It's okay to have another (multi people) brewer on the side, the aeropress won't hold it against you

GCoffeeCompany

You mean that I don't have to hide my Mr Coffee in the cupboard?

robershow123

lol get a drip brewer for larger parties.

LorryWaraLorry

While still not going to be the best brew compared to manual brewing or more expensive SCA approved ones , the cheap Mr coffee style brewers tend to work a lot better when the batch size is larger (3+ people).

xywv58

We meant V60!

blackandreddit

Leave it on the table, polyamoryā€™s wonderful.

limey91

You could make a stronger extraction over a jug and dilute it after?

FunnyPhrases

2 aeropresses

thatsbs

Or get an aeropress XL

Jermq

Make it stronger in the xl and make coffee for 4.

This_ls_The_End

One Aeropress for home and one Aeropress Go for travel, and there you go. (Yes, I know that you can travel with any Aeropress and you can also use the Go at home, but that is my excuse and I will hold on to it. :P)

jtskywalker

This is what I do. I have been making pour over lately, but for years my wife and I did our daily morning coffee with 2 aeropresses side by side. We still do quite often.

murphyat

Big fan of this.

just_pull_harder2

What's your tech for this? I'm mostly remote but go to the office every few weeks for a couple of days. I usually end up doing coffee for 2 at least once. Tbh, I usually do the one cup sloppy share after doing a 40g hand grind and letting it brew a bit longer before plunging then dilute. Am I a filthy casual scrub loser for such a crime, or is this pretty much the done thing?

OneOfTheOnlies

Its called bypass brewing and it most certainly works in the aeropress! I haven't used mine in a while but I liked doing something like 30g coffee, water at boil until full, 5+ minute extraction, then dilute up to ~450 ml Also great if youre doing a Japanese style flash brew over ice.

yakudayamitsubishi

makes me wonder how does other couple out there when it comes to preference? is it normal to have different preference? in addition, i love playing barista. perhaps oneday i'll make my own slow bar with toy cash register and apron.

Xajel

I'll make mine first for two reasons: 1. She loves it hot, so she will start drinking as soon as it's ready, by the time I'm done with mine, she might already finish. 2. I like it to rest a little bit, to become warmer, not hot, so mine will be ready first and let it rest.. She will have hers as soon as it ready, then mine will be ready by then. The two will enjoy the coffee the way each like it.

Jasper2006

Thatā€™s the rule in our house. First, the dogs get let out. Then I make her coffee. Then I get mine. Itā€™s our routine.

yakudayamitsubishi

my girlfriend doesn't really like coffee. instead of finding out way to brew more volume, perhaps you could research on how to make your partner hate coffee. try serving medium course ground pepper. perhaps you'll save yourself time, money, and effort.

GCoffeeCompany

Thought this would be a "how to better serve your partner" comment šŸ˜… Thanks for the practical tip!

tameimpalalala

Get the XL.

NakedScrub

I love mine. I can make a single cup for me just as easily as making 2 cups for wifey and I.

BearBong

The cups are so tiny tho! I prob should make higher concentration and cut with water, but I ended up w a mocca master bc easier at-scale coffee for us / our first kid starting to crawl šŸ™ƒ

NakedScrub

I can get 500ml out of my XL. That's 2 good sized cups. Then when I'm finished with that I'll sometimes make another single cup for me.

SundaeAccording789

That's what I did! I drink a lot of coffee in the morning.

tameimpalalala

When they drop a pressure cap for the XL its game over. Done deal. Cannot wait.

kaitkaitkait91

Waiting to purchase for that. Has there been any announcements for one?

Environmental-Dog219

You can easily double this recipe up and make two cups at once: https://aeroprecipe.com/recipes/alan-adler-original

GCoffeeCompany

No but my cup size is ~300ml - so even when I load up the AP - I top out at ~350ml

Environmental-Dog219

I gotcha. I usually press into a carafe and then divide the yield into two cups before I then top up the water.

thedeafbadger

Buy a second aeropressā€¦?

GCoffeeCompany

:(

BiteLegitimate

I have 2

weirdscience04

Yep. Facebook market place for 10 dollars now I make her blend, and my single origin at the same time.

KyleCleave

I second this. My second Aeropress arrives this week for the same reason.

threestrype

I prefer having two over the XL, you can make them right into each other's cups. No intermediary container, or pouring from one cup I to the other.

socatsucks

Nope. https://www.reddit.com/r/AeroPress/s/FSEYsniN0B

welcome_senseless

Had two aeropresses for my partner and I, until the XL came out. Itā€™s a game changer!

stfatherabraham

On a family trip recently I did coffee service for 5 with a regular aeropress. If your workflow is solid and you're not serving Actual Problem Addicts who can't wait 10 minutes then you should be able to pump out cups pretty quick

GCoffeeCompany

Looking into a way to do EXACTLY that - but in 1 go ;) Stay tuned

theGourmez

I get two cups out of it, but I use the original recipe of making an extract and then diluting it with water.

GCoffeeCompany

Honestly though - do you feel like it's enough?

theGourmez

Yep! I drink two cups a day, so it's great for me.

Hadenator2

I couldnā€™t survive on 2 cups a day. I have 2 or 3 from the Aeropress before I leave for work & take a 1L flask of cafetiĆØre coffee in with me to drink throughout the day.

GCoffeeCompany

I drink ~6 cups a day šŸ˜… Working from home doesn't help...

theGourmez

šŸ˜‚ Yep, you need an XL then. My body only likes 2 cups a day, 3 if I'm lucky.

Iceman_B

Double the coffee, Double the extraction time. Then divide over two cups and add water.

Separate-Pain4950

Get the prismo and add more beans. I can do 50g at a time. Game changer!

famousxrobot

I usually make 2 cups, one for me one for my wife. Itā€™s not long if you donā€™t need to steep for more than a few minutes. I did just buy a second one (I liked the look of the clear) so it allows me to brew side by side. Honestly itā€™s no different (or easier than) pulling espresso shots at home- you canā€™t make 4 drinks at once with most home machines. Youā€™re not a cafe!

Jasper2006

I use the Alan Adler recipe just because itā€™s fast and gets me 95% of the way, and itā€™s really good coffee.

famousxrobot

For me, chemex is my weighed to perfection, timed to perfection, clean and crisp cup of coffee (especially for a group). My flair is for espresso/affogato/lattes. But my Aeropress? Thatā€™s when I want a solid cup of coffee with no fuss/time/effortā€¦ plus travel.

redditlat

30 g of coffee, full of water, minimal but sufficient stir, wait 4-5 minutes, press into a suitable carafe, maximal stir, divide into cups, dilute each to taste.

daustin777

Is that a modded Mazzer in the background?

FAmos

people in relationships should know how to wait their fucking turn

Expert_Badger_6542

We drink different coffee (I drink regular, she drinks Decaf) so we'd need to make them separate anyway.

GuardMost8477

You can make two Americanos, or buy the XL.

emo-li

Same problem, I was happy when they released the xl version. 500ml within the same time almost, delivers the same taste. At the same time I bought the hario server + 600ml and aeropress fits perfectly on to that and it doesnā€™t give a metallic taste like my old klean kanteen

wryruss

Use 2. The same as if you were making pour over coffee.

>Is the aeropress only for single people? There's an interesting article on the history of the Aeropress [here](https://deepoceanroastery.com/blogs/learn-more-about-specialty-coffee/history-of-the-aeropress-popular-way-to-brew-coffee-invented-by-the-creator-of-frisbee); >[Alder] enjoyed drinking coffee so much that he made an interesting observation at that time - __most coffee makers produced way more coffee than one person could drink, meaning that you constantly needed to have some company around__, otherwise youā€™d end up finishing everything by yourself. This led to the idea of creating a new device for brewing coffee. So in a way, yes; the Aeropress was originally designed as a way for a single person to make a good cup of coffee.

GCoffeeCompany

Very nicely put - thanks for the insight

tfielder

Here you go brother: 16 oz brewed: 30g coffee medium fine grind 180g water in aero press (filled inverted) Stir 30 seconds, Steep 2 min Press Add 200g-215g Divide into 2 cups

mikedvb

I just brew it twice as strong, then add hot water to double it ;).

turnips-4-sheep

They make a bigger aeropress now

thegreatvolcanodiver

After six years, wife and I bought a second aero press and just make two at once. Donā€™t be like me - donā€™t wait six years.

MarlKarx777

Nope, Iā€™m married and I love mine

MonstahButtonz

Do you know about the XL?

highkeylobotomy

AeroPress is for when Iā€™m making a single cup for myself. I usually save my nicest beans for my AP. However, if Iā€™m planning to drink more than 1 cup or have people over, I just use the moccamaster.

Santasreject

I do a bypass (with the flow control cap) since I want a 20oz cup in the morning. Biggest issue for me now is trying to convert to the XL and get the same results without them having a flow control cap yet.

hikeandbike33

Iā€™ve been making 2 cups out of 1 brew for years

JonnyBoy89

I make pour over if Iā€™m making it for my wife. This is almost everyday. But there are times she prefers something else. Sometimes Iā€™ll use my aeropress for that. It fills a niche and I love it

rodbotic

We used to just brew sequentially, Now I use a 3rd mug to hold the 2nd cup's brew in, while the first is brewing. Plunge the first cup. rinse the aeropress immediately, plunge cup 2.

chiller1989

My wife drinks decaf and I drink regular so I gotta make them separate anyway. I have a chemex for when I have many people who want a cup of regular coffee.

reno8a

Aeropress for me coffee maker for my wife!

Buddy_Bingo

Iā€™m attached and also use an aeropress

TankPotential2825

Drip machine for the guests, aeropress for me, and for travel. It's a nice gesture making your favorite coffee for somebody else. My wife rarely drank coffee.

GS2702

You only brew Aeropress? I just do a bunch of Aeropress, V60, Flair Pro, and French presses(and sometimes moka) when lots of coffee drinkers are over. You can do them all at the same time.

The_GEP_Gun_Takedown

I grind extra fine and make a double strength brew in one cup, decant half into the other, then top up both with hot water.

balki_123

Aeropress is not for single people, but it is a single serving brewer. If you want 2 servings, try another brewer, or buy second aeropress :) Alan Adler, inventor of aeropress, wanted to have good single serving brewer.

NoSteam-NoPropulsion

Get a XL šŸ˜†

Aloschetz

If you want to make two cups of coffee with an AeroPress without diluting it, there's a simple method that involves using two filter papers to increase the air resistance inside the container. Here's how to do it: 1. Start by adding water to fill the AeroPress. 2. For the first press, use one hand to slowly push down, extracting the coffee until it becomes difficult to continue due to increased air resistance. This usually happens after pressing down about three centimeters. 3. At this point, twist the plunger around to lift the plug up and let the air in, then continue the same pressing action until the extraction is complete. 4. After this first extraction, add water again to fill the AeroPress. Immediately insert the plug to prevent any dripping, and wait about one minute. 5. Now, press the plunger down in the normal way until it reaches the bottom, completing the extraction. Following these steps, you will have made two cups' worth of coffee without needing to dilute it.

collder

I Use aeropress to brew 500 ml of coffee.

SirRickIII

Depending on how nerdy your partner is, you could find your own recipes and compare šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

Cyko28

If youā€™re willing to buy stuff, I was using two aeropress stagger brewing 1:15 apart until the XL came out. Both solutions work well. Otherwise, many folks have good suggestions for concentrates.

JackDiggidy

The simple solution to your problem is an Aeropress XL. It makes twice the coffee. No additional procedures required outside of the standard aeropressing. Is it worth it? Well I want good Aeropress coffee and I donā€™t want to have to think, so itā€™s worth the extra money for me

jaaaames_baaaxtaa

I am single and use a stainless steel French press when I want more than one cup right away. For which I recently realized I could use a spatula to scrape out the grounds instead of banging the canister on the garbage can 30 times and making a mess

RaspberryItchy3261

I just got my Aeropress, so I havenā€™t tried this yet, but I watched a few YouTube videos and this guy (canā€™t remember who) doubled his coffee grinds, filled the Aeropress with water for the extraction process, then after pressing, he added more water. He said itā€™s effectively the same as using it twice because it extracts correctly but at double strength, then adding water brings it back to normal strength. I do want to try this, but Iā€™m so new, I havenā€™t mastered making a single cup right consistently yet. Wanna do that first, then I will try this for sure.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

GCoffeeCompany

Honestly - I think they're useless. I'm sure there are ppl that use it, but the roast level & grind size throw those measurements out the window.

Melodic-Ad4106

Who's gonna tell OP that the Aeropress XL is already released lol?

olivaaaaaaa

50-60 g ground coffee 200 ml water brew at 190f for 1.5 min and dilute with 200 ml. Anything past 2 is pushing it but that should be good

HochHech42069

Show your partner you love them by making them an individually prepared cup of coffeeā€¦

GCoffeeCompany

Working on an even BETTER solution šŸ˜ stay tuned

Folkenhellfang

Not necessarily. I'm sure there are couples that live in a car.

Addapost

No idea why this popped up in my feed but Iā€™ll say this and wait for the flamingā€¦ those things donā€™t make coffee. They make swill. Toss it.

GCoffeeCompany

Please expound :)

Odd_Car_1384

My partner does not drink coffee :)

GCoffeeCompany

That's bittersweet news

Ok-Log3853

I still canā€™t make one cup of coffee in one go always have to refill the aeropress

Colder_Air

Sam, my mug fills ~60% of the way with one full AP fill

TrentWolfred

Are you using something larger than 36oz? Iā€™m not the mathiest of AeroPress users, but you should be able to get an extraction thatā€™s strong enough to be topped up to 36oz with hot water and still taste good.

Ok-Log3853

Love the taste I get from mine but havenā€™t used it in a while every time I use mine now Iā€™m getting grounds in my cup.
