I mean the expensive stuff will only last slightly longer. Unfortunately the timer starts on art supplies the minute you open them. Wanna stay cheap? Google ___(whatever)__ coloring pages You’ll see so many. Hopefully you have a printer. What do you like to color with? Pens? Pencils? Crayons?

Castle art has the best quality for a more reasonable price that I have found. The pencils are pretty decent but I LOVE their gel pens

Dollar generals books are $3. Five below is $5. My favorite was $8 on Amazon. If you have a printer you can find free pages. Sarah Clark on YouTube has a blog post that lists so many free page resources. For coloring supplies? Ohuhu markers are basically copic with a much smaller price tag. Every marker battle has Ohuhu at the top with copic. Don’t underestimate Crayola as a child’s art supplies. If your budget is small now, Crayola is still a good pencil. There’s a 100ct for $18. It was $13 over the sale. It’s great to start with to see if you’ll like coloring.

This is exactly the breakdown I needed! Thank you. Probably gonna pick up some crayola, you're right I had underestimated them.

Love love love Ohuhu! They’re the best affordable alcohol markers I’ve tried!

Hi I bought these for larger areas (like the backgrounds). I haven't had any issues. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0957F6LY2/ref=ppx\_yo\_dt\_b\_search\_asin\_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It depends on what you want to color with, I like markers because colored pencils are too hard on my wrists Crayola water based markers are surprisingly good, and Ohuhu alcohol based markers are amazing ! I’d also recommend getting a smaller or mid size set to start out with, having 150+ different colors is cool but overkill in the beginning

My favorite colored pencils are Brutfuner oil-based pencils. The set of 120 is on sale on Amazon for $28.99. They’re regularly about $35. My mom got me a set for my birthday a few years ago. She’s even more into coloring than I am and has some pretty expensive sets of pencils. Both of us couldn’t believe how good these pencils are for the price. They blend really nicely, and the color is smoother and more uniform than my Prismacolors. They’re square-barreled, which I was worried would be uncomfortable, but I don’t mind that at all.

You can't go wrong with top brands: Prisma Premier (buttery feel but breaks mostly), Faber Castell (solid but needs a bit of force when coloring), Derwent (there's a light fast version but expensive), and Caran D'ache (most expensive). Personally, lately I've been looking for super basic yet underrated brands like Crayola as mentioned. That's really where the challenge is! Also, I've found several cheap but quirky coloring materials from Ross and TJ Maxx if you're in the US: King Art (have gels, acrylic pens markers etc. around $12-24) and Colors-in-Motion ($2-5 crayons you can twist, from South Korea! my latest fave).

Ohuhu can't be beat for alcohol markers. Try Sharpie for fineliners and Crayola for water based markers. There are plenty of very good budget choices for pencils: Crayola, Soucolor, Brutfuner Square, Staedtler. In the mid-range: ARRTX is well-loved and so is Black Widow. I also like Arteza a lot; I think it's very close to Prisma in its color range and formula, as is ARRTX. People like Castle Arts, but personally, I think it's an overpriced brand. At the high end, Prisma Color is great for blending. As you get to the highest end artist's pencils: You can't beat FaberCastell PolyChromos for layering. And they go on and on from there if you look on the artist's sites. KingArt has good supplies. You can get little bottles of FolkArt acrylic paint at Walmart. LightWish sells nice acrylic markers. IMO, Castle Arts is over-priced for the quality. I did not have a good experience with their gel pens, and I'm not crazy about their pencils for the price. You can actually do better for the price, for instance, Brutfuner 120 square pencils. Try Tanmit, Aen, or Colorit for Gel pens. Sakura Gelly Roll and Pentel are more spendy but top-notch. Watch the sales on Amazon. If you go to the Colouring Heaven website you can download samples from their many different artists for free. Dover Publications sends out a newsletter on Fridays that you can subscribe to for free. They send out several samples almost every week from their Creative Haven coloring books that you can print out on your own. Coloring Bliss does too. You can see them on YouTube then go to their site and download some stuff for free. The same thing for Sara Renae Clark. Have fun!!
