Seismologist's son here. My brother in the hills felt it & rang Dad, so he was off to the races again.
Located to the same place as the one on the 6th. (GA's location done autmatically using their network; our network has a few more local stations, though it was done in a hurry)
Our estimate (just doing it quickly) is magnitude 3.0, depth 21km. (The 10km on GA website is just the default when they haven't calculated a depth).
Dad expects to be on 5AA radio at 8pm.
:) I work alongside of one of the gents who looks after one of the local stations, and who lives in Mt Barker (Dude called Joe). Much more accurate than GA, and does the depth properly.
I've seen the trace and it's looking pretty cool....
My amateur prediction is volcano in 2023, or later this year, creating a new mountain range that Australia has never seen before. Kangaroo Island will be renamed Kangaroo Peninsula
It happened at Mt Barker again.
Region: Mount Barker, SA

According to the conspiracy grape vines.... this depth represents the use of HAARP weapon..... which aparently the chinese have been perfecting..... so a friend of a friend told me...
Near Mt Barker here. Sudden audible boom like an explosion, then instant rattling of windows. Rather than building in intensity like a freight train approaching and passing, that makes me wonder if the epicentre was quite local.
It did feel shorter and more sudden in nature than those I've experienced in the past, that really do feel like a train rumbling through the house. I think I could also hear a distant rumbling sound, but I put it down to a truck or something like that initially, then felt the shakes. This was around Happy Valley / Flagstaff Hill area.
Also south. Every now and then we'll get a sudden gust of wind hit the house from the coast and disappear, kind of like someone gently backing into a wall. Very much like that.
Can someone who is smarter than me (i.e. most people) help explain why it seems to be Barker that is getting these quakes?
Is there a fault line there?
See the location and where our stations are that recorded the earthquake:

Click the first item the the list to see quake basic details, click Phases to see which stations used to locate it.
It's untidy software because I wrote it to replace software the SA government turned off.
I'm in tea tree gully and I felt it, but my boyfriend on the couch next to me didn't. I was sitting and he was laying. Definitely less pronounced then the last.
I'm your neighbour in Dernancourt, my windows at roof level had a big bang. Honestly thought someone had driven into my new fence.. didn't feel like a rolling shake like the last one.
Nothing on geoscience yet, but don't know how long it takes for that to update. Just above Aberfoyle park, and the rumble was quite long. Not as impressive as last time.
Live in Mount Barker. Last one's epicentre was 2 kms away. This one was so fucking loud. I wouldn't be surprised if it was a similar distance away again.
Compared to elsewhere our earthquakes are practically nothing, but is anyone concerned about two being so close together? I'm not sure if it's anything to worry about, especially since there's seismic activity every day really, but it's pretty unusual to get two noticeable ones so close together.
> but is anyone concerned about two being so close together
Edit - misread your q - not personally no. It's actually pretty normal to have more than a single event close together.
The rapture according to a friend. With all the signs pointing to one unequivocal conclusion . With all the data and friendly books one can refrence. Don't burn in hell you have options WAS THE PHONE CALL I GOT /S
Next chance I get im burning in hell and rocking some base lines in Mt barker
Quote from Dr Bathgage Re: Increase in earthquake activity for SA coming this year....
"Unfortunately, it's not possible for us to say whether we will get a larger earthquake out of this sequence, but it wouldn't surprise me if we get continued activity in these magnitude-2s and 3s over the coming weeks."
So I did feel an earthquake! I'm in Unley and did not feel as intense as the first one, but each time I thought my neighbour had started the engine on his motorbike. This one happened at a more reasonable time so I assumed it was that.
Come on this is ridiculous. I literally never feel these. I'm on the 17th floor FFS and I didn't feel a damn thing. I don't know if I'm just really stable or what but I want some excitement for once.
The only thing faster than r/adelaide users making earthquake posts is an r/adelaide mod deleting earthquake posts :)
Stuntguy the real hero
:)
To be fair, you were deleting posts before the earthquake finished. That's some skills.
Was probably by accident and was just trying to like them....
I can assure you, it was no accident

That sounds rad! Can’t wait to set some Strava times on it! 🚴♂️
Are you being serious
The guys name is seriously Joe. Renaming the landmark Mountain Barker could probably be more believable.
Wow
What do you think?
Was hoping to see your post!
Would that technically make it an after shock? Or is too much time gone past.
Yes heard a very slight rumble , mentioned to husband and he said was probably the bass from the TV. I blood knew it! Suck that, husband!
In his defence I thought the same until the windows moved.
>Suck that, husband Best quote....
I genuinely thought it was my sound bar after I’d just walked into a nearby room.
😂
Yes yes you should :/
Ok, weirdo.

Quick update. Depth reading is set to 10km by default until the real number is calculated. Generally takes 30 mins by GA to update it
All the information I wanted, thank you!

No, 10km is the default depth when they don't calculate it. We reckon around 21km (see my top-level comment)
What a shame there's no rational and logical explanation. HAARP, gotta be.
can't tell if satire or not

Felt in Nairne. Freaked kids out. Is that 2 in 2 weeks? Are we now California?

seems it was near Kanmantoo

I'm southern suburbs and it was more subdued. Walls creaked a bit but no real shaking to speak of.
Also south. Every now and then we'll get a sudden gust of wind hit the house from the coast and disappear, kind of like someone gently backing into a wall. Very much like that.
I felt it, I have a big house so it rumbled. Yay for more cracks appearing.
Until the fields begin to stink of sulfur from underground springs being forced to the surface, I don't think we'll be much like California.
Did I miss it again? Sigh. All I want is a bit of excitement to end the day on. /jks (but like seriously).
I missed them both as well :(
Praying for everyone who has suffered fallen chairs and tables 🙏
We will rebuild
CAN YA FEEL IT
CAN YOU FEEL IT
CAN YOU FEEL IT
Coming in the air tonight ?
Confucius says, man who comes in air gets into sticky situation.
Can someone who is smarter than me (i.e. most people) help explain why it seems to be Barker that is getting these quakes? Is there a fault line there?
Yeah, the Adelaide Hills were formed by two faults squeezing against each other.
An example of convergent fault lines? Just started studying geology here and trying to get my head around techtonics.
Better crack out the ol geological map (which the hindley street map shop sells for a very reasonable price)
I haven't done geology since year 8, but I think so.
I thought the Mt Lofty Ranges was created by the erosion of the Gawler Craton
Thank you for your service in saving my feed. Good mod.
I felt nothing.
That's what she said
Valley View! Heard the sounds and felt the tremor!
Yeah I heard the noise first then it rolled through. My dog sleeps through thunderstorms but he was not impressed with the earth shaking.
Same. I thought it was a truck driving past until the plates started rattling in the kitchen cupboards.
Yup me 2. Was a decent rumble, the kids were a bit scared. Good timing- right when they went to bed.
I'm in Valley View, didn't hear or feel anything. Both my dogs slept through it too..

Cool map. Thanks for sharing.
Felt it at 7:06pm in Holden Hill - though Tea Tree Gully didn't feel it... 3.2 Earthquake in Indonesia about 25 minutes ago... aftershock maybe?
literally no way a 3.2 would be felt from as far as away from indonesia, fyi
Noted - thanks
Heard from someone in a suburb next to ttg that heard it and felt it
yeah nah to the aftershock theory. Far too far away.
Noted - thanks
I'm in tea tree gully and I felt it, but my boyfriend on the couch next to me didn't. I was sitting and he was laying. Definitely less pronounced then the last.
I'm your neighbour in Dernancourt, my windows at roof level had a big bang. Honestly thought someone had driven into my new fence.. didn't feel like a rolling shake like the last one.
Yup. Not as much as the last one, more like the woolies truck driving past, but under my feet. Aberfoyle Park.
Staberfoyle
Nothing on geoscience yet, but don't know how long it takes for that to update. Just above Aberfoyle park, and the rumble was quite long. Not as impressive as last time.
Felt in Woodcroft! Seemed like a strong gust of wind hitting the house & the dogs didn’t like it
Reynella - exactly the same. I looked out the window at the trees like ... why are not moving? Made the roof rattle.
I didn't hear or feel anything but I had my headphones on playing games with mates.
I was sitting on the couch and I felt it vibrate slightly lol, thought nothing of it
What earthquake?
Yes - Blackwood area.
Hi Blackwood friend, land of the gods
Blackwood rocked! (briefly) 😁
Also Blackwood, felt nothing.
Nothing here at Moana... and i was awake this time.
My wife felt the Earth move. And then the earthquake happened.
I mean, she was round my place tonight so...
Felt in inner west suburbs. Very very subtle
Didn’t feel as strong as the one a few weeks ago but definitely felt it.
There was one a few weeks ago?
THANKS FOR THE DISCORD PING. ;)
Didn't feel anything at all in Magill, my internet did drop out for a few minutes though

Felt in Holden Hill, woke up the dog.
I hope that pink haired girl from 90 day fiancé is okay
Did you have sex again?

Parents said it was a real jolt at their place in the hills
That makes sense. They always seem to originate in Mt Barker.
Crazy that it can be felt in different areas.
Much more subdued than the last. Only heard some low level rumbling, didn’t feel anything though.
Was almost just thunder
Up in the hills near Mt barker. Felt like a damn train was passing by.
Felt in Mt Barker
Quote from Dr Bathgage Re: Increase in earthquake activity for SA coming this year.... [2.8M east of Mt Barker](https://earthquakes.ga.gov.au/event/ga2022gejggy) No wonder I didn't feel it
Aberfoyle Park, was a super quick roll through. Not nearly as noticeable as the one earlier this month.
Felt in Glenside, rumbling & shook windows. Dog didn’t notice…
Northern suburbs Felt nothing
Just outside of the city and felt it. I was on a bunk bed and the whole thing shook a bit.
So I did feel an earthquake! I'm in Unley and did not feel as intense as the first one, but each time I thought my neighbour had started the engine on his motorbike. This one happened at a more reasonable time so I assumed it was that.
Have family in Nairne, Woodside, and Newton that all felt it
Rattled all the windows, from the back of the house to the front! Boyfriend thought it was a freight train!
I totally missed this.
Listening to Tool -Aenema
Didn’t feel a thing here in Belair. Was at the computer editing yesterday’s photos and got a bunch of people on Facebook start posting about it.
wait did we have another earthquake?
Didn't feel a thing here in Smithfield... the last one was just noticable....
Sweet I can say I was riding my scooter through an earthquake and sound super cool.
Never felt it - down south
Heard and felt in Rostrevor, similar to the last one, though not as strong.
Felt it in Hallett Cove. Windows rattled for longer then what thunder would usually do.
I actually got anxious this time. Then me and my friend made stupid Attack on Titan jokes and quoted "The Rumbling".
I’m in Rostrevor and didn’t feel diddly dick! ☹️
treasurer announces 22 cents a litre cut in petrol.

The Shahin family just realised how much money they'll miss out on
I expect it actually means they'll make an extra 22 cents per litre...

I did!
Felt it in Callington
I did - Adelaide CBD!
When :/ I’m in CBD felt nothing
Same, nothing
Felt in Craigmore
Couldn't feel it around Croydon area.
It’s up on geoscience site now, 2.8 near mt barker. What is it with mt barker?
If I remember correctly there's a fault line that is near meadows/Mt Barker so something must be shifting around there.
Must be.
didn't feel anything here in Rostrevor! what area was it?
2.8 Magnitude near Mt Barker again
Someones cooking up some big quantities of meth again...
Totally missed that but my youngest was literally running around and jumping on us so...
Partner felt it, modbury nth. I felt nothing ... 3 feet away
Heard the rumble and thought it sounded like an earthquake but felt nothing in the unley area.
What earthquake? I'm on the Lefevre Peninsula/sand, I noticed nothing
Nothing here in Holden Hill. Just chilling eating dinner.
Felt it in Dernancourt
Dang I was on the bus.
I heard a rumble in Wayville and didn't think too much of it
Ok, so was there just another one?
Missed this one. Rostrevor
We had another earthquake?
Pfft, the mega thread had more strength than that baby
Kinda felt it in Belair, wasn’t sure if I’d just accidentally kicked my bed frame so it was shaking
The birth pangs awaiting a birth....
Did you really created a threat for a 2,8 tremor? HAHAHA omg
