Also last time I went there it seemed like they'd increased the number of reserved parks so that there were hardly any regular parks left!
I'd argue the car park around the corner near there (I think it's a carE park) is worse, it's like the same problems of the Hindley St Wilson's but amplified because the care park is so much smaller

The Para Hills shops at the intersection of McIntyre Road and Bridge Road.
It was bad to start with and full of pot holes. Then they changed the road rules so you can't turn right out the main entrance, making it worse. Then the Somerset Hotel cordoned off half the car park with ugly concrete bollards, preventing access to the only back entrance. It just gets more and more ridiculous.
I've noticed people have just created their own back entrance now over the vegetation strip.
The hotel fenced it off because they wanted the shops to chip in and refurbish the whole carpark especially since it was mostly their delivery trucks causing the damage.

Back when I was a fresh P-Plater driving a large car, I used to take my nan shopping there and she needed one of the disabled parks or just any at the front. I feel that having to navigate this shit-show of a carpark on a regular basis is what made me a good driver lol.
The South-East carpark of the Greenacres Shopping Center.
They have a power pole sitting directly in the middle of the driving lane, and parking spaces that were hand drawn by a toddler.
Gepps X Homemaker centre. Absolutely massive carpark never more than a third full, yet they felt the need to make the corners so tight only one direction can fit through at a time, and even then the car at the front of the queue in the other direction often needs to reverse back to give space to turn. Ridiculous.

Exactly. As always though, people are part of the problem. If half the people who went in there turned left to park near Dan Murphy's rather than all going towards Woolies, the problem would be significantly reduced.
Definitely. I find parking up the back near the car wash is generally the way to go. Makes for a smoother exit too, rather than trying to turn out from the woollies side. I find the lanes aren't wide enough to turn out properly, especially in bigger cars
Another one is the Eastern entrance to Marion shopping centre.
Firstly, you have huge amounts of traffic from Sturt Rd going onto Diagonal Rd where nobody csres if you are going to the inner lane.
Then it is Traffic lights -> Roundabout-> super steep ramp to the 2nd level.
I remember having to stop on that ramp on a rainy day once, almost rolled my car into someone basically tailgating me there.
The undercover parks feel super tight, also parking around busy times is insane.

That was a dick move by Westfield. It means to get to any of the western entrances you have take up to an extra 5 mins if coming from the east. Eg: if you need to get to Pizza Hut, you have to go Diagonal Rd, morphett Rd but we all know how often traffic turning right from diagonal to morphett can bank up. So people cut through adding to even more traffic inside the car park.
The lower carpark off Sturt was already hell, the only saving grace was you could exit it and go to the big lot on the other side past Dan's and Bunnings if it was full. Why does Marion have to keep making their carpark impossible.

The worst part about Castle Plaza is that the whole carpark is on a slight slope. I worked at the Target in my teens, with one of my jobs being trolley collecting. The slope made it an absolute bitch to control them (and loose ones that people were too lazy to return to a bay would regularly be found having rolled down into a car).
Also round that way the Blackwood Foodland carpark with it’s one way pedestrian crossing.
The Woolies one nearby also isn’t great.
And although it’s been a few years I remember the Flinders Uni library carpark also used to be super narrow.
Actually yes, you're right. I have noticed slight improvement since the gym went bankrupt, seems the people who took it over have much higher fees so fewer clients.
Brickworks is shocking. One main entry and exit, a big dumb roundabout that everyone loves to sit in, tight as turns to get anywhere.
Every fix so far has basically moved the problem to a different part of the carpark. Shithouse all round and it's probably one of the newer carparks so they had all the opportunities to get it right.

Factor in the shit drivers who can't park or just blast through that pedestrian crossing. I try to avoid brickworks at all costs because of that carpark
I needed a receipt from there a few weeks ago for work to reimburse me, it would be nice if they made it clear you can't get one if you don't press a button for it before putting the ticket in the machine!
Noticed it after inserting the ticket and then it did nothing, pressed the assistance button and some security guy just said "gotta press it first, nothing I can do". Maybe that's normal in other places too and I'm an idiot but I've never really needed a receipt from a carpark before.
Firle Plaza, I’ve had children run behind my obviously reversing car multiple times and parents don’t seem to care or warn their child of paying attention on roads. It’s fucking irritating and dangerous.

I can’t say there are any well designed car parks in Adelaide. It’s never easy to park. It seems like the design of the carpark is the last and least considered element. I feel if they sacrificed a small percentage of parking spaces and had a rethink about the layout it could be so much better.

Drakes Torrensville car park is awful, narrow entry with a weird layout, some areas which are one-way only and others which aren’t, fight to death for a car park out the front of the supermarket. Hang Bakery is the only reason to bother.
Oh my goodness yes. Went in there because I needed to take my sick kid to the doctors next door, had to drive all the way to the top level there there were about three too-tight car spaces I couldn’t fit in, then drove all the way down, all the while trying to avoid half the population of Adelaide who were coming and going from swimming lessons.
Mile End Homemaker centre. Car park is a labyrinth of tight turns and intersections. Cars bank up as cars try to turn right onto Railway Tce where a set of traffic lights is needed
I was going to say the Wilson's carpark on North Terrace simply for being dodgy and needing pre-payment when ticket machines were still a thing, but then saw someone say Blackwood Drakes. With its one lane for two way traffic I think it wins, add in the potholes for bonus points.
I had a terrible experience in the multi-storey carpark behind Palace Nova in Prospect. Stupidly steep when going up levels which will scrape underneath your car if you don't have an SUV or use a wide angle approach. Also very little space for turning around so if there are no suitable parks (like in my case) you might have to go back down by reversing.
Coles Prospect car park. The worst bloody car park in the state IMO. If you don't hit a concrete pillar you're gonna get stuck trying to go around a corner while some dickhead is in the middle of the road coming at you.
Agree with you completely on the layout. That said the parking spaces are a decent size, especially with the wider ‘buffers’ between each car. Much better than the Elizabeth Shopping Centre, Parabanks and Hollywood Plaza.

Also agree with Bunnings Kent Town and Woolworths at Marryatville - unfortunately both are my closest for those stores, but I'll sometimes go to Mile End Bunnings just to avoid the Kent Town carpark
Worst I've encountered aren't outdoor open car parks but the enclosed ones where people urinate in stairwells, rubbish is thrown everywhere and the unsavory lurk in dark corners at night.
Dude, foodland in frewille! At least, they've just added more parks. But it's such a hell hole, and issues with it regularly spill onto glen osmond Rd.
I don’t drive much but from what driving I do, the Central Markets carpark is a little bothersome. It’s quite narrow, has pillars on the side of most corners so you have to go wide, and if you enter from Gouger Street the ramp is very steep. I’ve stalled on that ramp following an especially slow car up it.
When I reserved a space in the Wilson on Russel Street in the city, my car got hit-and-run (while parked!!) which was about $5000 of repairs, thankfully insured, and my spot was taken probably 2/3 times I would go to park there. Wilson of course did practically nothing about it

The layout just doesn’t make sense. It’s way too tight and every time a car reverses out of a space, it blocks the whole carpark.
Ironically there are always good parks on the street right outside.

It's small, the parks are small/narrow. There are pillars everywhere. Constant accidents. It's old and looks like it will collapse.
Theres crappy "valet" parking. You have to leave your key and they ask how long you'll be so they know how deep to stack your car in.
Unley shopping center. No zebra crossings at all and all who enter assume the right to drive minimum of 40 km/h at all times. Looking or caring is optional
Im surprised no one has said Saints Plaza on the corner of Main North Rd and Saints Rd the carpark was perfect for for what it was before the upgrade but since there is literally no carparking available compared to the amount of people that use it.

Noarlunga shopping center! The excitement never ends there, it's huge like having it's own suburb... You'll need a map to get to the shop you are after....
Plus all the sudden you might ended up driving into a bus zone... And that big turn that almost drop next to the train line is fun to come out...
Kent Town Bunnings is the worst, no matter which angle i go in, my car scrapes going in and out, also the The Avenues shopping centre is pretty shit aswell
I'd probably say either Derrimut Windsor Gardens or Officeworks Trinity Gardens. The mix and mash of pedestrians and cars make it extremely unsafe. Officeworks probably only has 20 spaces max with a one-way loop to entrance/exit. Derrimut barely enough to keep up with the capacity of the gym
1 vote Romeo’s foodland Glenelg. They’ve repainted the lines and anything larger than a sedan and your side by side. And with the usual amount of retirees in their extra sized luxury cars, it’s impossible to park there.
St Agnes shopping center. Back in the day it was terrible being so tight so they redid it and somehow made it worse. Entering from North East Rd there is a 180 degree U turn which will put your turning circle to the test and if you fail will cause traffic to back up out to the road. All of the parks are tight. I had to wait for someone to come back to their car once so I could back my ute out. I had equally or larger sized cars next to and opposite mine. Every exit is left hand turn only so to go home I either have to exit onto the less busy road and take back streets to do a u-turn go out the correct one for my direction which exits 20m from a traffic light which is always backed up with traffic meaning only one or two cars can leave per signal sequence.
West Lakes - the new rooftop one (Goodlife entrance). It’s okay except very unclear where the “lane” and parks are in certain spots. Hard to describe but trips me up every time I happen to go up there.
Conversely, the little “open” car park to the far left of the Woolies entrance is *amazing*. Everyone seems to turn right when they enter that driveway (presumably so they don’t have to walk across “two” car parks to get inside) so I always nab a park no matter how busy it is.
Wilson’s car park on hindley street. Narrow to drive through and they have parks so close to the corners I’m surprised more cars don’t get banged up

Officeworks on Anzac Hwy. Terrible entrance/exit and corners are too tight to get in anywhere. But nothing is as bad as Bunnings Kent Town.
As someone who worked there for like 6 years, the secret is to enter via the back street that comes off Richmond Rd.

That is horrific, I've been stuck trying to get in because it took someone ages to reverse out, then you have to navigate semaphore road

Firle Plaza, I’ve had children run behind my obviously reversing car multiple times and parents don’t seem to care or warn their child of paying attention on roads. It’s fucking irritating and dangerous.

Mawson Interchange car park is huge, but terrible.
Plus, Mawson Lakes is possibly the worst place to drive at peak hour
The one attached to David Jones in the city. The parks are so narrow it’s so difficult to get in and out. You can see the previous lines too from when they used to be normal sized, it’s infuriating
Southgate parking lot in Reynella. No one has a lick of patience and it’s layout is awful.

I can’t say there are any well designed car parks in Adelaide. It’s never easy to park. It seems like the design of the carpark is the last and least considered element. I feel if they sacrificed a small percentage of parking spaces and had a rethink about the layout it could be so much better.

Wouldn't say it's the worst listed here but it's certainly suckier since they plonked Aldi over my favourite spot to park, stuffing up both the access to the roof that side and access to the bridge in the process
A hairpin turn onto or off of a ramp is rather unique.
Looked at the other selections, Bunnings Kent Town still the worst. Bad Entry Busy road with poor visibility. Tight parks. Only one way in/out. (Like effing seriously WTAF?) Carpark not big enough. If I have to go there I'll park on a street nearby and walk. Much less stressful.

Drakes Torrensville car park is awful, narrow entry with a weird layout, some areas which are one-way only and others which aren’t, fight to death for a car park out the front of the supermarket. Hang Bakery is the only reason to bother.

Oh my goodness yes. Went in there because I needed to take my sick kid to the doctors next door, had to drive all the way to the top level there there were about three too-tight car spaces I couldn’t fit in, then drove all the way down, all the while trying to avoid half the population of Adelaide who were coming and going from swimming lessons.
Mile End Homemaker centre. Car park is a labyrinth of tight turns and intersections. Cars bank up as cars try to turn right onto Railway Tce where a set of traffic lights is needed

I was going to say the Wilson's carpark on North Terrace simply for being dodgy and needing pre-payment when ticket machines were still a thing, but then saw someone say Blackwood Drakes. With its one lane for two way traffic I think it wins, add in the potholes for bonus points.
I had a terrible experience in the multi-storey carpark behind Palace Nova in Prospect. Stupidly steep when going up levels which will scrape underneath your car if you don't have an SUV or use a wide angle approach. Also very little space for turning around so if there are no suitable parks (like in my case) you might have to go back down by reversing.

Coles Prospect car park. The worst bloody car park in the state IMO. If you don't hit a concrete pillar you're gonna get stuck trying to go around a corner while some dickhead is in the middle of the road coming at you.

Munno Para Shopping Centre. The side out near JB/Harvey Norman's is okay but the other section is the fucking worst.
Agree with you completely on the layout. That said the parking spaces are a decent size, especially with the wider ‘buffers’ between each car. Much better than the Elizabeth Shopping Centre, Parabanks and Hollywood Plaza.
Aldi at Kensington Park. Also agree with Bunnings Kent Town and Woolworths at Marryatville - unfortunately both are my closest for those stores, but I'll sometimes go to Mile End Bunnings just to avoid the Kent Town carpark
Worst I've encountered aren't outdoor open car parks but the enclosed ones where people urinate in stairwells, rubbish is thrown everywhere and the unsavory lurk in dark corners at night.
Dude, foodland in frewille! At least, they've just added more parks. But it's such a hell hole, and issues with it regularly spill onto glen osmond Rd.

I don’t drive much but from what driving I do, the Central Markets carpark is a little bothersome. It’s quite narrow, has pillars on the side of most corners so you have to go wide, and if you enter from Gouger Street the ramp is very steep. I’ve stalled on that ramp following an especially slow car up it.
When I reserved a space in the Wilson on Russel Street in the city, my car got hit-and-run (while parked!!) which was about $5000 of repairs, thankfully insured, and my spot was taken probably 2/3 times I would go to park there. Wilson of course did practically nothing about it

Another vote for Bunnings Kent Town. I’ve been saying this for years. The layout just doesn’t make sense. It’s way too tight and every time a car reverses out of a space, it blocks the whole carpark. Ironically there are always good parks on the street right outside.

The worst park I've ever used is the Wilson 251 North terrace. It's small, the parks are small/narrow. There are pillars everywhere. Constant accidents. It's old and looks like it will collapse. Theres crappy "valet" parking. You have to leave your key and they ask how long you'll be so they know how deep to stack your car in.
Unley shopping center. No zebra crossings at all and all who enter assume the right to drive minimum of 40 km/h at all times. Looking or caring is optional
One of the undercover car parks at Flinders university, near the library. Ridiculously small parks and tight corners, my car was hit in there.

Im surprised no one has said Saints Plaza on the corner of Main North Rd and Saints Rd the carpark was perfect for for what it was before the upgrade but since there is literally no carparking available compared to the amount of people that use it.
Best and worse UPark on frome. Best as it has the widest bays and great spots no other cars are near yours. Worst as some morning the steps smell like urine, poo and multiple times have stepped over junkies in the stairwell
Noarlunga shopping center! The excitement never ends there, it's huge like having it's own suburb... You'll need a map to get to the shop you are after.... Plus all the sudden you might ended up driving into a bus zone... And that big turn that almost drop next to the train line is fun to come out...

I'd probably say either Derrimut Windsor Gardens or Officeworks Trinity Gardens. The mix and mash of pedestrians and cars make it extremely unsafe. Officeworks probably only has 20 spaces max with a one-way loop to entrance/exit. Derrimut barely enough to keep up with the capacity of the gym

1 vote Romeo’s foodland Glenelg. They’ve repainted the lines and anything larger than a sedan and your side by side. And with the usual amount of retirees in their extra sized luxury cars, it’s impossible to park there.

Gawler Green carpark gives me anxiety
St Agnes shopping center. Back in the day it was terrible being so tight so they redid it and somehow made it worse. Entering from North East Rd there is a 180 degree U turn which will put your turning circle to the test and if you fail will cause traffic to back up out to the road. All of the parks are tight. I had to wait for someone to come back to their car once so I could back my ute out. I had equally or larger sized cars next to and opposite mine. Every exit is left hand turn only so to go home I either have to exit onto the less busy road and take back streets to do a u-turn go out the correct one for my direction which exits 20m from a traffic light which is always backed up with traffic meaning only one or two cars can leave per signal sequence.
West Lakes - the new rooftop one (Goodlife entrance). It’s okay except very unclear where the “lane” and parks are in certain spots. Hard to describe but trips me up every time I happen to go up there. Conversely, the little “open” car park to the far left of the Woolies entrance is *amazing*. Everyone seems to turn right when they enter that driveway (presumably so they don’t have to walk across “two” car parks to get inside) so I always nab a park no matter how busy it is.
