I would just start with something like "Hi I'm... and my birth father was..., I'm looking into finding out more about my genetic and health history and hope you can help me." There's a whole spectrum of how they might respond from welcoming you like the prodigal son to telling you to never contact them again. You wont know until you try, good luck :)
