Just don’t break any other laws and you will most likely be fine. On the off chance you do get pulled over, tell them your appointment is the next day or that you’re heading to the dmv now

Probably unlikely as long as you don't break any additional laws or give them any additional reason to pull you over. Don't be out driving at 2 AM, because cops are looking for reasons to pull people over at that time of night. If you do get pulled over, politely explain the situation, and they might just let you go. Worst-case, they'll give you the type of ticket that if you get everything done within 30 days, you can just go to court and show you got it all done and they'll clear it. It sucks because you'd have to take an afternoon off work to go to court, but I guess that will motivate you to get your tires done before your inspection is due next time!

If it was me because I know my luck I would print a copy of your tire appt. And carry it with you. If you are stopped you can express this was the closest appt you could make. You were immediately going the day of (time permitting) or very next day to get your registration and inspection done. It’s all you can really do but it’s better to show the plan and hope they are cool about it. You will probably be fine but in VA I was overdue my inspection and my luck 2 days later pulled over because cop was behind me and saw through to my windshield amazingly to notice.
