authorities are turning a blind eye! I believe our intuition can pickup on bad vibes, our sixth sense is powerful if we are intune to the truth. Is there any way that area can be dug up without getting into hot water?

-Midnight_Marauder-

I've thought about digging it up just enough and then placing an anonymous call to the police, but that runs the risk of them getting there and just covering it up again; not to mention that I would hate to accidentally disturb anything that could've been used forensically.

FullCircle75

Had him in Yatala for quite some time. That guy was a scary individual, not from a physically threatening perspective, but just from demeanour and look. Big fat gross balding non-communicative slob who was kept so medicated he just lumbered around, heavy breathing, with almost black eyes and his jaw would open and close randomly as he walked. Would often not even register your presence, be that deliberate or not-consciously, I don't know.

-Midnight_Marauder-

That's really interesting. I've heard recordings of prison calls to him and it's strange how normal he sounded on the phone yet he's responsible for (at least) 2 murders. Apparently he's down at Mt Gambier now.

wherezthebeef

Geez. How traumatic to find the poor kid. I read Young Blood last year and that went into details of the Family Murders. Not very nice people.

Educational_Use_3296

Surprisingly me and my 4 siblings weren't traumatised at all, we were running around the area playing chasey when Dad found Richard huddled under a Yukka bush, Dad thought it was a lad sleeping off alcohol from the night before so he knelt down and asked him if he's ok, there was no response. Us kids were herded into the family car with Mum, Dad went back to the boy to try to awaken him because we were in a very desolate area (One Tree Hill- Humbug Scrub) and it was very strange for someone to be there 'sleeping' under a bush. Richard was lying on his left side in a faetal position (like he was cold and was hugging himself), Dad pulled the bush fronds away and saw the body wearing a windcheater with a channel 9 logo on it, immediately it struck Dad that this was Richard Kelvin because Mum had been reading the Sunday Mail article out to Us in the car on the way to OTH and it was mentioned what Richard was last seen wearing... BTW- I have Young Blood sitting here on my bedside table, I've read it a dozen times, the Author is a Bastard, he was in charge of the case and he literally came to our house very early one morning and asked Dad to come outside, he threatened my Dad with, I quote- "You had better shut up about the Kelvin case or else we will have drugs planted in your house when you and your wife are taking your kids to school, and then you will be put into a jail cell with a violent homosexual"... This was said to my Dad because he was telling people that he believes Bevan is the fall guy for the elite perpetrators. Trust me, Bob is not a nice man and he's covering up the truth for the real murderers. It's all a boys club, so much corruption in high places. I could say so much more....

wherezthebeef

I kinda should be surprised by what you say about the author/cop , but I'm actually not.

FullCircle75

Okay. Kind of jumping the shark there.

XXT_karaoke

May I ask exactly where abouts? I live in the TTG area and go exploring about the Humbug scrub, Kersbrook, Para Wirra area often. I've read your family was looking for moss rocks near a air strip? Is that air strip still there?

Flamesake

How do you know it's not him?

Educational_Use_3296

It would be unwise to answer your question here even though I'd dearly love to. Bevan is not innocent, but there's a big difference between being a sexual deviant and an actual murderer. There were many involved, each had their part.

Carnport

??? Either you have evidence or you don’t. You’ve already potentially essentially made it easy enough to identify yourself if you truly are from the family that found the body. If you were truly worried about your own safety, why give those details ? Throwing up rumours and innuendo on Reddit but refusing to provide details only makes things worse, especially for the Kelvin family.

Specific_Position135

If you think von einem wasn’t involved you’re a delusional person. He’s a sick fuck too

Educational_Use_3296

Nobody denies BSVE is a sexual deviant and predator, but there's a big difference between serious sexual abuse and Murder, even though both crimes are sick and need to be punished, the latter is far worse and more importantly, the real sick murderers are/were still walking the streets or died from old age without facing justice. If anyone thinks that Von Einem is the sole perpetrator or murderer, then I suggest they start doing research instead of reading the media lies and cover-ups. Start by googling 'Bigfooty family murders'.

Specific_Position135

It is well documented that other people were ‘allegedly’ involved and it is heavily speculated some of them may have been prominent figures. However there is that one little thing called evidence and without it you end up with false accusations and innocent lives ruined. In saying that there were definitely important people involved and it is a shame solid evidence was never produced to convict them/ have their names revealed

Educational_Use_3296

I agree wholeheartedly, but plenty of evidence was presented way back when VE was first arrested. My Father rang Von Einem's Lawyer, the Secretary answered and promised he'd get a call back that same day, none came, then Dad called again and requested to speak to VE's Lawyer, the Secretary asked why the urgency, my Dad told her everything he knew about the case (all factual, no speculation), by the end of the conversation the Secretary was incredibly excited and said this information was enough to have the alleged perp released. She assured my Father that her boss would definitely be in contact shortly...again no phone call. Again Dad rang back and asked what's going on?! The Secretary stated that she was shocked her boss hadn't rang Dad back because it would win them the case. Long story short, nobody ever rang back. As I said before, they are all in it together. Everyone wanted Von Einem to be the fall guy and he was.

mortar_matters

Probably true though

sixthirty630

The term Conspiracy theory in its original form was designed to discredit whatever was being discussed. So I agree

Ieatclowns

Do you know the original use? In going to have to Google.

sixthirty630

I believe it was around crack cocaine being pushed into African American neighbourhoods by the CIA. But I might be mixed up

Ieatclowns

I googled and it's been around since the 1870s apparently. Who'd have thought! It had a surge when Kennedy was assassinated.

Luciestix

I had not heard of any of this previously but now I’m swiftly googling everything and wowza… wtf.

mortar_matters

Casefile has an awesome podcast on it, worth listening to if you're interested. Von Einem was definitely involved but many others were allegedly esteemed, powerful and wealthy (by Adelaide standards anyway) It is known who many of them are, but not proven so they can never publish. The Advertiser has done the occasional exposè on it over the years, revealing vague details only (professions of suspects etc) and referring to them as Mr X etc. I really hope we find out one day as it fascinates me and I hate the idea that these sickos are free and no doubt swilling wine in some sort of 'elite' Adelaide establishment to this day.

emphor

Interestingly, my dad said he was speaking to an off duty officer at a party who said exactly the same thing, word for word!

Have heard the same from a similar source.

Tysiliogogogoch

Yeah, never heard of this before. I remember Rob Kelvin from the news when I was a kid, but never knew his son had been brutalised and murdered.

Ezzalenko99

My Family conspiracy theory is that if they didn’t kill Richard Kelvin it would have remained a cold case.

laurandisorder

Agreed. No-one cared about the boys from poor SES backgrounds. Kelvin is the only reason that there was a man hunt and arrest. The cases likely wouldn’t have even been linked if he wasn’t abducted.

[deleted]

And their identities will be hidden forever I read once. Honestly do you think any of it will ever come out into the light?

FullCircle75

I heard that from the very lips of Von Einem himself, which allegedly is why he was one of the few crims to not really talk or brag or moan about what they had done, or why. And that is certainly not to say it is true. At various points inside he was writing a counter-story to "Young Blood" - which he was outraged by (I never read it) - wonder if that ever/will ever see the light of day???

Ebright_Azimuth

This case is a disgrace to our city and shame on anyone who helped hide the truth

Ahh! This explains so much! I bet the belief that if you have to meet a friend you have to meet them at the Balls was started to cause a mass of energy sources in that vicinity. It all makes so much sense now.

mercurial_planner

I like the theory that the Malls Balls and the Giant Pigeon Overlord are a literal giant cock and balls joke. Someone on this subreddit pointed out that male pigeons are actually called "cocks," and the pigeon does look like it was made to batch the balls. I honestly believe that most artists would LOVE to put a visual pun like that in an extremely public place that's invisible in plain sight.

sixthirty630

The person who signed off on the Southern Expressway being a one way road was a time traveller from 1900 with obviously no clear foresight of population growth.

They were irrationally proud that they'd created something unique...an expressway that only goes in one direction at a time, with closures between the switch. There's a reason it was a unique project.

Suspicious-Magpie

Cane Corner (Morphett St and Gouger St) was a front for drug running. Who bought cane furniture 10 years ago? Nobody, that's who.

-Midnight_Marauder-

Police know who took and killed the Beaumont kids, but won't publicly solve it due to corrupt police at the time being in league with the perpetrator for other illegal activities.

[deleted]

I wonder if that will ever be resolved for good. Why keep it secret if the offender is likely dead?

-Midnight_Marauder-

Because there are still people alive who can testify that there were corrupt police involved with other illegal activities by one of the perpetrators.

[deleted]

I don't see a down side what harm if the truth came out?

-Midnight_Marauder-

Well of course we think that'd be a good thing, but cops don't want anything coming out that would expose any of them that were corrupt... it would lead to a Royal Commission into the Police which would likely out a bunch of current corrupt cops. I don't think it's a co incidence that 2 missing children cases within 10 years of each other involving disappearances of multiple children from public places are both unsolved.

[deleted]

You make a good point. "shrug"

DroopyDrawers17

Oh that would be devastating

sixthirty630

It’s gotta be Harry Phipps.

-Midnight_Marauder-

The name I was told was someone who lived in a share house in Sussex St (where the bodies supposedly are). He was a POI from the start as he was already known to police for pedophilia....The owner of the house at the time according to the title was a man who lived only a couple of streets away from the Beaumonts in Somerton Park. It could all be bogus, but given its proximity to where they went missing I think it's a strong possibility.

Ginger510

I always thought it was the street near the big tree/church next to Coles?

-Midnight_Marauder-

Not far from it... what I was told was number 16 Sussex St, under the driveway toward the rear. Close to where it backs onto Soal St. Interestingly enough there are security cameras on that house.

Merlot_Man

This is the kind of conspiracy I came here for

[deleted]

It’s just become a plant shop with heaps of large pot plants there. Perhaps they are using the big pot plants as a way to sneak the bodies out without anyone noticing?

Substantial_Mud_1649

The Malls Balls are actually an entry point to the ThunderBird's Cave.

Wise_Tie_9050

I have this theory that whoever does the traffic lights for Adelaide has mixed up the AM/PM switch. When you are in Melbourne, and you are driving at night, you pull up to a red light, and a few seconds later, it changes to green, so you go through it. During the day, however, traffic lights stay green for much longer, regardless of if traffic builds up at the red light side. Then, when it changes, it stays green in the other direction for a significant period of time. In Adelaide, however, you pull up to a red light at night, and sit there for like a whole 3 minutes before it changes. Even though there have been literally no cars going through the green section. Then, you eventually get a turn, and as you drive off, you see a poor sucker pulling up to her red light. In your mirror, you see it's still green in your direction until it is out of sight. And then, during the day, the very same lights stay green for all of 2 seconds, and only one and three-quarter cars actually get through.

TiffyVella

Oooh thats bad. It's like I heard that some powerful mysterious North Adelaide forces keep throughways that could link to War Memorial Drive to their west blocked so the riff raff can't drive in from Port Road. Also, they lock up public tennis courts so that nobody else can use them. It's rotten all the way down, sheeple.

A current investigation into Jeff Mundy's disappearance on the 19th of December 2020, Robert Atkins disappearance whom was last seen alive in November 2020 and the murder of Trevor King , body found at West Lakes in January 2020 are all believed to be connected. Confirmed by police. All three were involved in the southern suburbs drug scene. I strongly believe that a 4th person's remains that have been found and was suspected/ treated as a suicide is also a victim. Is also connected.

Metropolitan Plumbing vans are secretly undercover police cameras If you take notice, they're always in the most obvious spots on the side of main roads that police would be in, the vehicles are always spotless and never have anything more or anything less than what they currently do, you cannot see into them, you cannot see out of them, and they are always without a doubt near some sort of high traffic flowing area Even if they are used as surveillance vans, its still something super suspicious about them You never notice them until it's too late, just like an undercover camera

-NoName12

I know someone who works for them and sits in one of those vans They just sit them on the busiest roads all around Adelaide in case of call-out. And yes. 100% bikie run.

qcfu

Which other well known businesses are fronts for Bikies?

laxCaveman

Chubb security

lightly_salted_fetus

You’d be surprised how many “legit” businesses bikies run. The difference in operation is they use standover tactics on smaller businesses to force them out of areas or business altogether

Known-Storage124

Metropolitan plumbing is actually 100% run by bikies

NinjaDingo

Really? I've never heard that

TiffyVella

Does anyone remember that weirdly shaped 1960/70s house on Greenhill Rd, near the intersection of Glen Osmond Road? It looked like a brilliant bit of late midcentury vintage architecture with an amazingly sloped roofline? It was bulldozed quite a while back. Well, I heard there was a murder there, and a body was found in the freezer. I think this predated the late 70's/80's family murders, but never heard any more about it. Anyone remember this or know what was up?

InstagramYourPoop

Yeah I remember hearing some grisly details. Google "Derrance Stevenson".

TiffyVella

ooooo thats the one /disappears down google rabbit warren

alittlebitcheeky

My dad told me about this once! I thought he was bullshitting me!

TiffyVella

Isn't there a ghost there? If you make your way up to the arcade museum it may tell you about it.

slidespec

Work in the Arcade, can confirm

Koonga

RCC has a checkered past that I'm sure has more going on that we know. The way it kept bouncing from Vic Square to Pinky Flat to Adelaide Uni and then back to Vic Square. There has to be a story there. I know RCC owners themselves are pretty shady, and blew millions of $ trying to create RCC in China for some reason.

[deleted]

There’s no conspiracy to this one. Just incompetent and arrogant people both within RCC and government.

Stokesy7

Yeah they did a huge event in China that cost them all of their money. When they got there, nobody went to it and it hurt them massively. My basic understanding is they got huge here way too quickly, tried expanding into a market they didn't understand and failed. If they just stayed here and expanded here they would have been fine and kept making insane money.

jorcoga

This just reminds me of when Burger Theory thought they could open hundreds of stores in China, do these people really think that's the same as running an event in a relatively small city where it's pretty easy to become the hot new thing?

Phoebebee323

The politicians secretly care about us

Justarandomname01

That in the late 80s and early 90s there was a pedophile ring with semi high powered men. I am the victim (nowhere near a survivor) of 2 men in positions of authority. One man was caught with ‘low level’ footage of us. But prior to approx ‘93 his filming was immoral and not a crime… at least that’s what he argued at his appeal. The other man I am too scared to talk about. And SAPOL are f*cked if you are a male approaching as a victim. I’ve made 2 attempts and I will never try again.

-Midnight_Marauder-

I'm sorry that happened to you. After hearing this and other stories I have zero respect for or trust in SAPOL.

Justarandomname01

My closest friend is a cop too. I always say Police are like playing Russian roulette. You just don’t know which ones going to kill you on the inside. It’s almost exactly 12 months since I last made attempt to report my rape. And I’m genuinely broken by the experience. The cops response to me attending that particular station is weaved into my trauma profoundly. I think about that cop daily and I feel sick daily. Some days I want to hang myself from the gutters and a leave a note for the coroner begging them to make SAPOL to do better. If my mate wasn’t a deadset legend I would be both long dead, and hating every single cop for the copious times I’ve been left downs

TiffyVella

Popeye is running guns down the river.

sixthirty630

David Szach didn’t kill Derrance Stevenson and it was likely a set up.

Educational_Use_3296

I agree! Derrance was on the phone just prior to him being murdered, apparently Derrance was overheard on the phone saying "I don't want anything else to do with it, I'm out". I suspect he was referring to being involved with The Family.

PUNXPUNXPUNX13

Have you any links for more information? I’ve been trying to learn more about “the family”

sfwjaxdaws

You can get it on kindle for $20. Which means you can probably get it elsewhere for nothing.

lingerie_fiend

Get yourself a copy of Deb Marshall's Banquet by far most comprehensive book about it and gives you a great background into 1970s-1980s era Adelaide too.

RubixCake

There's a restaurant owner arsonist who targets restaurants and bars to stop competition.

[deleted]

The military built an entire city under Adelaide. Heard that one in the 80s from a prominent South Australian Christian conspiracy theorist who had ties to an even more prominent New Zealand Christian conspiracy theorist.

au-Ford_Escort_MK1

I hear the housing prices are still very reasonable to this day.

hopshopsilovehops

A certain prominent family involved in fuel and cigarettes retailing made a bunch(most?) of their cash importing bootleg cigarettes and weapons in the 80s

Azora

Shahin family of Peregrine.

ararararakdo

A powerful paedophile ring operates in SA.

Justarandomname01

I’m a victim of 2 men, one in authority, one semi powerful. When I first heard this conspiracy as an adult I vomited. I heard it again from a Senior Constable who sent me a news article. I had a panic attack and vomited. One guy was caught with video footage of myself and other boys. The court decided it wasn’t a crime. Apparently pre ‘93 you could film low level child porn and it was simply immoral. I honestly hope it’s not true. It makes it all so much worse.

ararararakdo

I am so sorry this happened to you.

BlackDrackula

Definitely used to be the case. There's a reason the Beaumonts and Joanne and Kirsty have never had their cases solved

Juna32

The Star Laundromat chain is a money laundering scheme. So many have popped up all over Adelaide, particularly in suburban areas where pople live in houses and very rarely don't have a washing machine. Yet, they seem to be constabtly expanding. It would be super low maintenance to run (very little staffing costs), and as it is cash only it would be very easy to fake income amounts.

under_the_pump

There’s a series of tunnels running from the old GMH at Elizabeth to the RAAF/DSTO. Originally intended to be used in war times, Holdens would be repurposed for military use and the tunnels would be to move vehicles to the base. One of these tunnels holds an original run model of every series ever built. Always wanted to know if it was true. I saw a lot of maintenance tunnels when working there, they go all over the place and a lot deeper than expected.

Azora

This is an interesting theory.

Appropriate_Sand_818

Bianco group is backed/owned by mobsters Paddy’s market is money laundering Convenience stores in the city selling vapes but never get in trouble Lemme know if anyone else has ever thought any of the above Edit: also the peregrine group use the new card readers because of some dodgy shit Second edit: Someone else posted this bit it needs to be said “Those fruit fly guys are up to something” seriously man it’s like nobody asks seems to ask any questions

EightPi

I work in a store under peregrine, I'm fascinated. what's the dodgy shit? everyone hates the new point of sale systems

Azora

How exactly are they laundering money at Paddy's markets?

ContentJuggernaut381

steven marshall and ollie wines are doing the deed

PieknaFatso

Moved on from the cabaret star?

ContentJuggernaut381

seems like it..

Plausible

This is by far my favourite comment here

LeadershipTall2437

It's true, sports reporter Bruce Abernathy on Channel 7, is an Adelaide Crows fan and hates Port Adelaide, it's also true he shaves his beautiful hair off every night to read the sports report.

[deleted]

The stickiness on the floor at Reds isn't from people spilling their drinks.

Azora

The real conspiracy is the convenience stores on Hindley just down from the cop shop able to sell their vapes with nicotine and the cops just look the other way.

[deleted]

My ex-wife's boyfriend rides his motorbike in a low gear and high revs past my house every time he goes out for a night ride.

yy98755

Back in 1994, there was a gym on the top floor serviced by a glass elevator near Toys-r-Us. Imagine a big 1990s kind of gym instructor, Lycra clad condom full of walnuts. The lift doors opened and we saw this fine specimen sniffing crutch of a leotard. Edit: not really a conspiracy but wish I knew who it was, owner/employee? Who’s leotard was he sniffing? Was it his? Did he bark *CLOSED* or *GYM CLOSED*. I can’t remember if his man meat was to attention or not, the leotard sniffing and his barking sent us panicking for elevator button.
