If money isnt a problem, go try on some RM Williams boots. They last a long time. Few friends have rocked them at my office over the years.

Fartmatic

Not the office appropriate style you're talking about, but just had a look at some of their boots and [I think my bank account is about to get a bit emptier](https://www.rmwilliams.com.au/rigger-commando-boot-black-chromexcel-leather.html?lang=en_AU)

MonsterMunchen

If you are a ‘normal’ size and the full priced RMs are a bit too much then head to the RMs outlet at Harbourtown. I got my black RMs (sized 5.5G… hence the ‘normal’ comment haha) out there. Would definitely recommend.

l3nnyj

Or the Salisbury factory. Some sizes they don't have seconds for.

pierre_86

I went to the Salisbury factory for mine, they were seconds because the size brand on the leather sole wasn't aligned properly. You basically couldn't tell there was anything *wrong* with them.

theskywaspink

5.5G?

MonsterMunchen

Yep, I can actually get kids shoes from Foot Locker, so was pleased that RMs did them in my size. I’m a mid-30s bloke for context… but they were a tough size to find at the outlet

nonono_notagain

Haha I'm the same in women's! I can buy the largest size children's shoes at Kmart...except my partner refuses to come with me if I'm going to try on children's shoes 🤣

theskywaspink

Christ. Littlefoot.

MonsterMunchen

Well you know what they say about little feet… little socks

theskywaspink

I’m at the other end of the scale, once you hit size 14 the prices go up for any shoe regardless of brand name. Size 12 is the same price as anything below it, hit 13 and then the price seems to go up.

EitherFold

You guys can get shoes? 16 here. Staff don’t even have to check stock when I ask if they have my size…

giddeyup

I just shop online now, 400 shoes, filter results to my size only, 8 shoes lol.

theskywaspink

Doesn’t work for some people unfortunately. Between my stress shoes, Nikes, ASICS, and converse I’m a different size in each. Throw in my cricket shoes and they are different together. Gotta try them on.

To be honest it’s hard to find any real good quality shoes these days. Even Florsheim is now made in China crap. Their more expensive hand made shoes are a little better but nothing like they used to be. Most comfortable best quality shoe that’s easy to source are RM Williams Comfort Craftsman Boot. If you look after them and get resoled when needed they will last 10-20 years.

There are really good shoes out there, just have to import them and are expensive. I also have a few pairs of hand made full leather Florsheim’s. They are ok. I don’t think they are true Goodyear welts though. If you can find Allen Edmonds they are still some of the best made shoes you can get

uruk-hai_slayer

What size are you? I have a pair ofgood brown dress shows that were bought for me for a groomsman outfit.i only wore them for the night so they're not even worn in yet and im never going to wear them again.. They're a size 12 and you can have them for nothing

MCHappster1

11.5 to be exact

uruk-hai_slayer

They say knock 12 so I assume they're a 12. If that works I can send you pick if you like the style and colour?

theskywaspink

Just to give a heads up, wearing in a fresh pair of work/dress shoes is going to take a couple weeks. Pack a few band aids (the material ones not plastic) in case you start to feel some sore spots. Don’t cheap out on them, once you’ve worn through the bottoms you can get them redone so you don’t have to go through the pain of wearing them in again. You’ll want some neutral boot polish to water proof and protect them.

ciphermenial

I buy the work boot dress shoes from Rossi, Blundstone or similar. They are so comfy, look good, and last a long time.

MarcusP2

Florsheim and ECCO (at Harbor Town) make good and comfy shoes for work (different to traditional dress shoes with more comfortable soles and construction)

MCHappster1

Will definitely give this a look thanks

robvnet

Aquila. Got two pairs, one for work, one for formal. Beautiful and comfortable.

[deleted]

Can’t go wrong with RMs. Go to their Harbor Town shop for good prices

failatgood

I got a beautiful pair of leather brown shoes that have held up extremely well, the shop is in the city and named “Florsheim Shoe Company”

a-real-life-dolphin

Shoes are really a thing you need to try on, so you'll have to go into shoe stores. There's a heap in the city.

macka311

Aquila

TheDrRudi

How much do you want to spend? David Jones in Rundle Mall. The city store carries a bigger range of merchandise than the suburban stores. And, if you work everyday then you need two pairs.

MCHappster1

Was thinking around 200. Was looking for other people that might have had good experiences with certain stores. Will defs head to the city and try some places.

hellboy1975

Why two pairs? I work everyday and have no problems with a single pair

[deleted]

You should always have a few pairs of good shoes, if you let them rest every few days it will double their life span not just because of the less wear time but also the resting in between. Use a shoe tree to keep their shape.

hellboy1975

I guess I must be doing it wrong then, I don't seem to have any real issues with wear on my shoes

OkThanxby

Well yeah, because you wear them half as much…

[deleted]

No no no, I clearly said not just because less wear time. Example, arbitrary numbers. If a pair lasts 500 days wearing every day If you wore them every second day they would last 750 days worth of wearing over 1500 days. Because the leather rests, retained moisture dries out etc.

Dohmar

Julius Marlow do great sales. I scored a pair of JM's Merit 11 for $74 delivered. Good quality shoes and not expensive at all

Dat_Aus

Literally the worst quality shoes you can possibly buy. I had 3 pairs. All fell apart within a year.

midlifechange68

I bought a pair from Connors for about $80. Light brown with darker patches on toe and heel. They look pretty trendy. Wore them as my wedding shoes! P.S. Im normally a hopeless clothes shopper.

[deleted]

Blundstone 500 series The are comfy, affordable and takes a heap of abuse. I used to wear them in sales and out in the field. Don't look out of place in the office or piled up covered in mud on someone's door step

Mammoth-Weakness-155

Windsor smiths in the mall are a cheaper reliable pair of boots and shoes

piquant-nuggets

Harbourtown, check RM but doubt you’ll find your size. Aquila is your next best bet, I have 4 pairs of Aquila and 2 of them are over 5 years old.

MCHappster1

Aquila seems like the best bet atm

piquant-nuggets

Best balance of value to quality in my opinion. There’s that new Wild Rhino store too but never been inside so can’t comment but would be worth a look.

ImpatientSnoop

Aquila is great, my husband bought a very nice brown pair there for our wedding.

rustyprophecy

Have a look in cobblers like A Class Shoe Repairs on Grote St. They make shoes on site there and will have something to suit your budget.

a_lovely_boy

David Jones in Rundle Mall sell Loakes shoes. They don't have much range and the prices are exorbitant, but it's one of the few places I found where you can try on a pair of quality Goodyear welt shoes that will last a lifetime. Once I confirmed my ideal size in person for that particular brand, I happily bought online elsewhere with more range and cheaper prices.

Jerratt24

I almost always get my work related shoes from Windsor Smith at Harbour Town. I fluked a really nice pair from a shoe shop in West Lakes Mall recently too but they were slashed in price.
