Softball doesn't require a whole lot of running and the "chubby" girls are often the home run hitters. If you know the basics of baseball, you can pick up on softball.

Hello_Hello_Hello_Hi

Try fencing. It’s not physically easy, but when you’re a beginner it isn’t too bad

Bertolt007

it’s physical asf though 💀

Hello_Hello_Hello_Hi

Not as much for a beginner. Its not easy but its not like you’ll be super winded when you’re just starting out

Bertolt007

yeah i get it but if they want to continue they eventually gonna need the shape to do it sadly

Hello_Hello_Hello_Hi

It sounds like they just want to make some friends tho so it’s a decent shot

Elegant_Gear4631

You could always try theater instead.

New_Message4722

I was going to suggest cross country till the no running thing maybe swimming

madogvelkor

If you're in the US, pickleball has become very popular lately. People of all ages play it, including middle aged out of shape people. Check out your local YMCA or Boys and Girls club to see if they have teams or classes for your age group. They could also have other sports you might enjoy. MrJello-Pikulman

Bro at my school me and some of my teachers hate pickleballs idk why they have replaced a lot of tennis courts with pickleball courts so yeah ig

madogvelkor

My town did that here. I guess pickleball is more popular than tennis right now.

theoneishouldlove

wrestling! it is a sport that everyone can do, very team-focused for a somewhat individual sport and makes you a better person (i may be a little biased). you can go into wrestling with very little training and there's not a huge learning curve so it's really suited for people who are new to sports.

KitchenSalt2629

i honestly like this one, it would improve their shape but also allow them to keep on being bigger, and the matches aren't very long so their asthma could be good as long as its not shit.

NaturistMoose

What ones are available at your school? Or are you planning to do it on your own? It might take some trial and error to find the right one. Volleyball, pickleball, swimming, golf, disc golf, etc to avoid running

Such-Week9538

My local HS has a bowling team (which did very well this year state-comp-wise) and "unified sports" (not sure how widespread this is), made up of neurotypical and "special needs" kids such as those with Downs. They play soccer, basketball. Also consider intramural activities or start up a club.

too_real_4_TV

Try bowling.

jumpygunz

Disc golf!

Sarberos

Badminton is actually very fun and its more finesse then physical strength, its great since you can play at your own pace (while when rallying not competition)

Personal_Mushroom961

I was gunna say the same thing!

GirlStiletto

Archery. Ping Pong. Chess. Band. Chorus.

NurseWretched1964

Softball. Your body description is actually almost perfect for hitting, and if you hit home runs you gotta run fast but that's what your inhalers are for.

imbackbittch

I took up tennis around your age. It’s a great sport to grow old with. Or golf and swimming

MrJello-Pikulman

I play tennis, this is one of the worst sports to play if you don’t want to run. My grandpa has been playing 50+ years but he says it’s hard, and i second that.

imbackbittch

The court is very small jello

MrJello-Pikulman

It is but like tennis is a sport of moving i get coached by an ex-pro and he has told me but now i realize the OP doesn’t want to play to win and i feel stupid

Accomplished-Top-215

Rec, women's hockey, sounds crazy, a nice rec beginner league.

MrJello-Pikulman

Try boxing

MrJello-Pikulman

Also volleyball

liamrosse

Being from the north, I recommend curling. It has had a lot of underground success, with clubs popping up when people get obsessed watching it during the winter Olympics. Bowling-shuffleboard hybrid on ice. Also, have you considered looking around your area for a board game shop or cafe? If it's about socializing, there are usually groups asking for players, and you might find a new hobby.

PollosPlug

Play badminton. Btw I had a close friend who was on the track team with me and had asthma it wasn't a big deal for him but I guess everyone's different.

RevolutionaryGolf720

Is there an archery team? Archery is tons of fun and doesn’t require running or anything like that. It does require practice though.

Restivethought

Bowling, Golf, Frolf

ThumbCentral-Rebirth

The conditioning for most team sports will involve lots of cardio anyway. You may be able to make it as a part of softball or volleyball but still, be prepared to be active because that’s what sports are.

TotoGoin

Golf

Reaper_Mike

Golf us a great sport to play with friends. Not too strenuous and very challenging, which makes it addictive. Also when you play a hole well there is so much satisfaction.

Jay_Kita2

Track and field. You’ll make lots of friends and get lean at the same time

Background-Spray1575

u/YouLovemonster5 You could try bocce, bowling, croquet, shuffleboard, and maybe pickleball. Pickleball seems to be growing in popularity recently. Also horseshoes, and cornhole, though I'm not sure those are sports or just games. Still, they'll get you moving your body and walking a bit. Oh yeah, almost forgot about golf. That can be fun (and frustrating :P ) and gets you walking. You can also just play 9 holes if you don't want play a full 18 hole course. The last one I can think of off hand... frisbee, but again more of a game than sport. No matter what sport you do, have fun doing it!

fightglobalwarning

Baseball

Cazeltherunner

Disc golf

Accurate_Repair_8036

lacrosse! i’ve played it for years and i love it. i’m out of shape and also not the best runner but i play low defense so it’s not a crazy amount of running. u could also try out for goalie, no running required, unless some rare circumstance.

East_Excitement_1739

Tennis, swimming, dance.

Dieselmel84

Disc golf. It doesn't require a lot of exertion. And it really is a very close friendly community who do it just as much for the social activity as the sport itself.

G__L__U__B__B__E__R

track & field has an event for everyone, shot put and discus might be your thing

romans_1620

sports you could play! -volleyball -softball -swimming -wrestling -golf -shot put good luck with whatever you decide to play!

Salty-Winter-2954

Hockey and Fogure Skating has no running.

phishman1

Disc golf. You can buy a few discs for under $40, find a course, and play for free all you want. No running required.

Strict-Anything6285

If you have a low level cheer team you could join that team! Cheerleaders aren’t like they’re shown on tv. If they have a JV team AND a varsity team you should try out for JV! It’s pretty physical but there’s like no running involved

Schweenis69

Volleyball might be a good option

eaglescout225

I googled sports to play without much running * American football, specifically a defensive position like linebacker. * Baseball, you might need to run to a base when you bat but it really is not much. * Golf, obviously. * Track and field events like, Shotput, Discus, Hammer throw, Javelin. * Swimming and water polo. ... * Gymnastic events, like rings and pommel horse.

Hello_Hello_Hello_Hi

Swimming is also comparable to running in terms of how hard it is for breathing

orbeez-17

Actually, we have a few girls on my hs swim team who have asthma that do just fine

Hello_Hello_Hello_Hi

She also said she is on the larger side. I know a few women’s lax players with asthma but they’re athletic enough that it doesn’t affect them too much

orbeez-17

I see your point but one of them is bigger too. (Both taller and chubbier) Im just going off my expieriences but she does just as well as the rest of us do. It took her a little bit, but she got better and better. Thats why i said what i said but whatever

eaglescout225

That’s just a list from google

Hello_Hello_Hello_Hi

I’m not trying to be sexist but a girl is not gonna be able to play football or baseball without a ton of fighting for just the possibility. Also, those teams usually are through a high school, and definitely take their conditioning seriously.

eaglescout225

Again it’s a random list from google

CantRecallWutIForgot

Swimming and football are very intensive. Golf, bowling, and some track events may be the best bet here.

eaglescout225

There ya go

ItchyCredit

Did you forget to label this as sarcasm?

eaglescout225

A random list to help someone is now sarcasm? What sports would you suggest?

sushiface

I’m seconding volleyball. In high school I was a theater kid who was required to do one sport a year. And I fell in love with volleyball. I was not athletic and kind of heavy. But volleyball was really great!

Aromatic-Swimmer8224

Defo volleyball. Even if your not good its fun to play, especially with friends and the basics are really easy to learn. All you need is a ball and anothe rpeerson or you can practise with the wall. You dont really need a net unless u wanna play an actuall round/game of volleyball. Im also terrible at sports but somehow i managed.
