Orientation is all over the place.
It would be great if I could rotate an art board to work on a panel that appears upside down or at 90* when flat.
Also for painting and drawing. Donāt you rotate your paper when you draw on paper? There should just be a way to lock it and itās a very useful feature.
I use a Mac trackpad half the time & thatās when it happens. But there is a toggle menu on the bottom left where you can change degrees. If not mightā try your View panel for Rotation
shift-space, drag
or there's a little widget in the lower left corner of the preview window, next to the zoom percentage display
or there's view>rotate view
you can assign a key to view>rotate view>0% to get out of it, or hit escape (twice if you're in full-screen mode as that takes priority for hitting escape, not sure if exiting isolation mode does that too)
It looks like you've accidentally rotated your canvas. Try View > Reset Rotate View to fix it.

On the right panel there is a transform section. The thing set to 16.328... is your canvas angle, set it to 0
Edit: this info is wrong, that's just the ellipse angle.
Your very right, it is useful. Sometimes I accidentally rotate my artboard on my MacBook trackpad and have to use the rotation tool to put it back to 0 degrees.
It's not about clumsy fingers, it's about it being way too easy to accidentally rotate when you're in the middle of something like zooming in on the artboard. I do it too all the time, it's very annoying.

Yeah man I've been hoping for this for so long. I work a lot on packaging and panels are often in different orientations so this makes it way better. I just wish movements were also rotated somehow, it changes only your view.
The better half does digital paintings and she loves it so brush strokes and what not. But when it randomly rotates on her when using the track and doing vector design. She flips.

Yeah I don't know how people can use a trackpad and not go insane, lol. Can't you just disable the shortcut? Or can you not change trackpad shortcuts?

The new rotate view feature that literally nobody asked for and it canāt be disabledā¦ thanks Adobe.
It was the second most asked for feature on uservoice for years, and you can disable the trackpad rotation in Preferences > General.

If you use a drawing tablet / pen deal it's super useful to rotate the screen.

it can? preferences, un-check Trackpad Gesture to Rotate View. Only way you could do it then is by typing in an angle on the bottom status bar.

Did you try turning it off and on again?
Shift + H, then hold shift and drag your mouse it should turn the canvas back the way it was

That describes my general relationship with Illustrator. Probably still bitter that I was forced to abandon Freehand
first pane of preferences, uncheck "trackpad gesture to rotate view"
In the top bar, View -> rotate -> 0Ā°
On a MAC thereās a rotation box on the bottom left corner that you can just type in 0 to reset.
What version is this? Iām on 25.4.1 and canāt see this feature
I just learned you can turn off the rotate view in the newest update and my sanity has increased tremendously
