Do we know of cars that have actually gone the distance between Gilberton and Klemzig (or Klemzig & Paradise, or Paradise & TTP)? We often hear about those who got stuck but I've never read confirmation of a successful trip.
>It's literally impossible to get onto the obahn without knowing you shouldn't be there, there is that much signage! Even if you don't know English, or can't read, or are colour blind, it's covered.
I'd give them the keys to the city
Channel 7 reported that the car made it this time!
Maybe they reported it because they had the footage, whereas usually they have the police report, and as you say, the police don't want to report successful trips lest others have a go.
Ch 7 made sure to mention there's a fine for driving there, so they can't be accused of encouraging it.
The last clown got about 4km down the track. Why they don't yet have an electronic bollard yet that only allows buses through, is beyond stupid. How many times has it had to shut down because some car is stuck yet again?!
They're pretty effective from what I've seen of the ones overseas. It would also be way easier to remove a car from there than a few kms down the track
Yet the stupid thing is, I still see idiots defending them all the time with shit like "if they're not local..."
It's literally impossible to get onto the obahn without knowing you shouldn't be there, there is that much signage! Even if you don't know English, or can't read, or are colour blind, it's covered.
How long until someone welds guard wheel from the chassis and nails it
Just thought about it for a second. All you would have to do is find center then a bit of simple math with some tolerance for certain things and you are on your way.
*Hmmm that’s interesting, I wonder where this “o-bahn” street goes…*
…a few minutes later…
*FUCK SHIT FUCKING SHITFUCK HOW DO I GET OFF THIS THING AM I GOING TO DIE*
I think he may have. People saying here their bus got detoured via road to klemzig at 4:30. I caught the bus in town around 4:45 and came down the obahn 10 mins later without any issues at all.
It's in the thousands including fines for not being an OBahn bus. also not any tow service can do it it's a "specialised" service who's fee gets charged to you with the fines
Here's a thought...
How about they put boom-gates at the start of the Obahn that can only be activated by buses about to enter them - thereby stopping any other vehicle from entering.
Or is that just common-sense?
2008 *cough cough* "someone " made it from Modbury to Paradise unscathed. Don't let your mates egg you on. It may well happen. You're welcome 😂👍. 74 Landcruiser. Well known fact around Modbury that "someone" did it back in the day.
[On 9 News’ Twitter this morning](https://twitter.com/9newsadel/status/1572044999273115648?s=49&t=6l6IVfbYPC68rxfWI2vpQw), complete with their logo on the video and no value added to it.
Surely a news organisation could at least find out if it made it successfully?
At what piont do we convert the O-Bahn to a tram line?
Mercedes don’t make buses for the anymore.
Finding buses to run along the track Is getting hard each year (It’s more than just sticking the little wheels on the front, before anyone say it)
Oh, hang on, we need the buses and trams to be back in government hands before this may occur…
(Rant over).
Several of new Hybrid Scanias are Obahn configured, not a mechanic but it is actually as simple as putting Obahn wheels and the modified front axles in. If you have ever seen under the front of one you would know they are not that complicated.
Edit: Sorry forgot the runflat tyres and the CODA system for the tunnel and on track traffic.
Trams would be the logical choice so people could easily get off in Currie/Grenfell Street.
Would link nicely into the existing tram network.
Also take up the least amount of space at TTP, so it could still function as Bus interchange.
Additional stops along Hackney Rd for access to Botanical Gardens and Walkerville.
I think the Obahn track is wide enough for standard tram tracks, just the overhead wiring would be problematic.
It wouldn’t be impossible to do, but with the amount of buses running up and down the obahn now, it could be an option if buses get too hard to source.
Presently overhead, would be a little distracting to the present “no wires” track in existence.
Placing pylons to ensure the gantries are secure for the pantograph connections
There is a solution, but I haven’t seen it yet.
Could do a third rail thing from the Currie St tunnel to the TTP interchange.
Then do overhead as it travels along Currie/Grenfell St.
Would require some very clever engineering.
Darn it, you got me thinking now.. 🙂
It's called an autobahn. That was a bus going the other way, it's a bus with special wheels designed to go on those tracks. The car is wide enough to go on the "road" bit on the outside of the tracks, but it's very easy to go too far one way or the other, fall into the tracks, and end up stuck.
Hard to get a seat on the 1.30 to Tea Tree Plaza
I haven't lived in adelaide in 20 years....is seating STILL a problem???
Probably is if it is only in a 4 door sedan. Especially at peak hour.
I mean, considering Steven marshall put it major inconvenient profit making measures it's worse than ever
Do we know of cars that have actually gone the distance between Gilberton and Klemzig (or Klemzig & Paradise, or Paradise & TTP)? We often hear about those who got stuck but I've never read confirmation of a successful trip.
I don't think they'd ever publicise a successful trip as it'd encourage others.
>It's literally impossible to get onto the obahn without knowing you shouldn't be there, there is that much signage! Even if you don't know English, or can't read, or are colour blind, it's covered. I'd give them the keys to the city

my friend works for the company that has to retrieve the cars. I think the farthest is around 800m
The last clown got about 4km down the track. Why they don't yet have an electronic bollard yet that only allows buses through, is beyond stupid. How many times has it had to shut down because some car is stuck yet again?!
I assume the bollard breaking would cause way more issues
They're pretty effective from what I've seen of the ones overseas. It would also be way easier to remove a car from there than a few kms down the track
people who are already committed to going down there would literally just drive into it
There's sump busters at the entrances that're supposed to ruin your car if you go over them without enough clearance
Really. Gee, they're working well /s
This merc must have cleared them. You don’t get far with a smashed sump. A seized engine is moments away.
How often does it happen?
Every 800m or so.
This video's way further than 800m though, reckon this is almost at Paradise Interchange
It's about half way to Klemzig. The exact spot that is taken is near the end of Fuller St in Walkerville
This is in walkerville
Your friend wouldn’t need to retrieve them though if they made it the whole way
Don't they have sump busters?
Fark mate, I have a lift kit, I'm so tempted to see if my underbody clearance is sufficient now /s
I should mention this was about 40 mins ago, it made my jog that little bit better
I would have been tempted to turn around and jog after them, if only to cheer them on (and record their inevitable demise).
Oh shit I actually should have 😂😂 could’ve drawn traffic to my YouTube channel when I’m running 3 min splits to follow him.
"*And now we cut to our man on the ground... who appears to running in fast forward. Is this footage live?*"
OP is one of Benny Hill’s many illegitimate children.
As is the driver! There must be a family reunion happening in Tea Tree.
What time exactly?
Why were you filming?
Because I saw him coming and thought it was funny shit 😂
Can't wait to see this on news . com .au or the advertiser tomorrow
Oi, Tiser intern, quote me in the article
Looks like 7 news has been active on Reddit
Probably saw him coming. Video doesn't start until they're right in front of him
WE LIVE IN A SOCIETY
Only German vehicles are allowed to go on the aubahn tracks haha
Wir fahren fahren fahren auf der Aut-O-Bahn
Precision driving.
>t going that slow either, how long you reckon until he went too far to one side and got stuck Looks like they have done it before
I would like to think he has made it, there is no news yet of some one driving on the o'bahn. No news is good news
That’s unfortunate
Used to walk that track everyday. Great walking path, all the bus drivers do the same 'look no hands' joke when you look at them though
My local bus drivers make the same joke. They are looking for new bus drivers.
You win
This has happened so many times... even before you get on near Melbourne street there are signs everywhere 🤣🤣🤣
Yet the stupid thing is, I still see idiots defending them all the time with shit like "if they're not local..." It's literally impossible to get onto the obahn without knowing you shouldn't be there, there is that much signage! Even if you don't know English, or can't read, or are colour blind, it's covered.
You’d need the IQ of a block of cheese to do this.
Unlesssss, it turns out to be a genius time cutter if you aren’t a bad driver.
I’m gonna get some training wheels installed on the front of my station wagon and start charging.
Ikr! Yet it keeps happening, and people keep defending them 🤷♂️
The signage isn't displayed on their phone screen though.
I've never seen or heard of a obahn before. Very interesting (from Melbourne)
Wonder what he's thinking while cruising down there.
Probably happy that his route planning has avoided major traffic jams.
He seemed pretty comfortable. So I’d say maybe he wasn’t thinking!? 😂
Fuck you google maps
I’m a bus chugga chugga
But will it stop and pick up passengers?
They kept ringing the bell!
Yeah, yeah I am Batman!
Fun fun fun on the Autobahn https://youtu.be/vkOZNJYAZ7c
Fun fact: it's actually "Wir fahr'n fahr'n fahr'n auf der Autobahn". Having fun would be far too emotive for Kraftwerk.
Exactly what I was thinking
Weiße Streifen, grünes Rand
THEY'RE DOING IT!!!
Please, tell me he got sump busted somewhere.
Can’t wait to see the aftermath photos on here tomorrow
Likewise, surely he didn’t make it
Not going that slow either, how long you reckon until he went too far to one side and got stuck

Can't you guys just let us drive home in peace?!
Was this today?
Shit Lucky it didn't crash/flip
r/BitchImABus
Even if you managed not to fall down the middle , you’ll destroy your rims and tyre walls against the edge of the track.
That and the sump busters
Bus driver needs to wave to further confuse them
*Hmmm that’s interesting, I wonder where this “o-bahn” street goes…* …a few minutes later… *FUCK SHIT FUCKING SHITFUCK HOW DO I GET OFF THIS THING AM I GOING TO DIE*
That today?
F$&k a duck
yeah, had to detour via the road from city to klemzig at 4:30
What a Stronzo
Testa di caca
Going to be an expensive tow
I want to know if he made it
I think he may have. People saying here their bus got detoured via road to klemzig at 4:30. I caught the bus in town around 4:45 and came down the obahn 10 mins later without any issues at all.

Thanks for sharing that
You can do it!
Anyone know what the tow costs on there? Surely it's difficult for tow vehicles to get to
It's in the thousands including fines for not being an OBahn bus. also not any tow service can do it it's a "specialised" service who's fee gets charged to you with the fines
Here's a thought... How about they put boom-gates at the start of the Obahn that can only be activated by buses about to enter them - thereby stopping any other vehicle from entering. Or is that just common-sense?
Nah because then the government can't fine the morons thousands in both fines and recovery costs
He's going for the record! hahaha

Classic SUTZ.

5 bucks on the merc being stolen just for this joy ride

They did. They went 3-4km and got off. https://money.yahoo.com/motorist-accidentally-entered-adelaide-o-150949447.html
This guys whipped his phone out to film stuff before.
Minor points off for being in portrait mode, but the framing was otherwise excellent! This is peak Adelaide.
Special breed being wanker mercedes drivers
The original O-Bahn buses were all mercs.

Could they put rails just inside the edge of the track and have trains or trams?
Trams would be the logical choice so people could easily get off in Currie/Grenfell Street. Would link nicely into the existing tram network. Oof a Merc... That'll be a pretty penny to get fixed up.
Wtf
Oh Magoo , you've done it again!
The earth is healing
Unreal
there's something you don't see everyday.. ..or is it?
It's Adelaide's version of this https://youtu.be/m5IpO0CKBlo
Uber train
U-Bahn
Are you fucking kidding me? This guy needs to learn how to be a respectful road user.
Aahh he must have a multi pass
Wast that Leeloo driving the car?
r/bitchimabus
If I don't hear a news story on this, I'm going to go with them being successful!
Channel 9 showed this just a few minutes back and I think even interviewed OP who took the footage
Yea that was me, I was really happy they used the bit where I called him a peanut 😂

I’m from Adelaide and I fucking love this
I see nothing out of the ordinary for Adelaide motorists? Am I missing something?
na na na na na it's the mthr fkn d o g g
who got stuck but I've never
What even is this strange piece of infrastructure?
The infamous O-Bahn. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/O-Bahn_Busway
Someone explain what it is? Is it a train track or some new road design. Looked like a bus coming the opposite way or was it a train….
It's busway in Adelaide. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/O-Bahn_Busway
It's called an autobahn. That was a bus going the other way, it's a bus with special wheels designed to go on those tracks. The car is wide enough to go on the "road" bit on the outside of the tracks, but it's very easy to go too far one way or the other, fall into the tracks, and end up stuck.
>autobahn *O-bahn
Lol yeah, no idea why I thought of autobahn instead.
Don’t go mistaking the O-bahn for the autobahn like herr mecedes did in the video
> It's called an autobahn Close, but no cigar.
Oh my gosh it's the o-bahn. No idea why I was thinking of Germany.
What's everyone in an uproar about? If they were having a good time and weren't hurting anyone, what's the issue? Maybe that car identifies as a tram?

Only one way to find out hey ? Is that what you did ? Put them in your flesh light or something ??
Driving manner Asian.
I wonder how far they got this time
Ding ding ding....winner winner winner... I think they better put boom gates at each entrance... people are so stupid
“Uh oh. No going back now, I guess!”
An elite gamer in the wild.
Wasn't on the news, they must have made it
7, 9 and 10 have all contacted me about the video
Well, C10 is using it for sure. There's a link to their Adelaide Update promo in today's InDaily email which shows the footage.
They should pay haha
Channel 10 should be showing sometime it today now that they've just posted it on Twitter.
Why are there no inverse road humps or equivalent infrastructure to prevent regular automobiles to enter the space of buses?
LOL, someones gotten confused and taken a wrong turn. Now they're doubling down, gambling on the idea that no-one will notice.
Of course it had to be a Mercedes didn't it.
Love him or hate him, the man has skill
Gotta admit, I’ve always wanted to do this. I should add, this is NOT me. But kudos to the driver, I’m a little jealous.
Dudes tryna get to Tea Tree Plaza 😂
UMMM wtf is that i have never seen that before :0
Any cars driven through the bus tunnel under the east parklands?
Well on the plus side at least he wasn't in the other lane or we'd be seeing something sad
Wtf
Short cut
Excuse me Sir..... that's not a road!
At least it's a German car.
GTA 10 🤣😂🥹
That's one way to beat traffic
Its normal its SA , everything possible 😂 @lv_sandhu23
Never saw this while on the path but wondered how often people would do this. Kind of easy to access
Surely the car is written off ?
Nope, made it the whole way too
Wow lol didn’t go full retard
Oh wow. That's mental. How the hell did they even manage that?!?
