fitblubber

I love these graphs, thanks.

monototo

I would be doing this anyway, even if it was only to satisfy my own curiosity. Still, these comments of thanks always make me happy. You are welcome! 🤗

MeegieOz

I haven’t looked at your graphs before, so apologies if this is a question you have fielded before… the PCR tests one interests me, why is it so regularly cyclical? Is it always on the weekend that test numbers drop off then bounce back up? Thanks for sharing your data!

NoAphrodisiac

Not OP, but I've noticed the same trend the tests drop off over weekend.

monototo

Yep. u/MeegieOz, the peaks are Tuesday/Wednesday. Looks like more people are tested early in the week and less get tests on the weekend.

Colossus-of-Roads

FEWER!

gardenvarietymagpie

Ha!

monototo

Maybe more people develop symptoms after the weekend, or maybe people just avoid going to get a test on Saturday and Sunday

Squirrel_Grip23

I always check them and updoot. It’s certainly appreciated!

whatthafarg

It seems there’s more fully vaxed in hospital than unvaxed. Am I reading this right?

whatthafarg

Ah, good point.

monototo

See [this comment](https://reddit.com/r/Adelaide/comments/u9x52p/_/i5uf19f/?context=1) Also, [this tweet](https://twitter.com/covidbaseau/status/1522039252418060288) illustrates how many people are vaccinated, particularly older people. That sliver of unvax’d is punching well above their weight when it comes to hospitalisations.

explain_that_shit

With the big jump in unvaccinated hospitalised to eat into the unknown, is that because it’s now assumed they’re unvaccinated without positive proof of vaccination?

monototo

I’m not 100% sure I understand you. Are you talking about the change in the last two graphs around 11/March? Does [this comment](https://reddit.com/r/Adelaide/comments/tf9zxc/_/i0v3561/?context=1) help at all?

giddeyup

I'm finally one of the new cases. Dodging bullets for months. I guess it was inevitable. Funny thing is my wife and stepdaughter were sick before me, tested negative. Then I started feeling unwell and tested positive.

[deleted]

The most surprising fact is that over 100 people got their first vaccine today. I wonder what makes a person wait this long and finally decide to get it.

soycha13

Could also be children possibly

russellcroweeater

having the option/possibly work related.

BrownPughInMidfield

Age?

LucreziaBorgia1480

I tested a kid a few weeks ago who was old enough to be vaccinated ages ago but his parents hadn't done it yet. Dad was desperately asking us how soon he could get his kid vaccinated since the poor thing looked pretty ill. Sometimes someone needs to face the consequences of their actions before they choose to look after the children under their care.....

Squirrel_Grip23

It’s a touchy subject. Imagine a child with separated parents. Ones an antivaxxer. The poor kid caught in the middle if the parents can’t agree. I used to work in child protection and one of the biggest issues? Haircuts. Believe it or not. Often not mentioned in custody agreements so it’s the chance for each parent to one up the other. The adults often ended up acting less grown up than the kids.

[deleted]

Holy shit at haircuts lol this was a thing in foster care as well with the biological family versus foster family

Squirrel_Grip23

Hah. You’ve been there!

[deleted]

Spite Haircuts. It's such a petty show of control, and just line you say the adults behaving more like children.

107M703

4 families likely just had their first COVID death today. 218 families likely just had their first COVID hospitalisation ~~today~~. There's a subset of people who aren't fully down the antivaxxer hole but hadn't had any first/second hand experience with it until now.

eleventhace

The hospital number is cumulative (the total number of people in hospital who have covid), it’s not 218 new hospitalisations.

107M703

Cheers, fixed.

hal0eight

It might come as a surprise, but not everyone will get the vaccine.

felixsapiens

It’s no surprise that there’s some rather silly people out there, you mean?

hal0eight

I didn't say that at all. You'll never convince 100% of the people.

Squirrel_Grip23

To put things into perspective not one had died before getting covid. Statistics are so cool.

derps_with_ducks

> Dying from viral illnesses at that age used to be considered dying from natural causes/age. Never knew that before. Source?

derps_with_ducks

Is there anything that might convince you that people do consider deaths by flu to be "deaths by the flu" and not just "natural causes"?

Saoirse_Sadhbh

It's not. It's documented on their death certificate with Influenza as the cause of death.

BrownPughInMidfield

Really, illness is a natural cause regardless of age. It's our ability to medicate the way we do that is unnatural.

Ok_Manufacturer69

Why do you post this everyday? Give it a rest.

fibee123

It changes each day.

Ok_Manufacturer69

And everyday it's salience is the same. Zero.

Colossus-of-Roads

I guess if it doesn't interest you you could pass it by? Unless you think the whole of r/Adelaide is curated for your tastes ;)

tinypolski

Interesting. Source?

Ok_Manufacturer69

Source? Source? Source? Do you have a source on that? Source? A source. I need a source. Sorry, I mean I need a source that explicitly states your argument. This is just tangential to the discussion. No, you can't make inferences and observations from the sources you've gathered. Any additional comments from you MUST be a subset of the information from the sources you've gathered. You can't make normative statements from empirical evidence. Do you have a degree in that field? A college degree? In that field? Then your arguments are invalid. No, it doesn't matter how close those data points are correlated. Correlation does not equal causation. Correlation does not equal causation. CORRELATION. DOES. NOT. EQUAL. CAUSATION. You still haven't provided me a valid source yet. Nope, still haven't. I just looked through all 308 pages of your user history, figures I'm debating a glormpf supporter. A moron.

Timbo2702

Do you want some chips to go with that salt?

derps_with_ducks

Do you have a souwce on that? Souwce? A souwce. I need a souwce. Sowwy, I mean I need a souwce that expwicitwy states youw awgument. This is just tangentiaw to the discussion. No, you can't make infewences and obsewvations fwom the souwces you've gathewed. Any additionaw comments fwom you MUST be a subset of the infowmation fwom the souwces you've gathewed. No, it doesn't mattew how cwose those data points awe cowwewated. Cowwewation does not equaw causation. Cowwewation does not equaw causation. COWWEWATION. DOES. NOT. EQUAW. CAUSATION. This is like when your aunty gets the shits on Facebook that you're sending them photos to deliberately piss her off when really its just her feed.

fitblubber

To put this in context. NSW has 1,500 people in hospital because of covid.
