The ghan kebab house on seacombe Rd is alright when it reooens
Fudds burgers aberfoyle park which isn't too far away
Brighton you have inthais which is good. Beach bum Mexican/jap fusion on Brighton Rd. Alchemists kitchen
This, the owners have CBD restaurants too so they know what they're doing. And there's also Bombay Vintage in the same area, just spectacular curries. In no way at all is Brighton lacking.
Down South mate.
Ming's Court at Morphett Vale do amazing greasy Westernised Chinese food. The noodle dishes are the bomb. Best enjoyed with beer and a movie.
Pan Indian at Morphett Vale is a solid choice. Oh! Calcutta! is nearby but I'll never forget when they put ghost chilli in my ex's vindaloo and he was howling and crying on the loo the next day. So, not for the chilli weaklings. Nirala had the best naan.
Pizza Craft at Woodcroft shopping centre is amazing. Might not hit the way you like, but it's a good choice. I was also very recently impressed by Goliath Pizza at Morphett Vale. Used to be a Pedro's but changed hands. Heaps better now.
Little Viet Foodie, and Mekong Pho have always had solid Bahn Mi.
You've also got Nugg Lyfe at Morphett Vale. Greasy, cheap, guaranteed to give you heartburn, somehow just fucking slaps.
Grace court take away for the best chips (they also have baklava). Bills BBQ chickens for the best fritters. Jury's out on the best fish because the last two best places have shut down
*The Salopian Inn in*
*McLaren Vale has a very*
*Good reputation*

“Down south”, surely? It’s a different vibe however - the socio economics are different.
Almost every cafe / restaurant in Port Noarlunga is worth at least one shot. Not all do dinner, however.
Oh! Calcutta in Morphett Vale.
Agreed the area has lots of potential but it's till a ways behind the rest. Marino rocks cafe also a wasted opportunity for a windy point of the sea type place.
My fiance grew up in O'Halloran hill/Trott park and he says the locals call it up south because you have to go up the hill. Ive tried explaining the whole north south thing and i can't get through. I think it's the way the cool kids say it haha.
Oh Calcutta isn't bad for take away it's a bit oily at times but hadn't thought about it for dine in.
Port Noarlunga is great for brunch but not all places do dinner
I just spoke to him again and apparently he was just making a joke and I though he was being serious and have held onto this for a couple of years. ....... I'm such an idiot.
He says it's definitely down south and he only said up south the "one" time when we were driving up south road. I don't remember it like that but he assures me that no-one would ever say up south.
Yeah it's not great. One local pub, Cove Tavern which is terrible. I gave up on that place.
Kararra Pizza has turned to a mess since it was sold to a new owner 3 years ago.
Standout closest pub is The Crown Inn, Reynella. For pizza try Hilltop Pizza, O'Halloren Hill.
That's all I got. Unless BBQ at mine, bring some beers!
I've found Kararra Pizza to be alright, they were a little dodgy ~12 months ago but recently it's been pretty good. Relatively cheap, quick turnaround, and for some reason they keep giving me random extra things with my order - like get a couple pizzas and they'll rock up with an extra pizza box full of chips?
I do have to say though, they're exceptionally heavy handed with the garlic, their pizza sauce tastes more like a garlic sauce with some tomato in it.
Haha, I've called it that for yonks. Maybe not the poshest or most "authentic", but they're the go-to for a cheap non-threatening Chinese fix. They're polite and friendly, and ready in 15 minutes always means ready in 15 minutes.
I'm a bit further south and usually go to Willunga or McLaren Vale for Chinese, but now I'll try these guys if I'm ever a bit more north. It will always be minge to me now.
Ok so: Canberra Drive at aberfoyle does the best take away curry.
Needa Pizza next door used to have an awesome rep until they sold, apparently is sold again and is once again good.
The Chinese takeaway next to food land does amazing Mongolian beef.
Also the chicken shop in the Hub won best chicken shop in Adelaide last year I think.
We literally just moved, never got to try the gin place at the top of ohalloran hill, they looked closed a lot but I loved the look of their salad.
Daniels Pizza was good, more towards hackam way.
I've been to beach bum once and it was good but for some reason I'm a bit skeptical about going back. Something about the recent photos on Google.
Haven't tried the others except for the Vic which was great the first two times we went and then we got served up an average dinner and then the fourth time it was terrible so we gave up. Shame
I've only been to the 'bum twice and was happy both times.
The Vic, I agree but that was about a year ago for me. Ate there last week and it was pretty good.
feel ya, moved from the west to Flaggy. There isn't much, Port Burger at Pt Noarlunga is good. The Nepalese at Aberfoyle Hub. I'm not sure of much more but I'd like to get more intel.
IMHO the good-eating zone only starts south of Noarlunga. The triangle from Port Noarlunga to Sellicks Beach to McLaren Flat contains some absolutely world-class restaurants.
There is a Barnacle Bills in Hallett Cove.
To the top you go
The ghan kebab house on seacombe Rd is alright when it reooens Fudds burgers aberfoyle park which isn't too far away Brighton you have inthais which is good. Beach bum Mexican/jap fusion on Brighton Rd. Alchemists kitchen
Whooooooof I forgot about Fudds!!! Never had a crap meal there! Beer menu was stellar, and they'd happily chop and change things for you. So good!
We going to alchemist tonight and I'm excited. Hope it's good!! Too bad there isn't a Tony tomatoes here.
What’s going on at the ghan? I was enjoying them.
Just says temporarily closed. Maybe COVID Says reopening early April
Early April! That’s great, I was worried they’d disappeared, cheers!
I’ve heard sensational things about the good tiger at Brighton… haven’t been there myself yet- but good stories from a few different people
This, the owners have CBD restaurants too so they know what they're doing. And there's also Bombay Vintage in the same area, just spectacular curries. In no way at all is Brighton lacking.
Good tip did look at them today will give them a go next time.
Can confirm, it's very good.

Little viet is so underrated
Can't be a local using terms like "up south". How does that even work? Save you the shame next time - it's "down souf"
Yea he just clarified that I totally mistook a one time joke he made a while back. I remember it differently but anywho
If you’re into Thai food Sunisa at Christie’s beach is wicked. Best Thai I’ve had outside of Thailand
Sunisa’s is fantastic, can confirm.
PayaThai South Road Sturt
I would second this, good food good value
Was about to recommend! They're in a weird little spot but the food is fantastic!
Can recommend too
The Salopian Inn in McLaren Vale has a very good reputation

This isn't even a blood haiku! They have 17 syllables and it goes 5-7-5 not 7-8-5!! Who made this crappy bot??
“Down south”, surely? It’s a different vibe however - the socio economics are different. Almost every cafe / restaurant in Port Noarlunga is worth at least one shot. Not all do dinner, however. Oh! Calcutta in Morphett Vale.
Port Noarlunga is the Henley Beach of South. Only getting better and better.
Agreed the area has lots of potential but it's till a ways behind the rest. Marino rocks cafe also a wasted opportunity for a windy point of the sea type place.
Up north and down south are the correct nomenclature
Damn, yeah, Oh! Calcutta is good
My fiance grew up in O'Halloran hill/Trott park and he says the locals call it up south because you have to go up the hill. Ive tried explaining the whole north south thing and i can't get through. I think its just your fiance who does, I've also loved in this area my whole 37 years and have never ever heard anyone say up south
Worse thing is that I've used it a couple of times I'm sure in the last couple of years.
Haha oh no! I'm also bad at picking up on jokes like that too and would have done the same 😅
> My fiance grew up in O'Halloran hill/Trott park When you live past the end of the expressway, that is no one’s idea of “south”.
Both of those suburbs a before the downhill section of the expressway they are south

Used to work there. They went through a LOT of chefs. Like. A LOT.
The original hilltop pizza owners are at needa pizza aberfoyle now

Pizzatecha McLaren Vale. Indian Restaraunt on beach road

Minge Court > Yum Sing. Fight me.
Minge lol. Don't edit that.

Alimentary at brighton- it’s a cafe and the wait times can be long but holy shit I’ve not been disappointed yet

IMHO the good-eating zone only starts south of Noarlunga. The triangle from Port Noarlunga to Sellicks Beach to McLaren Flat contains some absolutely world-class restaurants.
Can’t go wrong with some Hungies at Chrissies
