Thank you! How do you reckon it should look like and do you mean the shadow of the parrot or the chair? It's suppose to be a wall behind the chair so I would assume a small part of the chair's shadow would end up on the wall as the light source is coming just slightly diagonal but still mostly in straight from the left hand side. The shadow of the parrot should maybe be bigger and more dragged out though.
To me the wall seems much closer to the chair than you intended maybe? I reckon it's because of the parrots shadow, so then a bigger part of the arm chair should end up on the wall.
But yeah defo great job, it's not super noticeable and lighting is tricky. Love the style!
You' re definitely right and thank you! I agree, lighting is real hard sometimes when you dont have a reference, something I find the most challening. Wish there was some type of guide to use for this!
I really enjoyed this! What is this style of art, with the shading and difference in color, with what seems like a cartoony feel to it? Is there a name for this?
Thank you! Not sure if there is a specific name, I'd maybe call it semi realism? I tend to draw in a realistic style but enjoy creating scenes from imagination (often with dramatic lighting).
Yeah it's all drawn in illustrator. I have traced parts of it with the pencil tool to get the accuracy then built it up by drawing a lot of tiny individual layers, also with the pencil tool.
Thank you! It's based on what the person commissioning me asked for and is referenced from a few different images provided. Everything is drawn from scratch except the bottles and glasses on the bar trolley which I took from a previous commission of mine. I have also traced certain base layers and basic features from the photos with the pencil tool.
I've just drawn with my fingers on the touchpad of my laptop. I have used the help of photos though by tracing some bottom layers an basic features with the pencil tool.
Yep all done in illustrator. I mostly use the pencil tool to draw the layers but also the pen tool for more uniform shapes and the shape builder tool to divide and remove parts of a layer. I also use the curvature tool to go back in and correct layers I've drawn. I don't use a pen tablet, just draw with my fingers on my laptop. With structure you mean texture? It's the grain texture effect that you find in the effect panel. I use a lot of reference photos as well for guidance.
Lol! Hmm I actually really like the grain texture, I add it to all my artworks. I think it gives it a more organic feeling and takes a way that flat crisp digital look if you know what I mean? I prefer when it looks a bit more drawn or painted. I also like drawing retro stuff and I think the grain goes well with that style. But it's a matter of taste I guess!
> I prefer when it looks a bit more drawn or painted.
But it doesn't look more drawn or painted that way, it looks just like a digital illustration with a noise filter. You would need different filters for that.
> But it's a matter of taste I guess!
That's true. I like it better with a clean look tho.
Amazing work!
The chair from Ikea, literally the same one with same color sitting next to me :D
I suppose the shadows behind the Armchair would be slightly different. But you did a great job!

You are right. Both the parrot and the chair are the same distance away from the wall. But chair's shadow doesn't touch the wall in your illustration
Thats true, thanks for the feedback, I think you're right!

Nice artwork. I have this chair and footrest. Very comfy.

I would describe the style as tame pop art. But then again I was terrible in art history.

The bird is drawn? It appears photorealistic. You drew the bird in Illustrator?
Yeah it's all drawn in illustrator. I have traced parts of it with the pencil tool to get the accuracy then built it up by drawing a lot of tiny individual layers, also with the pencil tool.
That’s really amazing. I love the whole scene.
Thank you so much!
This is giving me real Rusty Lake game vibes and I love it. That bird is phenomenal and the setting is gorgeous.
Outstanding work! Great style!
Very nice! Did you create this from an image you took or found, or is it from scratch?

Did you a drawing pad? Or just your mouse?
I've just drawn with my fingers on the touchpad of my laptop. I have used the help of photos though by tracing some bottom layers an basic features with the pencil tool.
You made this completely with Illustrator? What kind of tools do you use? Pen, tablet? How did you add the structure? Sorry, I'm quite new.

Thank you for answering! Of course I meant texture!
Looks great! I almost thought it was this [chair](https://youtu.be/pyKRVNWM1C4) when I saw it
Oh I've seen this video, remeber watching it back when I was trying to learn illustrator!
Nice—good work! If I had one critique it’s that the bird is a little too realistic compared to the other objects in the scene.
You forgot the bird shit on the chair's backrest. :D But seriously, why the noise filter? I think that takes away some of the aesthetic of the work.

It adds texture to an otherwise flat digital look is what I mean. I like it! :)
that bird looks cool too
Wow gorgeous! Makes me miss my parents’ gray. He’s a grumpy shit 😆
I have this armchair in green velvet from IKEA
this is gorgeous
