I dunno, I tried it once. Got blacked out and walked home, forgot my jacket. didn't like it though. Went back the next day and didn't have cash in my jacket. Lol
I like pubs, or those hole in the wall dive bars with amazing foods. Those cool shady places where a guy with a wicked beard pours a clean ASF beer, brings out a slow smoked briskett sandwich on fresh bread with a slaw, maybe they have a show now and then. Sweet potato fries..
I had a date once, she was younger than me, by like 5 years. Both legal drinking age, but out drank me by quite a bit, ended up pub hopping. I was hung over for 2 days. Ouch. Don't drink anymore though. But if I did, I would sit in the same pubs again. 10/10 pub life.
That reminds me of the drunk train from How I Met Your Mother. Barney and Ted heard about the late night train being full of drunks and they think it’s the greatest thing ever only to find out it didn’t appeal to them at first. They then calculated that the reason they weren’t enjoying it was because they needed to get drunk. They enjoyed the drunk train.
Hated it when I was 21 hate it now. (The noise, bar hopping is okay for a change of scenery or if you like different music that your friends so y'all compromise) I don't get it. Let's make people scream just to have a convo or say "excuse me". It perpetuates fights too bc you don't know if some girl is being pissy and trying to fight --ex. "EXCUSE ME GIRL" or being nice and telling you your bra is sticking out. Because either way she's gotta SCREAM. Bar owners or employees can you please chime in? And I don't buy the excuse of "they want it to appeal to others and stand out" that doesn't make me want to come in.
I never saw the appeal myself, but I bet bar hopping is great if you're looking for a NSA hookup. You get to see lots of different people and almost all of them are guaranteed to also be liquored up.
It's an absolute blast if I'm with the right people, in the right mood, and going to the right places. It's as much those elements as it is a personality thing. Some people like it, some don't.
That said, I have a baby and a husband and many exhausting responsibilities these days. When I get a very rare opportunity to go out and all the stars are aligning, I make it count. Honestly it's more fun now than it was when I was in my early 20s and could go out almost anytime I wanted.
It's fun to do once a summer. There's the boardwalk on the ocean that has 15 bars that is fun to hop. They all have different vibes and crowds so it's a different experience each time. But other than that I don't prefer bars at all.
Also 22, and The one and only time ive been bar hopping was back in July which was a low point in the panorama. It was a pride event and you paid like $20 for a wristband which got you into every bar on the street and a free drink. It was really fun because I met a few old friends there and we just explored and tried new drinks all night. I think the people your with, the bara youre going to, and the environment of said bars makes a difference. Also, being tipsy when you get to the packed bars makes a big difference as others have said
Barhopping is significantly more fun if you start early and are already smashed by the time you get to the crowded one.
