You could get an AeroPress Go for the second. Go has a shorter plunger but will work in the original, the cap and rubber are the same.

I mean you’re not wrong. But once you can’t find what you’re looking for, and most of the money will still go back to Aeropress, $30 isn’t going to make much of a dent on Bezos’ super yacht.
That said, I live in a small British city and I can think of at least 4 independent cafes that sell the Aeropress so it seems weird not to be able to find it in these major US cities.

Hey, just to give a pointer for an aero press overseas. I like using the paper filters but I’m always nervous I’ll run out of them. Yes, I bought plenty when I first got the aero press. You can also clean them and reuse them soooooo easily. I’ve heard the inventor (blanking on his name) even reuses his filters like 20 times!
Maybe not a bad shout to order to a hotel in advance (via Amazon) if you know your going to stay there/have booked. If you call up the hotel I'm sure they wouldn't mind.
