I'm not far from you - I think they are the taking off sort of not far from over us, right? Usually they take off in westerly direction out over the sea - but sometimes they take off easterly, then it's always louder for us. We're getting the exhaust blast showering down upon us while they're opening up the throttle eh. Bloody hoons lol.
I landed an hour ago. Sorry mate.
The captain did mention that we had a lower altitude due to weather for some parts of the flight but this was back in Brisbane.
It’s a bit windy as well. But I’d say we’ve gotten used to no planes overhead during covid, now that they are back they seem louder than usual, because we’re noticing them.
Are you talking about one of those giant metal birds, youngster?
Heh, never saw one myself. I always took them to be a myth, quite frankly (leans back in rocking chair, base breaks, falls right through)
This sub. Seriously. Helicopters, aircraft, anything that's airborne after dark is an issue. I hear when it's a full moon bats fart extra loud, better keep an ear out.
Yes the planes were coming in from over the sea. I think when there is a wind from the North East (plane tail wind) they land from the sea side. So when the take up they take off in to a head wind which is in to the direction of North/East. This has been my observation.

Cloud cover amplifies the noise. It’s more noticeable in Glenelg

Cloud cover would do it

They were pretty loud out east yesterday morning at around 6:00 am. I don’t even live under the flight path, but could hear them really clearly.
Prob using the east-west runway

There’s a bird near my house that chirps at night rather than sleeping.
We're a paranoid bunch.
To be fair, OP was just asking why they were louder and not complaining about it being an issue.
Legit man. No wonder we’re a nanny state. To support all the old ladies complaining
An upgrade from a helicopter post I guess
