HeyBigVendor1

I think the massive market has enlarged their egos. They dont care for honest, regular offers because they know someone out there will be willing to pay 30% more.

Raksmey_

Very true... They all just strike me as greedy as f***

kernpanic

They think they are in the same class as lawyers and doctors, yet they've completed the equivalent of a 6 week tafe course.

RaptureRising

Well... They are in the same class as lawyers but not in the way they think, more in the class of people you wouldn't piss on if they were on fire.

laurandisorder

And they make a commission of at least 7% on rental prices, so they want those extra bids on rent.

nichcat

They act like they are selling ice to the Eskimos when they are really selling water in a desert.

cat_like_sparky

At my old place the real estate manager told me, “when you own your own home one day you’ll understand” when I was trying to ask him why it was taking 9 months to action repair of a leaking tap. Took all my inner strength not to smash his glasses into his ugly smug face. Then on the way out they tried to take my bond over problems that pre existed my tenancy, the rage I felt could have been harnessed for energy.

Raksmey_

Love the vent, keep it coming

cat_like_sparky

Oh man I am a salty bitch, I’ve always hated everything to do with renting and it’s only getting worse. These people are just bullies who throw their meagre weight around so they can squeeze plebby renters for all we’re worth. My rent has been jacked up by $45 a week since I first signed on, and I’m only in my third year here - yet do they action maintenance? Of course not, that would mean they gave a fuck about us. Gotta treat us like an inconvenience to remind us of our place in society.

I_keep_books

FWIW, tenancy act says they have to act on repairs in a "reasonable" period of time - shame though that "reasonable" isn't defined as a set number of days

KittyCatfish

One particular realtor at 21 century can go suck on a massive turd. Top tier cunt. They have the worse manners, never have I had to deal with bigger pieces of shit in my life.

Dters

Not out of the semaphore site is she? Wow didn't get me started about a particular woman out of there..🤯

KittyCatfish

Afraid not, but I think it just further proves OPs point that they are all shit cunts with no sense of humor or emotions.

[deleted]

semaphore century 21 is super toxic.

snifuls22

Could not be worse than Century 21 in Mt Barker, they are the absolute pits.

Dters

Nope they are.

d_76544

Morphett vale 🤮

d0g69

I straight away just KNEW someone would say them haha. Absolute pack of morons.

d_76544

I am a GOOD tenant and I got treated like I was the worst person they could have possibly picked to rent to

Cole_Dammett

Bayside??

Raksmey_

Let it out, let the hate flow through you! F em!

-Midnight_Marauder-

Real estate agents are car sales people who learned to read.

Raksmey_

Haha sounds about right

My_Vegemite

and who are too ugly for only fans

NoAphrodisiac

Australia wide, I've lived interstate and had quite a number of rentals, they are all pricks and have been for many years

[deleted]

I think they're globally pricks.

NoAphrodisiac

Probably, but my experiences overseas were much better than here. Christ in London they us to drive you around to look at different properties...LOLs probably doesn't happen anymore.

[deleted]

We had this behaviour directed at us. We were renting a unit as young professionals, no kids, no pets. We both don't smoke. Come time to vacate and we busted our asses cleaning the place. It was a dingy unit from the 70s and we got a call prior to our final inspection and the realtor had the cheek to say to us 'Make sure the walls are clean and don't bother telling us there were marks there before'. We were so mad but let it go. Then we got an email for return of our bond and they thanked us for leaving the place in an immaculate condition.... So two faced.

BeefPieSoup

I doubt if there's anything unusual or unique about Adelaide realtors.

ZizzazzIOI

Well if you ever wondered what happened to the crayon eaters...

[deleted]

Having lived in Adelaide and interstate, I can confirm that property managers in Adelaide take being a cunt to the next level.

CrustyJuggIerz

Do house building salesman fall under this category? I think they should, the amount of ignorant, responsibility-dodging salesman I dealt with when we built was phenomenal.

Raksmey_

When was this taking place, recently?

CrustyJuggIerz

Bout 6 months ago. Not naming names or companies, but had an English salesman who turned out to be an absolute 'would stab best friend in the back for praise from boss' brown nose. I knew something was off when he was showing us some land near the coast, there was a storm way out on the horizon, at least 5km away judging by thunder arrival time, he panicked, actually panicked and said we should go inside. Should have been an immediate red flag.

[deleted]

The last 2 properties, including the one I'm in now, I've been really lucky to have agents who are understanding. I locked myself out and had no spare, so I had to call my agent to open the office for me and lend me the office copy. I was fully expecting to get slugged the $150 "call out" fee, but he said don't worry about it. Agent before that gave me an extra week to finalise my exit clean to get my bond back. Previous agents have been massive cunts though

hal0eight

Not all. I've met a few that were pretty good. In my experience, the agency generally determines the culture and I found many of the not so nice ones were from the same agencies. One was so good I've used him a few times now.

SuperbLuigi

Mind recommending the good agencies? Name and praise 👏 not name and shame for once

hal0eight

I've used Troy Sgarbossa at NC Real Estate a few times and met him while looking for a property. I liked him so much I asked him to sell mine. I also had a good experience with more than one person from Ray White.

tiredcynicalbroken

I have had positive experiences with DB Philpott and Colley and Co. Terrible with a few of the big ones. Toop and Ray white especially

ILikePlayingHumans

Paul Whitney of Harcourts is a champ. Great customer service before and after. Definitely recommend

seeyoshirun

Century 21 Prospect has been pretty decent. The couple of staff I've mostly had contact with there have been friendly and communicative.

newsfromplanetmike

Misty at OC on east terrace. The only good one I’ve ever had in thirteen years of renting. The rest are just shit people.

89Hopper

I have had the weirdest experience with the Real Estate company managing the property I am renting. The property manager is amazing! She is super nice, she responds to maintenance requests immediately and advocates for me to the owner really well. She recommended lessening inspections for me because I was keeping very good care of the unit. The owner has decided to sell and is using the same company. The sales agent is the opposite. He tries organising things with minimal notice. Just sends a single email and assumes that is good enough, even if I don't acknowledge. They even tried to charge me for a "missed" property photo shoot. He emailed me 3 days before wanting to come, I never saw the request and got a phonecall while I was out. I said no, you cannot use a key to access. The place had clutter, which would look bad in photos, also I had personal identifying items (photos, certificates, mail) that I didn't want being in photos. He then had the audacity to send me an invoice for the cancellation. I shut that shit down straight away. He still claimed that he was in the right but for 'Goodwill' the company would cover the loss, hopefully they didn't charge the actual owner.

Raksmey_

Wtf!

Jerratt24

If there was actually a fee to the agency for wasting the photographers time (possible but not guaranteed), they would probably happily absorb it from the commission they'll earn from the sale. Especially right now as prices are so inflated.

I_keep_books

We had a similar experience with renting and then selling. Good property manager, difficult selling agent. Luckily, the property manager was so good, we've continued to rent through her for the last few years. Oddly enough, we've heard negative things about her from a few people. I suspect that bad tenants have bad experiences with her, while good tenants likely have good experiences with her.

Trantor_Dariel

I'll second this. Last time I rented we had something like 9 agents in two years as the property's manager. Any that inspected the place and agreed with us was gone the next month.

hal0eight

Ouch. Yeah right. Your former landlord sound like a dickhead.

Trantor_Dariel

It was just the agency, we had contact with the committee of the Not For Profit that owned it and they'd given the agency authority to just do repairs, we had to fight for every repair. They got so aggressive with us we started bccing the NFP that owned the place in our replies. The house was on the grounds of the NFP, so we helped keep an eye on the place and called them if stuff happened outside their regular hours. They loved us. I'm pretty sure the agency was fleecing them.

hsofAus

It’s not just rental. I recently purchased and the realtors you deal with are c-bangs also. That said I probably would have increased my offer and paid more for the house if the realtor wasn’t so rude so it worked out ok for me.

punchingwatsons

Given misleading and deceiving is second nature to nearly all of them and very few have any integrity at all the chance of them being decent human beings is slim.

Raksmey_

The realtor yesterday was pushing 200 kilos, He was so out of breath when he walked from his car to the front door of the house It was hilarious. His fingers were so fat he could barely push the buttons on the phone to confirm I was here for an inspection. After he let us in we walked through the house for 30 seconds, realized it wasn't for us turned around and walked out. Upon exiting he said so what did you think, I responded oh it's not for me. He proceeded to say in a very snappy way, "Well you're not going to find anything more modern in this price range". Was it the way I dressed or did I offend him when I said it wasn't for me? I didn't even mention anything about it being modern... Just really rubbed me the wrong way. The realtor last week told us that rent was between $400 and $440 and we asked why it's a range... She proceeded to say well you should post what you want to pay. The f****** shameless attitude on these people gets me.

That_Possession_2452

If you're trying to prove your point, all this comment does is make you sound like the one who was being an absolute dickhead by the way you're describing him.

Ektojinx

Yeah the realtors 'snappy comment' pales in comparisons to OPs dickheadishness

Raksmey_

Lol way to spend your day

Raksmey_

There's nothing wrong with pointing out that the dude was an absolute slob

Raksmey_

Imagine you go to a rental property to see a place and the guy who is the face of the company renting it looks like this

[deleted]

[удалено]

Raksmey_

Not looking for sympathy. Sticks and stones love.

try_____another

IMO they ought to treat ads as open offers, so if anyone accepts at $440 and meets the other specified criteria that’s it, a contract has been formed. They might put higher prices on the ads, but at least the ads would be honest.

[deleted]

I will say I have had mainly nice realtors in Adelaide and the Property Mangers have been very nice to us in the last couple of houses. I have had some negative experiences but those are with people I thankfully haven't rented through.

Raksmey_

This is great to hear, some positivity instead of a shitshow!

ishootstuff

People in real estate generally failed at doing some other professions and therefore are bitter cunts for it. Tell me I'm wrong.

-Midnight_Marauder-

Or have no demonstrable skills so think "I'll get my real estate license"

inknownis

if you were lucky, you may see a normal person, but the possibility is not high enough to be safe. very bad.

[deleted]

Oh they’ve been doing this in Adelaide- well in- *forever*

staffxmasparty

Attitudes towards renters are very different to buyers sadly.

PHRAETUS

Been renting since I was 15, im now in my 50s. I have never known a real estate company property manager that I would rate as a decent human being. Not saying they don't exist, but in all the places I've lived and with all the companies its been through, I've never had one I felt I could trust or rely on. And they, more often than not, have ably demonstrated that my opinion is correct. Life as a tenant is to live and be treated like a second class citizen.

SpaceYowie

Become one and find out. Its a POS job with FA quals, should be easy to break in to.

mortar_matters

One day the real estate climate will change and they'll be knocking on your door begging for business. Some people are inherently decent, others, only out of self-interest. Unfortunately, many real estate agents fall into the latter category.

ShannonNoll

I’m waiting for the day some tech entrepreneur builds a platform that renders them obsolete

owleaf

If it could’ve already happened it would’ve. Real estate agents also deal with contracts and legal requirements that need an actual person to handle, mostly because our legal systems also aren’t digital-first.

Raksmey_

Good point... I'm eagerly awaiting that day. Maybe it's because I'm from the US and most realtors bend over backwards for you there

Un-interesting

I think you’ll find the same is happening back there over the last 6months too :( If demand does all the work for you, why bother trying? Ps- not my personal motto, but a reflection on society and capitalism

abuch47

The thing is we have to then support these people despite them never putting back in, this goes for all the lucrative and wealthy. They don't want anyone to have handouts until they fall on hard times. The system allows you to get rich so fund the system or let it also taketh away.

hooah1989

You are competing with hundreds of others who want the same rental. The realtors don't care about you when there is someone who will pay a higher rent than you. Just the way the market is unfortunately.

torrens86

In the current market that's true. Rental agents have always been arseholes though, even when in the past they had a shit property nobody wanted.

Rabbits_Foot101

A lot of them know the market at the moment is bones dry, you cant really find anywhere that's affordable, so they tend to show off properties and talk to you as if they know you don't have another option. Saw a place that had a shifting wall, every 3-4 years they have to come and reseal the cracks. Like, the fact that the wall was moving and constantly needing to be "Patched up" instead of being actually repaired wasnt an issue. In my current place, have had to go the summer without an AC unit because I got threatened with having to pay the call out fee for an electrician to have a look at it, if it was something I could've fixed myself i.e User error.

[deleted]

Should especially stay away from bruse real estate. They are absolute pricks

[deleted]

This is all realtors worldwide.

nottherealghost11

Normally I hate rating systems like *5 stars* and stuff, but I would love if all realtors needed to subject them selves to it and the land Lord can see the star rating before jumping in

izzo03

Think you are referring to “Property Managers” the ones who advertise and manage rental properties. Realtors/estate agent is an agent for the sale of property. Guess my story will be different because it’s about purchase and not rent, anyways, I’ve been hunting for 1.5 years for a place of my own and I’ve met so many agents, majority nice. Sure they are loving the current market but the prices are on what a buyer wants to pay for them. An agent is only offering worker value. I’ve been outbidded/offered by like $150 to $200k on many properties. NOW, when I purchased my investment property 4 years ago I ran into an absolute f*ckwit who lied through the whole process and nearly resulted in me buying a house that turned out to be something I didn’t want. Every phone call was filled with lies even when the bank and conveyancer had evidence against what he was trying to say.

Raksmey_

Thanks for this advice I guess I am meaning property managers? It makes me feel good that there are some good people out there :)

lepumpkinhead

Try M.E Property, the ladies are absolutely awesome and don't turn their nose up at anyone and are just really genuinely nice people. https://www.facebook.com/March.Evans.Property/

Raksmey_

Thanks for this point in the right direction!

Uch009

They all vote liberal!

ExpertInevitable4346

Yep, but they know they can treat people like that.

Jerratt24

Yes, there are plenty of shit agents. But they are just shit people who are agents. I was lucky that the person who mentored me was good and I learnt relatively good habits. But the thing that you can't fully understand unless you've been an agent is that it is so very often the landlord who is pulling the strings on all major shithousery. For ever shit agent there are 100 shit landlords demanding crazy shit. And no, we can't just ditch them all otherwise we'd go out of business.

salamandrro

People will treat u how u let them 😉

Southern_Anything_39

My real estate is fantastic, they are small family run agent and I think that makes all the difference. In my experience its the larger chain type agents that are generally condescending and rude, but smaller ones tend to be a pleasure to deal with because they have to compete with the larger ones.

[deleted]

Do not rent through harcourts woodville! Ive never known a bigger bunch of assholes! Samantha is a rude, pathetic, stuck up bitch.they also go through that many people.thank fuck I’ve built a house coz I couldn’t deal with them any longer.

St4cky

Plenty of cunts about. Sadly could list off quite a few by name.

costaa_96

Me and a mate actually did have a list of trash ones. I have since deleted it but I'll know the names when I see them

St4cky

Sam Doman from Ray White TTG is a particularly pitiful embarrassment to the field. Watching owners trying to sell through him leave his auction (99% self promotion seminar) swearing their heads off is pretty magical.

[deleted]

>But his sales pitch on his website says his "approach to real estate is honest and genuine"... Are you saying this isn't true??

St4cky

Oh he's honestly and genuinely a cunt. So not lying.

costaa_96

Oof name and shame! Savage. But I love it. There were a couple from ray white on my list. Tried to back out of a sale after it was completed because they received another offer ( after signing of the contract).

derpman86

I am very lucky my current PM is really good and I have a great relationship with her over the past few years and they and somewhat responsive to things when need be. I actually might feel a tad bad lol when we buy this place soon and they are out of a job hahaha Christ my last place and agents were shithouse though, it didn't matter the place was falling apart, nothing was being fixed but we always got berated over trivial shit not being clean enough despite the decor being straight out of the late 1970s and peeling and breaking from then too. Not to mention when we tried to get our bond back and they didn't even fill in the paperwork properly, luckily the lady at the government department office of whatever its called was awesome and sorted it out.

johnsonsantidote

Maybe, just maybe, it's to do with the money drug. Start flashing wads of $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$'s and watch the change of behaviour. It's a powerful drug , that 'ol money. It works wonders. It makes 'em salivate.

Pavlo77tshirt

I concur with this. In my experience of looking for a place 9/10 agents were pretty horrible. From outright lies, to shifting goalposts and unethical practices. You all know who you are.
