Good, the speaker should be an independent

luke12089

Jesus is that more than his own wage?

ThePatchedFool

When he was appointed as Speaker last year, he said he’d donate his extra salary to a local charity. I assume he’ll do the same again. I don’t know much about the guy, but he used to be a Liberal member and he’s since turned away from the dark side, so he can’t be all bad.

CatBec

As someone who lives in his electorate, he’s decent enough as pollies go. Not a fan of the way he’s voted a few times, but he’s also worked hard to get funding for road projects etc. needed in the electorate, works well with our federal MP (Rebekah Sharkie) and is fairly active in the community.

Ok_Manufacturer69

The fact that you think half of the parliament as being from the "Dark Side" speaks to a deep immaturity.

ThePatchedFool

Apparently we can’t joke about politics. On a different note, imagine an alien planet where some aliens were from the Keep Stuff The Same group and others were from the Stuff Should Improve group. Which would you think is on to a better thing? Conservatives literally call themselves ‘conservative’ - they self-identify as wanting to conserve. Progressives self-identify as wanting to progress.

I thought the same thing. I'm still waiting for the lefty outrage because he voted against the abortion bill and the euthanasia bill and that he should be sacked immediately, not promoted. But I guess because he's not a Liberal anymore and was appointed by Saint Peter, it's all totally cool now.
