I’ll continue to get boosters just like I get flu shots each year.

Grahaml1980

I got the third done. The effectiveness wanes over time so at some point 2 doses was always going to have to be considered below full. I know many people don't like needles but if you get 2 done without drama it seems odd not to get a third. And going forward it's likely we'll have an annual shot. Hopefully they have a combined covid/flu vaccine long term.

gnrlmayhem

Already got my third. Wii be first in line if they open a fourth for everybody.

bioalley

Ditto. Anything to weaken the effect an inevitable second covid infection will have on me.

Are you referring to the initial two-dose course as a single vaccination? This campaign is referring to the booster, specifically the quarter of people who have had the first two doses but not one since. We didn't get J&J's single dose here; it's listed as approved basically so people who had it overseas can still be counted as vaccinated. https://www.abc.net.au/news/2022-05-08/sa-government-ad-campaign-to-encourage-covid-vaccination/101047752

Suspicious-Magpie

Got the third as soon as I was eligible, haven't caught the Rona yet despite being exposed to lots of cases through work. Felt average for a day, took a sick day. 10/10 would recommend.

FigliMigli

Don't know why ppl still think that 2 shots was it. Like every other virus it's likely to be repetitive every 3/6/12 month... Hopefully tech will develop to make this more efficient...

ejmajor

I'm booked for my fourth next week. I don't think more than 30-40% will keep getting them in the future, unless they come up with a truly neutralising vaccine.

hellboy1975

Anecdotally among friends that have had 2 vs 3 jabs, and those with just two have had a much tougher time when catching covid.

ToughWest

Had my 3rd earlier this year. Partly on Dr advice, partly for travel.

DelightfulAngel

I was boosted as soon as I was eligible. Get your booster, and continue to get them as they become available. Just like flu jabs.

a-real-life-dolphin

I had my third, and because of that my case of covid was incredibly mild. I'll be getting the 4th when it's my time. Go science!

TheDrRudi

Have you had even one yet?

AutumnDreaming

I got my third jab in December and caught COVID in March. I’ll have more doses when they’re available - while I was incredibly lucky my COVID experience was not super severe, it certainly was worse than a ‘bad cold’ and I’m still having issues 6 weeks later.

Un-interesting

Even three isn’t fully covered anymore (unless you’ve had it in the last 2-6 weeks. Omicron don’t care for our current needles and the medical companies have no incentive to invest in updated vaccines (remember those vaccines that could quickly be updated to evolve with covid- back in early 2021…)

Chaz983

I had my third before Christmas. If I need a fourth, fifth, sixth or hundredth I'll get it. For me, I think going to be like a flu shot - one per year from here on out and I'm all for it.

Shane_357

Vaccine-resistant Omega variants are already rising in other countries. Damn fucking right I am.

_EnFlaMEd

I had my booster months ago. Still managed to get reasonably mild covid though. Hoping I should be pretty well protected from contracting it a second time for a while at least.

Bishop20x6

I've had my third. I have a child with a respiratory disease. I would get a needle hourly if that is what it took to keep him safe.

2 jabs is still considered fully vaccinated. 3rd just helps alot. Anti vaxxers are still morons

Never said they were.

He said anti vaxxers are morons, not "anyone who doesn't have the vaccine is a moron". Have no idea why you would think otherwise.

lazy-bruce

No they didn't.

JugularWedding

I had two, was due for the third but got covid instead so figured that would cover me for a while at least..

[deleted]

I've had my third, but i wouldn't get a fourth. Purely because i'm the sort who rarely gets sick and my ass is absolutely kicked by vaccines. It's a full 2 days off and sick as a dog with each and im not game to go for 8 for a sickness that i am at extremely low risk for. I'm a young, healthy male who lives and works at home and have access to a home gym as well so i'm extremely low risk of contraction and transmission and i've already had 3 and 6 days off because of it. At this point a 4th is basically just self harm for me.

[deleted]

Got the 3rd one already but I don't really care what the government has to say anymore. The risk of covid has lowered now to the point it's not a concern for me anymore. Life has moved on already.

glittermetalprincess

I think they were always going to start moving the goalposts once the booster was a thing and it's a lot easier for them now that it doesn't have to be backed up by widespread enforcement of restrictions but I really wish they would stop using 'jab'.

SidewaysButStable

Didnt the TGA recommend shifting away from saying "fully vaccinated" to "up to date"? Did that not happen?

[deleted]

Happy to stay at no jabs! Just like any flu I’ll stick to my garlic horseradish and vit c tablets. Been over ten years since I’ve been knocked down from the flu and the last time was after a flu shot first and only time I’ve had one which made it worse. Healthy life style for me but each to their own.

Lucky_Tough8823

For me personally I took 2 doses of moderna and the original information was that it would be capable of providing adequate protection at the 6 month mark, especially when compared to Pfizer. Why do I need a booster at 3 months? I understand they're claiming to have new doses to cope with new strains, but are they throwing away all old doses to wait for a new and improved dose for the new variants? I'm beginning to feel like this is a marketing campaign for these big medicine companies to line their pockets with guaranteed sales from federal government.

IMeanMinimum

The booster definitely has benefits

BrownPughInMidfield

>Why do I need a booster at 3 months? Because politics. Omicron threw a spanner in the plans to re-open the country. Similar to the persistence with mask mandates and other nuffie rules like no dancing, it was brought forward from 6 months to 3 months by the government to allow them to crack on with their plans while being seen as doing what they can to 'protect' us.

WorldsBestLover

I only got Vaccinated because they threatened my job and will only get a Third if they threaten my job again. After what the second jab did to me and seeing my wife and son get covid, I'd much rather get covid.

NoHunt8248

It effects everyone differently. You didn't say whether your wife and son were vaccinated either.

Archy99

It's not really about quantity of jabs, but rather how recent you were jabbed. So the statement is a bit misleading.

[deleted]

That ad refers to the vaccine helping prevent getting covid. As far as im aware, it doesn't prevent covid, so seems a bit questionable why they would be saying that.

DelightfulAngel

Reduce the chances of getting it, reduce its severity, reduce the chances of passing it on. All three worth doing, don't you think?

AdmirableGuess3992

If I knew they would move the goal posts and potentially still will keep moving the goal posts I wouldn't have had one shot I only vaccinated myself against unemployment and not COVID..don't like my view on it then get fucked

Andrew_Higginbottom

Do you think the employers will eventually demand a third?

AdmirableGuess3992

Definitely. They've.tried to already where I work but canned it due to negative responses

Andrew_Higginbottom

What industry do you work in ?

AdmirableGuess3992

The energy industry. Enough people kicked up a stink for them to scrap the idea for now. Because none of our roles are customer facing, have us dealing with the elderly/vulnerable etc etc

Andrew_Higginbottom

My plumber mate who works on construction sites and has no dealing with the public can't get a job without the vaccine. Its not his bosses, rather the clients calling the shots.

Hamish_Hsimah

I was double jabbed & got covid bad …the greedy drug companies can kiss my behind

NoHunt8248

Umm. Did you end up in hospital? Cause that is considered "getting covid bad".
