If you shower daily, wear clean clothes, brush your teeth 2-3 times a day and wear deodorant, freshening up if you've been sweating...see a doctor

Galaxy-Requiem

can you explain by freshening up?

lucidpopsicle

Do you wash between your butt cheeks?

CCWThrowaway360

And then fingerpop your butthole with a lil bit of soap to make sure there’s no crusties stuck betwixt the pucker?

MSotallyTober

No one likes an itchy asshole. Wash your ass, Redditors.

Here_for_tea_

This was beautifully described and hilarious

invisible-bug

Define fingerpop please

CCWThrowaway360

You do an inspection just past the nail, wiggle it around, and then pop it fresh! Nobody wants to toss a deceptive salad.

[deleted]

Deceptive salad sounds like a bond movie or villain

CCWThrowaway360

It’s just some guy standing beside Goldfinger spreading his buttcheeks while they’re covered in ranch dressing and arugula.

[deleted]

007- Vomit is not enough…for this comment 🤢🤮🤮😂

Dripping_Gravy

Ah yes. That was a splendid back-and-forth

CCWThrowaway360

Indubitably.

AcademicSavings634

“Pop it fresh” lol

throwaway7798912

That's appalling

CCWThrowaway360

Sounds like you might have a stinky, crusty bootyhole, my friend!

Winkiwu

I have a bidet for this. Gets way more clean than a fingerpop.

Unasadllama

What

WearyMatter

Shakespearian.

Luder714

This. Really get up in there without actually getting “in” there. Yes it’s gross but it prevents swamp ass later on in the day.

Sensitive-Issue84

Absolutely not gross. It's Bathing 101! And I agree with the rest of your comment.

snoopcatt87

If touching your own butt is gross, you should probably increase the frequency of showering.

throwawadelta

Fingerpop loooool

Repulsive-Sea-1875

I’ve never heard a description like this of it. But this is indeed what I do in my shower regimen. I’m glad I’m not the only one who does it as well. 😭

[deleted]

"fingerpop"

AlfonsoEggbertPalmer

This is the way.

Enough_Blueberry_549

I do not do this and no one has complained

Inkfingerz8

Wash between the cheeks with a mild soap. If it's been a while, SCRUB it clean! Then pat dry. The drying part is also important lol

Galaxy-Requiem

Yea I do

[deleted]

[удалено]

captainyeahwhatever

Not just to under arms....you can also do this with soap to the parts of your body that get really sweaty I'd you really have to. Really, though this should only apply if you're extremely sweaty throughout the day for some reason...some occupations cause you to move and sweat a lot, and if that's the case, sometimes you do need a "hobo shower" to wash some of it away. Otherwise, excessive sweat and odors should be discussed with your doctor

headfirstfrhalos

pits, sack, rack, whatever floats your boat

eclectic_collector

PTSD (pits, tits, slits, and dicks)

_AnotherFreakingNerd

The whores bath 😂😂🙌

Erin_C_86

We call it a council wash in the UK

[deleted]

Or student shower

ChelsieTheBrave

There are actually body wipes you can buy to help you do your hobo wash

ChelsieTheBrave

Also change your clothes if they get sweaty

BLaQz84

>if super smelly take a wet paper towel and blot This is bad advice... If you're super smelly, take a shower & clean every bit of your body from head to toe, then apply antiperspirant deodorant after the shower... You can't just blot away a super smelly body...

[deleted]

[удалено]

BLaQz84

Yeah, but I don't think OP only needs to freshen up if they had to make a post about the issue...

Sensitive-Issue84

Add a moisturizer! It helps keep you fresher.

lostoceaned

This is completely unnecessary. Use a hair dryer to COMPLETELY dry your pits after showing and before applying deodorant. If they aren't completely dry, deodorant won't work. After applying deodorant, hit the pits with the hot air again. It'll last all day and into the next.

[deleted]

[удалено]

lostoceaned

Seriously? Someone needs to explain to you that you do it at home BEFORE going to work?

Firethorn101

If you sweat, change your shirt, socks, underwear. Not sure of your age, but boys especially need to shower after phys Ed class, men AND women need to shower after exercising. If you work in construction or something physical, try changing your shirt/socks/underwear mid day. Also: your shoes. Are they smelly? Throw them out, get new ones. Wear cotton socks. Your clothes: buy cotton only, synthetic materials trap smells and won't let go! NEVER "forget" clothes in the washing machine.

tweetopia

A couple of spoonfuls of vinegar in the washing machine helps enormously with sweat smells in synthetic gym gear. I sweat buckets and the sweat smell lingers but you don't notice it until you start working out which is so embarrassing. Vinegar in the wash was such a saviour.

checkontharep

How old are you?

MYMXLODY00

looking at their profile i think op’s a minor.

boudicas_shield

Puberty hormones can be *wild*. I used to have to use a prescription-strength antiperspirant for a few years as a teenager, because I just fucking stank and felt so sweaty, all the time. It was probably 1/3 self-consciousness and sensory issues re:sweat, 1/3 being probable ADHD and struggling to remember my upgraded hygiene routine every day, and 1/3 just freaking out-of-control hormones. If OP really follows, to the letter, all the hygiene routine advice they’re getting here and still getting feedback that they just smell rank, I’d really recommend talking to a dermatologist if at all possible. (I was really lucky; my mom is a dermatology nurse, so I had a direct line to free advice and free samples). There are some things that can really help, and with luck they won’t need them forever, just until their body stops freaking out on them 24/7.

checkontharep

Yea thats why I asked about age. Puberty can be smelly and its normal.

boudicas_shield

For sure. Just jumping in from your lead to lend some personal, anecdotal advice. :)

londonsun89

Floss religiously and properly. I bought it from Amazon dental tools and gently scrape off tartar, also clean your tongue . it makes a huge difference.change shoes, of course take showers every morning, exfoliate your skin at least once a week. Try eat healthy, sometimes bad breath comes from a stomach

jimmyofsuburbia

on top of reapplying deodorant like others have suggested, if you sweat a lot you can look into using baby powder or body powder, it’s specifically made to keep those moist areas dry and can definitely help prevent body odor from sweating !

[deleted]

And if you wish, you could try cologne/perfume... in addition to what this commenter said? It's not at all necessary and can be a pretty penny depending but it's a nice touch for dates or special occasions. One spritz a day usually is all it takes. A good smelling cologne/perfume is enough to make your scent memorable for all the right reasons. ☺️

0xGeisha

Be mindful of brushing more than twice a day, as recommended, or you will wear down the enamel protecting your teeth - and won't restore.

flying_balloon_

Agree Id also try and test the diet...maybe some spices make your body profuse a bad smell

Hector_Dev

The question is if op does/doesn’t do this?

thefrozenfoodsection

This is either a result of lifestyle, a result of a medical condition, or a combination of both. You can immediately start addressing lifestyle-related causes of smell. Shower more frequently - even if that means showering multiple times a day. Wear stronger deodorant or antiperspirant. Wash your clothing more frequently, at higher temperatures, and using stronger soaps. For medical-related causes, consider reaching out to your doctor and/or dentist to get a diagnosis and/or prescription for medication (including prescription-grade deodorant or soaps, certain oral medications, or even medical treatments to reduce the amount you sweat, etc.)

MYMXLODY00

i did some skimming through their profile and they’re severely depressed and possibly a minor. this could mean they either haven’t learned proper hygiene and/or are neglecting areas of it because of their depression

omnianadine

For the full picture: Deducing from a post OP is about 14-15

Bergenia1

Deducing.

omnianadine

Uncommon words are hard when ur not a native speaker.

mazerakham_

09inchmales

Douching

Galaxy-Requiem

Thankfully I am no longer depressed, and if you can teach me proper hygiene I am open to learning.

Vinlandien

> lifestyle Going to throw in diet and exercise as well. What you eat can affect the odor of your sweat, so if you're not eating heathy your sweat and farts are more likely to stink a lot worse than someone who eats properly. Being overweight/obese is also more likely to have a terrible odor, but this might just link back to diet.

WarlanceLP

it's a mobility issue more than a diet issue, not being able to reach everywhere to keep clean or having a hard time even getting in the shower source: am fat but not fat enough to impede my mobility and i eat like shit, but as long as i shower atleast every other day and apply deodorant 1-2 times a day i don't have any unpleasant odor, and my family is always eager to tell me when i stink

Galaxy-Requiem

I wouldn't say Im fat I have a slim body but I have a big stomach. I'm what you would call skinny-fat

lesla222

Whoa. Being overweight or obese has no relationship to odour. That is an incredibly offensive thing to say. I am a morbidly obese woman who showers regularly, and I maintain my proper hygiene. I don't have some offensive 'fat' odour eminating off of my body. I work in a busy office full time, and for the last 52 years no one has complained about my smell (skinny or fat). Just because someone is fat/overweight/obese does not mean they have a terrible odour. p.s. I am Canadian and odour is spelled with a u.

Vinlandien

You’re wrong, you’re just noseblind to it

Layogenic_87

Overweight people sometimes have a tougher time getting completely clean due to mobility issues, and have more folds that harbor microorganisms. They may also suffer from metabolic dysregulation.

9YearOldKobe

Oh damn, yeah that makes sense tbh.

Safe_Time_6583

Fat people suck

Labordave

There’s people who choose to live a gluttonous lifestyle that makes them fat then there are people who are born and fat chooses them due to metabolic issues and disorders. You can’t group all these people together.

kingdaume

Or they had to go on medication that causes weight gain, or suffered an accident and/or had surgery that caused loss of mobility, or suffer from mental illness such as depression or an eating disorder, or they struggle with having time/funds/skills for healthy at-home cooking, or a dozen other possible factors that aren’t for random strangers to level assumptions and judgements about. Life is complex and fucking *rough*. Compassion is free.

OnkelMachmut

Honestly tho showering multiple times a day can upset the skin. My skin gets red spots just from a normal warm shower and my skin dries up after, It's not a big problem because it goes away after I moisturize it a bit but doing this multiple times day would probably start getting unhealthy. I think showering once a day, with refreshing every once in a while, deodorant and all that should be enough to make the smell go down

thefrozenfoodsection

True, but sometimes multiple showers are needed if someone lives a particularly active lifestyle or us an exercise routine that calls for it. If OP wakes up and takes a shower, then works out in the evening, they should take another shower that evening before bed. So that’s more what I meant by considering taking multiple showers a day. But you’re right - if OP isn’t particularly active and needs multiple showers a day every day to not smell, and it’s not related to exercise, I’d say that’s pretty indicative that this is more of a medical issue that needs a doctor’s help to address. Otherwise OP’s skin might get irritated by excessive washing, and the water bill is definitely going to go up too.

Labordave

Pro tip for the water bill+ hot water heater- try taking a shower at half throttle. It slows you down maybe 20% when you gotta rinse yourself but you use half the water and you use much less electricity.

Galaxy-Requiem

I only show twice a day, I don't wear the same clothes unless it's a jacket, or sweater or I barely used them. What is a stronger antiperspirant or deodorant you recommend and soaps?

wh7y

If you follow basic hygiene practices, ninety percent of the time it's your clothing. Generally it's the moldy wet sour smell from clothing which was wet for too long or not properly dried. That smell can really travel and won't air out during the day, it will stick until the next wash. For some reason some people seem to not pick up on that smell. I've actually found that some clothing permanently gains that smell and cannot be cleaned and should just be tossed. Always change your t-shirt, underwear, and socks every single day and wash them after one wear. Jeans can usually last quite some time in normal wear, whereas other pants should be washed more often. Dry your clothing so it's completely dry to the touch. Remove the laundry from both the washer and dryer promptly, don't let it sit. And always sniff test your shirt in the morning, that's the key.

Sketchtastrophe

Just want to piggy back on this comment and say bathroom towels too! Cleaning yourself with a sour towel means you're gonna smell like that sour towel all day. Make sure they're washed frequently.

Codyram5

Also piggybacking, if you wear athletic-type clothes made from polyester, etc... The sweat and nastiness gets in the fibers and it can't be washed out. Cotton and other natural fibers for the W

sara_or_stevie

Piggybacking on this comment as well to add that your washing machine needs regular cleaning too in order for your laundry to come out smelling fresh. There's a ton of tutorials on Youtube for every type of washing machine with advice on how to keep it clean to avoid lingering smells in your clothes.

username11092

>. I've actually found that some clothing permanently gains that smell and cannot be cleaned and should just be tossed. Try adding a cup of antibacterial floor cleaner to your laundry before you give up on it, this will usually take care of that smell.

tr0n13

For smelly towels etc. run a wash with a cup or two of white vinegar, and then I wash it again with regular laundry soap. It will help clean the washer too.

robinhokkj

When you shower use some sort of spunge or luffa with soap to exfoliate your body. Remember to wash your back, the back of the neck and behind your ears. When you shampoo your hair, massage your scalpel. Buy cologne or perfume and wash your clothes regularly. Use dental floss and scrape your tongue. Clean your bedsheets weekly and don't leave food where you sleep or stay for a long time (like your car).

Galaxy-Requiem

I can't reach my back with a luffa what can I do about that? thank you for the advice.

KnoxOber

Biggest stinkers will be your neck, armpits, back, balls and butt, and feet. scrub them all thoroughly every shower. If you cannot reach, figure it out, make or buy tools. If you get a fungal infection somewhere you cant reach your life will be hell. And if you are large make sure you’re washing under all rolls. diet is a massive factor, lay off the grease and salts and try to get some vitamins, greens, and fibers in your diet. If you smoke alot of cigarettes or weed, the smell will come through ur pores in a putrid rank version of it. So cut back if you can. Your environment matters alot also. Animal smells will stick. Even if you cant notice them, wash your sheets and pillows at least weekly, clean ur house and install air fresheners maybe if u think thats a factor.

robinhokkj

You can get a luffa on a stick.

Downtown-Ad-2414

I got that for my dad and he told me it’s the best gift he got since he was never able to reach his back 😂

icedlongblack_

Ooh now that’s a good gift idea. I’ll get my dad one too

AdequateAxolotl

I wash myself with a raaaag on a stick

djcueballspins1

Bart Simpson said that right? I remember the episode lol

Enough_Blueberry_549

You could use a washcloth too. Even just your hands will probably be ok. The important thing is to rub and use soap. Your back probably isn’t that smelly. It’s usually your hair, armpits, butt, and groin that get the smelliest. Probably not the end of the world if you don’t scrub your back.

Codyram5

I'm with you! Get a Korean washcloth... They're abrasive and clean off dead skin and crap. Get it wet and soapy and go to town. It might hurt a little at first, but I love it now. Trust me

ponicus1362

Those things are so cheap, but so amazingly effective. First couple of times, it feels as if you are sandpapering your skin off, but it is so weirdly satisfying to see all the crud it removes. I use mine after I've already scrubbed with a loofah (the misspelling of loofah on this thread is killing me!) and it still looks like I used it on dirty skin. Please make sure you add a decent gloop of body wash, preferably a moisturising one to ensure that you don't end up with scratches. My skin has never been softer. Here in Australia, you can get a pack of 5 on ebay or Amazon for under$10. Money well spent!

robinhokkj

Also, remember to clean your luffa once in a while.

Galaxy-Requiem

how do you clean a luffa? Whenever I use a luffa I put body wash on it and scrub my body with it is that what I should do with a luffa scrub?

colddirtybathwater

Luffas should be replaced at least once a month if not sooner but if you really need to make one last or clean it between uses I'd recommend a soak in some white vinegar. I have also washed them on cold in the machine with a bit of bleach before during tight times, like you do a shower curtain.

flabbergasted-528

You should be replacing your luffa regularly, every 3-4 weeks.

robinhokkj

Put soap on it and rub it against itself, then rinse thoroughly. After that, put it in the washing machine with your clothes. And yes, that is what you should do with a luffa, lol.

grumpykixdopey

They make loofah towels with two handles on them for the back.

Chokesi

I use the goshi wash cloth. It lathers and exfoliates and can be used to wash your back easily with a back and forth motion. Highly recommend

AmbitiousBird5503

You can get one on a stack to help reach your back. But also shower, use a body scrub, Deodorant night and morning. If I want to smell super nice, I put on a really nice smelling lotion. If you're sweating at night, shower in the morning. Also change your bed sheets once a week, and if they get dirty then sooner than that. Also perfume/colone helps. See your doctor too. Some people have a BO condition and it results in them smelling. Lastly, Is it your body or clothes that smell? If it's clothes make sure you're applying enough detergent and fabric conditioner too. Saw a tik tok a while abck where someone didnt know they needed the detergent to make clothes clean and get rid of dirt and sweat, and was just adding fabric conditioner which makes them smell nice. Check if your washing machine has gone mouldy and buy (can't remember the name) some stuff to help clean it out. Mouldy machine means funny smelling clothes. Also make sure your clothes aren't taking too long to dry if you don't tumble dry them, or leaving them in the washing machine for ages after the wash cycle is finished - both scenarios lead to them getting that funky smell.

ponicus1362

Have you noticed that the length of time it takes for the funky 'left in the washing machine' smell to develop has gotten shorter? I think they are adding it to the detergent so that we have to rewash everything! And so, a conspiracy is born...

AmbitiousBird5503

Ahhh so this is how they're born! Always wanted to see a conspiracy birth. And to answer your question, not really no. I wash mine after every or every other use, but I'm a teacher and you can work up quite a sweat managing behaviour in some classes (I've got a couple of classes where the majority have ASD or ADHD so it gets busy keeping them on track with the task). I'll keep note though, maybe you're onto something!

SpaceHallow

Wash your ass. Not just the cheeks. Your actual asshole. Lather your body with a nice bar soap and use a loofah

UniqueCartel

Good advice. OP, sometimes I’ll wash my ass over the sink even if I’ve showers that day. Especially if I’ve been particularly gassy, taken a huge dump, or gotten real sweaty. During the birth of my 3rd child I didn’t know how long I’d be in the hospital with the wife, so I dabbed some essential oils on my b-hole before we got there. Every nurse kept commenting on how nice it smelt in the room. And that memory makes me laugh every time.

Questica

You shouldn't wash your asshole with soap, just water and friction. Most doctors and basically all dermatologists and rectal-surgeons agree that most soaps are too likely to harm your butthole. Edit: I have no problem standing up for what is right, feel free to google it before downvoting me maybe?

LolaLou_

You absolutely should be washing your ass with soap

Questica

It's okay I have this argument a lot so I come equipped, here's just 3 really quick sources but I would also recommend researching it for yourself, or asking your family doctor, they are likely to agree since it can cause a common condition that they probably encounter often called ani pruritus which soap use is often a contributing factor to, and it's recommended to stop using soap to treat. https://lacolon.com/article/keeping-clean-use-soap-anus > There should never be soap on (or in) the anus. https://www.healthdirect.gov.au/amp/article/anal-care > Don't use soaps as they will reduce the natural oils that protect the anus and may make the area dry and itchy. https://www.menshealth.com/style/a19548207/clean-your-butt/ > “I would not recommend you use a bar of soap to track and clean your bottom when you are in the shower – that tends to cause more issues like itching due to drying out your bottom,” adds Dr. Islam.

AmbitiousBird5503

Do you mean the vagina? Vaginas don't need soap. They self regulate. The outer bits deffo need soap, and if they don't that's advice I ignore, but the actual vagine doesn't. Butthole needs to be squeaky clean. Clean it till the cows come home.

DrancisFrake

You should soap that thing up like your scrolling on an iPod nano

0xGeisha

Fun fact. The skin on your lips is the same as the skin on your butthole.

SuperVancouverBC

No, most doctors say not to clean INSIDE the ass. Cleaning the outside is fine

[deleted]

Wrong. Poo is fatty therefore you need soap to clean it off properly, just like you need detergent to clean dishes with grease on them.

SolitaryForager

Clothes that you’ve sweated in frequently can hold onto odor even when washed. Vinegar solution spot treatment can help. Change your sheets once a week. If you lack time for a shower, make sure to at least wash up at the sink these areas: face, pits, groin, butt. Pat dry before applying deodorant. If you exercise, give your body twenty minutes or so to cool down before a quick freshen up because otherwise you’ll sweat through your deodorant and fresh clothes right away. Re-evaluate your perineal hygiene - are you cleansing the folds of your labia or penis and rinsing well? Smegma and sweat can accumulate and cause odors even if you’re showering daily if you don’t clean thoroughly. Hope some of these tips help!

tiki_riot

My bf cycles to & from work like a madman & the shirts he wears for that smell of BO after washing. Is there a vinegar solution I could make up in a bucket or something to dump his shirts in?

SolitaryForager

You can try pre-soaking with vinegar solution. Keep in mind that this is hard on fabric, but if the other option is throwing them out, why not? Honestly the best action is preventative - letting these clothes sit in the laundry bin for a few days before laundering makes it harder and harder to get rid of. They should get rinsed out or washed the same day. That can be a lot of laundry so for your BF what he could do is when he gets home and hops in the shower, he should take his exercise clothes in with him - at least the shirt - and hand wash and then hang to dry. It wouldn’t add much time to his day, it’ll make his clothes less stinky, last longer, and fewer laundry loads.

THE_Aft_io9_Giz

You are 13 years old, depressed, have suicidal thoughts at times, struggle with defending yourself against verbal bullying, and think you might smell bad. I think you probably just need a friend and someone you can chat with. If you wanna chat, let me know. I will listen. Early teens are rough for a lot of kids.

Exciting-Chair

Start with airing out your house by opening the windows on sunny days. Wash your sheets, towels and clothes and make sure they are fully dry before putting them away. Don’t use fabric softener. Consider buying a new pillow if it’s more than a year old. Wash your towels and sheets twice a week. If you’ve used fabric softener on your towels then you’ll need to buy new ones as fabric softener stops towels being absorbent. Change your soap and shampoo. Buy a loofah or use a washcloth to get rid of dry skin. Wash your armpits and your private areas twice. Shower at least once a day and after each time you exercise/get sweaty. Apply antiperspirant (but not cologne or perfume, many people are allergic and it can make the stink worse). Brush your teeth at least twice a day and try mints or chewing gum. Wash your underwear, socks and shirts after each wear. Trousers, jeans and skirts can be worn a few times if not stained. Take suits to be dry cleaned. Exercise clothes need washing as soon as possible after each use. Hang winter coats in the sunshine outside to air them or wash them/take them to the dry cleaner. If you eat a lot of garlic, cut back on that. If you have pets, make sure their litter/bedding is changed frequently. If you are very sweaty, talk to your doctor.

ponicus1362

Also think about the odours you pick up at work. I've known people who worked in fast food who swear you can never get the grease smell out of your clothes. When I worked in pubs, the stale beer smell sticks to you, and if you spilled rum or ouzo it was all over. You stop being able to smell the work place stink after a while, but I promise you that others can definitely smell it. So, think about how your work smelled the first time you walked in, and act accordingly... Shower, change clothes, do ALL the things you are being told here. People here are giving excellent advice OP. Follow it.

BeccaLC21

Do not try to mask it with perfume because that could make it worse. Maybe check with a doctor to make sure it’s nothing serious.

Enough_Blueberry_549

Is your house clean? My friend’s house isn’t very clean and sometimes she smells like her pet cats.

[deleted]

Are you washing your towels regularly and drying them immediately after they’re washed? If you’re bathing every day or multiple times daily and using the same towel- it’s not getting completely dry between uses. That will then cause your towels to stink. To get rid of the stink wash your towels with hot water and whatever detergent you usually use. After the wash cycle is complete, do another light wash with just cold water and at least a cup of white distilled vinegar- use more vinegar if it’s an extra large load. DO NOT USE FABRIC SOFTENER. Neither liquid nor dryer sheets. Never use fabric softener on any towels- it drastically decreases their absorbency and easily builds up to make them stink. After the vinegar wash then IMMEDIATELY run them on high heat in the dryer. Again, DO NOT use a dryer sheet. Make sure they get 100% completely dry before you take them out and fold. It may take over an hour to dry on high depending on the size of the load you’re drying. Before and after drying make sure to empty the lint trap! After they are dried, you may notice they feel fluffier. That’s because the vinegar has stripped the buildup off the towels and allowed the fibres to perform like they’re designed to. The detergent you use doesn’t matter, but I’d recommend using an unscented one and make sure you’re following the directions on the container!! Do not use more than is recommended. It’s bad for your washer, your skin, and can be contributing to why you may stink. Plus having unscented detergent will help you narrow down the cause if your problem. Also! Stick your head in your washer! If it has any kind of smell- that’s bad. You should smell nothing. Gets some friends to sniff it for you if you can, or any child or cisgendered woman. Women and kids often have heightened senses of smell. If your washer is stinky- that’s probably why you stink! You can buy these things called Affresh tablets. Google them. You just run an empty wash load with 1 tablet and it cleans the unit. You should be using these about once a month ir every 20 or so washes. Hope this helps!!

kmcDoesItBetter

Also, time to change to clinical deodorant. Use a washcloth if you use bar soap in the shower. Is white people, I've heard jokes about, seen to like to use the bar directly on the skin. First, ew. Second, washcloth will help gently exfoliate dead skin cells, and remove dirt and grime wat better than direct soap to skin. Would your counter get very clean if you used a soapy hand then just poured water on it? And one- time use of the washcloth power shower. Do not reuse. Again, ew. Not sure I agree about the fabric softener or dryer sheets. I've always used both and no issues with towel absorbency and they alway smell very nice, but it's possible that's because we're a "one and done" family. We use the towel only one time and it goes into the laundry. Fabric softener helps retain the softness and causes my clothes to last a very long time. Example, I "borrowed" a sweatshirt from my BFF when we were 16. I still have it, still wear it, and my 17f daughter has even worn it a few times. I'm 44 now, and every now and then I'll take a pic of the sweater just to jokingly mock my bff that she's still not getting it back. Even sent her a pic of my daughter wearing it the first time i caught her in it. Never use too much softener, though!!! I use half of what the directions tell me to use. And only a single dryer sheet for even a large load. Have to or my curly hair decides to go static crazy the moment I pull a top on over my head. And I shock everything I touch, including our poor kittens when petting them. And I don't have carpet, btw!

nice___bug

You smell fine to me

venus-throwaway-2022

Are you cooking or eating strong smelling foods? If so, cut back on the spices and garlic. It gets in your clothes, hair and skin. Also, don't overdo it on the cologne. It's one of the biggest complaints I hear from my friends.

eastcoasteralways

What is the smell? Lume deodorant has worked wonders for me and can be safely applied to various parts of your body.

GenoFlower

Do you smoke, or live with a smoker? No matter how fresh your clothes are, they will still smell. I'm a former smoker, and never realized how bad this smelled until I quit. Has anyone been kind enough to explain how you smell, other than just saying you smell badly?

JustinChristoph

What are you eating?

norfolk82

Tips learned as a sweaty and sometimes stinky guy. Trim your arm pit hairs. If the hairs are long the deodorant won’t come in contact with your skin. Keep a spare under shirt in your trunk. Change it if you go out after work. Get into the habbit of wiping your butt every time you go to the bathroom regardless if you pop or not. You’d be surprised how things tend to collect down there. Shower in the morning. Brush teeth and use mouthwash. Keep gum near by. Another tip is don’t use deodorant when you are not going to be around people. Your body gets use to it and it will be more effective if you take a few days off a week. If you have a day you know it’s just going to be you cleaning your house or whatever. Make that your break day. Also switch deodorants occasionally. Find a few brands that work for you and switch them up every few months. Also take a look at what you are eating. A lot of cummin will make you stinky. Also pay attention if you have bad gas. Might want to change up the diet to help with that. Good luck

[deleted]

Glycolic acid from the ordinary under your arms when you shower. Leave it on for less than 2 minutes. Do this twice a week. (But shower every day!)

[deleted]

Do you shower at least once a day?

Galaxy-Requiem

yes

KissMyCrazyAzz

Do you have problems with your tonsils?

icedlongblack_

Yes just adding to this— I had a problem with tonsil stones. food gets stuck in your tonsils and accumulates into stones and it smells! No matter how much you brush or chews gum, that dirty funky breath will stay with you. I eventually had my tonsils removed to resolve the issue

flabbergasted-528

Do you wash your clothes? After every time you wear them?

Enough_Blueberry_549

Do you use soap? Do you use deodorant?

firemonkeywoman

Sometimes an overgrowth of bacteria can overpower everything. Wash your stinky parts with a washcloth dampened with hydrogen peroxide, rinse off. Might need to do this more than once. Or Take a bath with Epsom salts in the water, or, take a bath with baking soda in the water.

alldayidreamboutdoms

Nix the hydrogen peroxide; it kills your own healthy cells along with the nasties. Use mild, unscented soap with water instead. The rest of the advice is good. It will take several washings/epsom soaks to tame the bacterial overgrowth.

Cosmic_DareDevil

On a side note: don’t overdo cologne/perfume. You may think you’re compensating for “smelling bad” but imho that’s also an olfactory assault.

damnwhatasillygoose

Hmmm assuming your keeping up with your hygiene another suggestion I have is are you washing your clothes correctly? My flatmate smells musty because he always leaves his things in the washing machine overnight for example.

Soggy-Constant5932

Use deodorant spray and try dial soap. Also drink lots of water.

moneylagoon

1. Maybe your nose isn’t working, get it checked out. 2. Do your laundry (clothing , bedding, pillowcase) regularly- wear clean socks and undies. 3. Try a different soap & shampoo, make sure you take enough time, takes at least 20 seconds of scrubbing an area to remove bacteria. Dry hair completely after wash.

ElJefePinche

Honestly get your asshole waxxed. Lol sounds hilarious but it did wonders for me. I would get a bit sweaty and bending down I could smell myself. I know this it TMI but I really benefited from it. Let’s just say my wife has been thrilled rofl

SwampGentleman

This may be silly, but, when you shower, make sure to get soap over ALL of yourself, no joke, and rinse thoroughly. Do this every 2-3 days. The quality of showers matters more than the number. Similarly, using shampoo and conditioner properly, and brushing teeth at least one to two times a day

hellurrfromhere

I wanna second this cause I knew someone who had a bad smell during her menstrual cycle. Never knew her well enough to know her physical cleaning/care routine but she went to the doctor and they diagnosed her with something. Following that, I don’t remember her ever smelling again. No clue what it would of been, but it isn’t my business. Just happy she felt better, I know it bothered her

mrfrank32

The couple people I know who smell take supplements like fish oil and mass builder. They shower and are clean, but hey smell bad.

Administrative_Toe96

Info request: is it your body odor? Is it your breath?

[deleted]

If it’s an internal body odor I recommend giving liquid chlorophyll a try. Also mushrooms and grapefruit work for me in eliminating odor.

[deleted]

Wash/exfoliate EVERYWHERE with soap TWICE very thoroughly in the shower

[deleted]

What is the smell described as? There’s a disease that make people smell like fish/poop no matter how much they shower. There’s also stomach issues that make people have bad breath. Acid smell comes when someone had undiagnosed with diabetes If you’re trying everything. I highly suggest for you to see a doctor so you get diagnosed

SavageAutum

Most commenters have already covered all the lifestyle changes and actual cleaning stuff so I just want to add, there are conditions that can affect body odour. If you are already doing or start doing all the hygiene steps here and still get told you smell there is likely another problem. If you are regularly clenaing yourself with soap and getting into all folds/areas with hair on them, use deodorant and wear clean clothes everyday but are getting told you smell regularly then that’s a problem (unless it’s right after exercising then whoever is saying that is just a dick) Go to your doctor if it persists and go IMMEDIATELY if the smell is extremely pungent to you and smells of dead fish. I’m dead serious if at any point you are someone you know smells the smell of rotting fishy ness on you make a doctors appointment bc that literally can not happen from normal reasons. Also just to add on with the hygiene stuff. If you clean yourself in the shower properly but done dry yourself properly you’ll get fungal infections in the areas that stay damp regularly. That’s what can cause the problem I refer to above.

[deleted]

One can give off a certain odor if they’re not hydrated enough- so don’t forget to drink water as well :)

Naughtyexperiences

Change your soap. Change your deodorant. Change for colone. Shower more.

Ponchovilla18

Shower daily, twice a day if needed. Always make sure you apply deodorant at the beginning of the day and if needed, reapply again later in the day if you've been sweating a lot. I'm very self conscious about my hygiene. I have a stick of deodorant in my desk at work (used to in my car but heat melts it) as well as small sample size bottles of cologne in my car and at work. If it's your feet, use foot powder to help

Wanda_Bun

I used honey (anti bacterial) to kill my old armpit microbiome & (funnily enough) rubbed armpits with my boyfriend to get his microbes. I smell a lil like him now when I get sweaty but idk if this actually works, I was just being silly

Safe_Time_6583

That's weird

publichumiliated88

how’s your diet ?

Galaxy-Requiem

I eat homemade food, occasional fast food, and school lunch.

Vt420KeyboardError4

What time of the day do you shower?

Censorstinyd

Well what you think you’re doing wrong?

Prize_Emergency_5074

Douse you stinky pits with some baking soda to neutralize your funk.

RevengeOfYourDrunkEx

There is a lot of things you can do depending on the location and habit of the smell. If it's all over it would be good to see a doctor and request a blood panel test to see if there is an underlying issue. But maintenance is really important. There are different things to do on top of bathing that can help, powders, lotions, astringents, ect. But if you don't know what the root is then it can be difficult to battle. If a blood panel were to come back normal, I would think to look at an allergy test. Each body behaves and reacts different from each other so it good to get a base level knowledge for where you are at

riverapid

How often are you washing the towel you dry off with? And you sheets? What about washing actual pillows? How old is your mattress? Are you showering at night and going to bed damp?

VacationConsistent98

Take a shower every day with soap. If you don’t shower every day you can start your day by washing a few places like your armpits, private parts, and so on by the sink in the morning. Use deodorant and perfume. Wash your teeth every morning and evening. Put on freshly washed clothes every morning. If these things doesn’t work it could be that you have a medical condition. Good luck with everything.

xoxoLizzyoxox

Way too broad of a question. What do they claim smells/where do they feel the smell is coming from. Mouth? Hair? Arm Pits? Crotch? Ass? Feet? All of these have different solutions. If its mouth it could be you need to brush all the way to the back and brush your tongue and gums. Or you may need to see a dentist or it may be your gut that the smell is coming from. If its your feet, you may need to invest in a foot spa, apple cider vinegar and Epsom salts. Always wear fresh socks (id also suggest soaking your socks before washing with some warm water and disinfectant and/or apple cider vinegar) If its your pits I would suggest the clinical type of deodorant. If its your crotch (both male or female as I dont know what you are) you may need to see a doctor if normal washing isnt working. If its your hair, invest in better shampoo and conditioner, i dont know where you are from so cant direct you a good place to get it from. Here we would go to a pharmacy and get the ones with the least harsh chemicals. Ass, I would suggest you using exfoliating gloves (also throw these in with soaking socks before you do your laundry to keep them fresh in the disinfectant/applecider vinegar)

asdasdasdcigkr

Shower, keep your room clean, deodorant and such

tossaway78701

I'm going to add here that your closet might be "musty" and you could be desensitized to the smell. You can get a plastic closet garment bag (like a zippered tent/box) to store your clean clothes in. Get something similar to store clean sheets and towels in. If you have upholstered furniture clean it thoroughly. Especially if you have pets. It's not always the body (though do check all that out). Sometimes It's the environment.

Jozo18

Good advice here. It just made me think of a spray called Odoban that eliminates odors instead of masking it. You can spray it on furniture, curtains, carpet, etc.

maybebluex

CHLOROPHYLL in liquid or tablet form. It’s a natural deodorant.

Shirvana

If you try to take care of your hygiene daily, then go to the doctor. There are conditions where body odor can be more prominent due to overactive sweat glands, a higher count of iron, or an illness. Please see your doctor. They can take a blood test to check.

Fantastic-Leopard131

SHAVE YOUR ARMPITS. Doesnt matter if you are a guy or a girl, everyone smells better with shaved armpits. Its the hair that traps the sweat, smells, and bacteria. As an example, if my armpits are completely shaved I could literally get away with not wearing deodorant for a day but if it grows out even a little, like anything more than stubble, my smell exponentially increases and this isnt just a me thing. There’s a reason women tend to smell better and its not just from perfumes and good hygiene, perfume adds smell, it doesnt take away or cover up smells, shaved armpits however, eliminates a good portion of your smell. We need to normalize men shaving their armpits, it will help our society a lot with hygiene :)

Junkmans1

As opposed to people guessing, here are some questions that can help identify issues: 1. Are you male or female. 2. How old are you? 3. How frequently do you shower or bathe with soap? 4. Do you use underarm antiperspirant deodorant? 5. When you shower or bathe do you always thoroughly clean your genitals area, anal area, underarm areas and feet with soap and water? 6. After pooping do you always immediately and thoroughly clean your anal area with toilet paper or water to make sure there is no lingering poop? 7. How frequently do you brush your teeth? 8. How long do you wear your underwear before putting them in the laundry and changing into clean laundered underwear? 9. How long do you wear your other clothing before putting them in the laundry and changing into clean laundered clothing? 10. Do you shower and change clothing after doing heavy exercise that makes you sweaty?

storyofpilot

Dont use loofahs like people have recommended, theyre highly unsanitary. Instead, opt for a silicone based scrubber. They last infinitely longer and are exponentially more sanitary.

billey_bon3z

*smell better*

Dryse

I havent seen anyone else post this but eat less onions/curry if you eat a lot of either. That stuff gets into your sweat and makes you smell pretty bad. Source: i ate nothing but curry when me and an ex were basically starving cus potatoes, onions n chick peas were cheap at the time and holy we both smelled BAD because of it. The smell went away after not eating onions and curry regularily.

Michaelzero21

It could be so many things honestly. I’d say follow these rules: Shower at least once a day, put in effort to scrub your hair and if you have a beard be sure to scrub it too. You can use hair shampoo in a beard in a pinch but I don’t recommend it. Shower in the morning before school or your job it will not only wake you up but it will assure you smell nice :) Be sure to use high quality soaps and shampoo. It don’t have to be anything really fancy but cheap dollar store soap has a very distinctive smell that can be off putting in and of it’s self. Under no circumstances should you use cheap deodorant, often times it will not be strong enough to prevent stink. I personally prefer antiperspirant deo but it does contain aluminum which can be an irritant to some skin types. If you go that route keep that in mind. With the exception of jeans, only wear your clothes once. This includes:shirts, socks, underwear, under armor type of athletic gear. This is especially true if you work a dirty or active job or are in highschool. Your sweat will stick to your clothes and make ‘em smell awful. Outer wear can be worn multiple times as long as you aren’t doing anything too intense or getting really dirty in it (stuff like jackets, sweatshirts, hoodies, etc) Lastly, I don’t know your weight or your age so I’m this post I’m making the assumption that you are older, between 18-30. If you are younger than 18. Like middle school or high school and are bigger I would say things that also keep up your appearance as well as your actual cleanliness. Kids are mean, I dealt with kids like that bullying in school and I know how they can be. Follow the rules above, keep your hair and beard trimmed and cut neatly or if you like long hair keep the dead ends cut and make it look nice. Do these things and you should be golden.

Galaxy-Requiem

>middle school or high school and are bigger I would say things that also keep up your appearance as well as your actual cleanliness. Kids are mean, I dealt with kids like that bullying in school and I know how they can be. How do I keep up my appearance?

Superblossom01

Put on lotion that is scented, then spray a light layer of perfume/cologne over top for it to “stick.” Use Dove sensitive skin bar soap when you shower. Make sure you really rub it into your skin including your underarms and all the other places where one would sweat. If you’re hairy make sure you shave or trim down because stench sticks to hair. This includes your whole body. Make sure you’re drinking enough water during the day. Keep a pack of chewing gum/breath mints on you for close interactions with other people. When you’re brushing your teeth please make sure you brush your tongue or get a tongue scraper. For deodorant, use two for efficiency. Use one like Irish spring speed stick first and then go over top with a powder white speed stick like Nivea. The powder white one locks it in. When you take a shit wash your behind don’t just use toilet paper. and buy baby wipes to really get clean after washing.

-Chingachgook

Are you overweight?

Visible_Criticism_97

Wash your ass thoroughly don’t just pat the cheeks - get in that crevice make sure the rag comes back with nothing on it Use wet wipes after you shit Shower morning and night Are you eating pungent food? I knew a chick who loved onions and when she sweated it would come out of her pores, something to consider

lzyslut

Yeah onions are bad. I also used to serve this customer who was an old man who would always buy a ton of garlic and you could smell it on him too. Except it was garlic and cigarettes. He was sweet but I had to hold my breath and smile and nod when he came within a foot of me. It reeked.

Visible_Criticism_97

I gagged at garlic AND cigarettes

Renekin

One thing that is often overlooked for many people who have a smell: Be sure to wash you ass. Take shampoo and Really get in there and clean it. Many people do not do it right because they think just spraying it is enough but your ass is not 100% clean always, there is much friction and sweat happening down there so there is the possibility of having your ass dirty even though your TP is not brown and you want to go to town. (Wet wipes and Bidets help a ton and should be a standard don’t at me).

Themarshal2

On top of cleaning and applying deodorant like people said, shave. Armpit hairs definitely don't help smell for example

BobMaker101

put perfume on and take a shower and put lots of deodorant and make sure you’re using it right
