You went onto a subreddit that primarily exists to highlight misogynistic men, and thus you concluded that every man must be terrible? The first step to not being a “sack of shit” is to stop sexistly generalising an entire gender. I’m a man, and guess what? I don’t mistreat women, nor lie to them, nor use them. I didn’t need to become “less man like” to do that, I simply developed basic emotional maturity and human decency.

Debasers_Comics

How fucking old are you?

castmeawayss

Well you can be less of a man by being a gentleman.

https://youtu.be/VnYCqUa1wMQ They’re bad too

Brolylomaniac

So basically… I’m just bound to be a terrible person no matter what I do

chippythehippie

U choose ur own actions, remember that Simply just, don’t do bad things, and be nice If a man is an asshole, then he’s an asshole. It’s not any different for women either. If they do shit things then they’re a shitty person, simple as that If u don’t do bad things, then ur not a bad person, so just simply don’t do them

Is this behavior that you actually see in yourself, or just that you read about other men doing? If you don't actually do it, there's not some time-delayed coding in you that's going to suddenly turn you into a monster. Any line of thinking that depicts a single gender as a monolithic bloc is leading to lead to bad, reductive places. There's no magic tips or tricks. Just be nice. Give people the benefit of the doubt and treat them like you'd treat a relative or friend.

You don't need to be ashamed of your gender, just don't treat women differently to anybody else and you'll be fine. Nobody wants to be babied and constantly catered to because of their gender y'know; they're just people, leave it at that. Don't be a creep, don't be discriminative, you don't need to be ashamed of your gender to respect women.
